Fortnite Lawsuit: Are You Entitled to Get a Refund?

0

The developer of the well-known online video game Fortnite, Epic Games, has agreed to pay $245 million to resolve FTC complaints over in-game transactions. The FTC claims that the business froze the accounts of consumers who contested erroneous payments with their credit card providers and charged parents and gamers of all ages for unnecessary merchandise.

The FTC intends to use the proceeds of the settlement to reimburse American Fortnite players who were harmed by the company’s invoicing and refund policies.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) claimed that Epic used a range of design gimmicks known as “dark patterns” to persuade Fortnite players of all ages to make unplanned in-game purchases in a complaint made public in December as part of a settlement agreement with Epic. Fortnite’s counterintuitive, uneven, and confusing button arrangement leads users to incur undesirable charges depending on the click of a single button.

Also, the business made it simple for kids to buy things while using Fortnite without requesting their parents’ permission. Customers whose credit card companies raised complaints about fraudulent charges with Epic also had their accounts closed, according to the FTC’s lawsuit.

Are You Entitled to Get a Refund?

The FTC has planned to make refunds available to:

  • Parents whose kids bought anything on the Epic Games Store with an illegal credit card between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Those who between January 2017 and September 2022 were charged in-game currency V-Bucks for unnecessary in-game stuff like cosmetics, llamas, or battle passes.
  • Players whose accounts were disabled between January 2017 and September 2022 after they disputed unlawful charges with their credit card issuers.

If you think you qualify for a refund, there is no need for you to take any action at this time. We will update this page and notify consumers who paid for in-game purchases by email when we have more details regarding the refund program.

Note: Keep in mind that the FTC never charges you to make a claim or get a refund. Never pay anybody who demands money in exchange for a guarantee of an FTC refund.

VCT Game Changers Coach Fired Following Accusations of Sexual Misconduct With a Minor

0

The VCT Game Changers program, which was launched in 2021, aims at promoting women in esports and providing them with opportunities to compete at the highest levels. While the program has grown rapidly over the past couple of years and achieved great success, it has not been without its share of controversies.

Recently, there have been multiple instances in the scene where men have been accused of various forms of misconduct or controversial behavior. In October 2022, Valorant org Rising Hope dropped its entire roster for Game Changers after its coach was alleged of sexually harassing the team members on multiple occasions.

In March 2023, the Game Changers community was rocked by yet another controversy involving a male coach who was accused of sexual misconduct against a minor and subsequently fired from his position.

On March 17, Japanese esports organization FENNEL revealed that they had picked up two coaches for their Valorant Game Changers roster – Rader and hanpipe. The announcement was quickly followed by the surfacing of sexual misconduct allegations against the latter.

In the replies to the aforementioned announcement, Gareso Takizawa revealed that hanpipe was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old at her parents’ home.

FENNEL replied to the Tweet, claiming that they would launch an investigation into the accusations. A day later, the org announced that hanpipe had been removed from the team.

“When we checked the facts, we found that hanpipe himself had admitted to the facts and that the matter had been reported to a third party,” FENNEL said in a statement. “This was not revealed to us until the facts were discovered.”

Angle Snapping explained: How to enable it in Valorant?

0

It’s common practice for players of competitive multiplayer games like Valorant, a first-person shooter, to experiment with a wide variety of options in order to find the optimal balance between fun and challenge.

Using Angle Snapping while moving the cursor around can help Valorant players maintain their crosshair levels. Some versions of gaming mice include it, and you can enable Angle Snapping from the embedded software itself.

Valorant offers a plethora of options for optimal gameplay. Believe it or not, some software choices from industry-standard mice can help players hit their headshots faster and better. This all can be achieved by downloading the software from your brand’s official website which is quite user-friendly and easy to adjust.

Angle Snapping is a gaming mouse feature that improves enemy snapping. This feature lets players move their mouse laterally. This feature stabilizes the crosshair for headshots during small jerks.

Most high-end gaming mice, and typically those of S-tier leaders of the industry, have the unique feature of “Angle Snapping,” which helps stabilize movement and keeps the cursor moving in a straight line even if the user moves their arm slightly.

By disregarding erratic hand movements, it is able to accurately anticipate where the mouse will go next. In-game accuracy can be improved by activating this function, and it’s also helpful for players of all skill levels.

While Angle Snapping is not a configurable option in Valorant, it can be activated via the mouse’s manufacturer’s bundled software. Players may find that the option is grayed out or missing completely from the software, indicating that it is not compatible with the mouse.

Angel Snapping can currently be accessed if you have  purchased your gaming mouse from the brands listed below:

  • Republic of Gamers
  • Lioncast
  • Corsair

Angel Snapping exclusively requires using bundled software as mentioned above and is not a part of Valorant’s available features. We highly recommend players to install the bundled softwares and not other third-party ones as they might conflict with the game’s anti-cheat resulting in a permanent ban. We at TalkEsport are not responsible if you stumble across any mishap if ever a third-party software is used to enable Angel Snapping.

Why Can’t XQC Drive?

0

Félix Lengyel, also known as xQc, is a popular Twitch streamer and former professional Overwatch player. In a recent stream, he revealed that he does not have a driver’s license and has no intention of getting one.

During the stream, xQc explained that he prefers to rely on public transportation or ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. He also stated that he has a fear of driving and feels safer when he is not behind the wheel.

Being an adult, xQc has been teased by fans and peers for not getting a license and during a recent CSGO match he revealed how his decision could not be altered by the taunts before explaining the reason.

xQc’s decision not to get a driver’s license has also been influenced by his busy schedule as well as his lack of confidence behind the wheel. As a popular Twitch streamer, he spends much of his time streaming and attending events. He feels that learning to drive and obtaining a license would require a significant time commitment that he is not willing to make.

You guys always roast me for not having a license, I don’t want one, I genuinely don’t want one. I’m irresponsible, OK? I can’t even cook sh*t without making a fire. So why would I want to endanger myself and others by being in a car on the street? It is so dumb.

xQc

xQc remains firm in his decision not to get a driver’s license. He feels that relying on public transportation and ride-sharing services is a more responsible choice for him and the environment. His decision not to get a driver’s license is based on personal preference and practical considerations.

While he acknowledges that not having a license has its drawbacks, he feels it is the best choice for him now. While he may not want to be a driver, the former Overwatch star has an appreciation for cars or at least one would assume given he spent $300,000 on a McLaren which he cannot legally drive.

What Is Valorant Pro City? The High ELO Alternative To Ranked

0

If you’ve been following professional players and streamers, you may have come across the term “Pro City” which is an invite-only hub that lets the former join custom games instead of queuing for ranked matches.

Valorant Pro City was developed by Tarik, one of the most famous Valorant streamers on Twitch, as a solution for professional players and high-level ELO grinders.

Pro City surrounds or you can say built around invited professional players and high-ranked VALORANT players. The 10-man games indeed match the level of gameplay one might look forward to witnessing, unlike other one-sided games.

Valorant’s issues have been widely reported for a long time, especially its MMR system. There appears to be a large number of players who take advantage of the MMR system by cheating, throwing, griefing, win-trading, and generally acting in a toxic manner.

Professional players who are currently on a VALORANT franchise squad or under contract with a top-tier organization were extended direct invitations to the event. One might face significant tiredness from all these issues since pro players and content creators as well might face these issues as a difficult setting to hone their skills.

Professional players and other high-ranked players who wish to queue up for customs are the only members of the Pro City Hub. The sole reason behind Pro City is to naturally come across those players who are well-dedicated towards the game and care less about the MMR from the official queue.

You can keep tabs on the happenings around Pro City by checking out NeatQueue which would allow you to filter matches by Month, Match Rating, Games Played, Wins, and Losses.
