CS2 Fans Frustrated by Inability to Play Custom Maps with Friends

The Steam workshop is home to hundreds of thousands of community maps for popular games on the platform like Counter-Strike and Dota 2. Previously, it has provided CSGO with some of the most well-known custom game modes in the title like Bunny Hopping and Surfing, which have undoubtedly played a big part in the rise of CSGO as one of the biggest esport titles of all time.

Community servers have consistently stood out as an immensely popular element within the world of Counter-Strike. They have helped the shooter stand out from other titles in its genre, and have enabled players to take a break from the intense competitive grind to relax with their friends in a casual environment.

For the same reasons, the absence of workshop maps from Counter Strike 2 at the time of the game’s launch caused an uproar within the community. Luckily, the developers were swift to address this issue as they kicked off community servers for CS2 and enabled users to upload their custom maps to the Steam Workshop via the November 2nd update.

However, the community unearthed a significant flaw in this update, encountering challenges when attempting to play workshop maps with their friends in CS2.

Players Can’t Host Workshop Map Lobbies With Friends in CS2

As confirmed by multiple threads across social media forums, players are unable to host workshop maps with their friends in Counter Strike 2. At the time of writing, players are limited to playing workshop maps offline or via community servers.

This wasn’t always the case, though. Back in the days of CSGO, players could easily ask their friends to join their lobby and boot up any custom map of their choice.

This has become a major cause of concern within the community, as players have no other option than to resort to third-party community servers to play workshop maps with their friends. It’s worth highlighting that this approach restricts players from enjoying maps of their preference alongside friends, confining them to the selection available on the specific community server they are currently playing on.

For instance, if you aim to play a specific Bhop map with your friend, your only option is to navigate the community server list and hope that a server featuring that particular map is currently active.

The CS2 community is eagerly looking forward to Valve addressing this issue at the earliest.

Valve announces new Steam Deck OLED

0

Following the release of the OG Steam Deck in 2021, Valve has doubled down on its handheld gaming console by launching the new Steam Deck i.e. Steam Deck OLED for 2023.

The original stream generated mixed reactions in the gaming space, while many appreciated the portable powerhouse that brought the experience of PC games on the go many argued that the compromises were too much to have an enjoyable experience. Valve releasing an improved version of Steam Deck is a testament to their belief in their portable gaming vision.

As the name suggests, the highlight feature of the new Steam Deck is the OLED panel, while OLED is known to be slower than LCD, the upsides are better picture quality, improved efficiency, and more vivid color reproduction which makes it a very lucrative upgrade.

The Steam Deck OLED will feature a 7.4-inch screen with a 1289×800 resolution running at 90Hz. The internals boats a 6 nm APU and 16 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM clocked at 64000MHz. It also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 and a bigger battery of 50Wh with claims to last around 12 hours of gaming.

The OLED panel will likely be the most significant change given that it will bring a visible improvement over the previous generations and will likely play a big part in reaching the claimed 12 hours of gaming given its efficiency.

The Steam Deck will now come in three variants, the 256 GB LCD will go for $399 while the brand new 512 GB and 1 TB OLED Steam Deck will go for $549 and $649 respectively. The new consoles will be available starting November 16th and upon its launch, we might see the LCD model go on sale for discounted prices, making it a very enticing device.

AI Can Make GTA 6 Even Better: Take-Two CEO

0

The gaming world is abuzz with the highly anticipated release of “GTA 6,” a decade after the last installment from Rockstar Games. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, recently shed light on the potential integration of generative AI in the upcoming title. This technological leap could redefine the gaming experience, particularly in the realm of non-player characters (NPCs).

AI in Gaming

Zelnick’s insights, shared at the Paley International Council Summit, highlight the potential of AI to revolutionize gaming. He envisions a future where AI enhances the variety and depth of NPC interactions, making them more engaging and dynamic. This advancement could significantly increase the replay value of games, keeping players hooked with fresh and intriguing experiences.

While the specific role of AI in “GTA 6” remains under wraps, the possibilities are tantalizing. The technology could be used to create more expansive and detailed game worlds or to add layers of complexity to NPC interactions. Zelnick’s cautious optimism reflects the industry’s excitement and the challenges of integrating AI into such a high-profile game.

Rockstar’s Vision

In a statement, Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser emphasized the company’s commitment to making culturally significant games. The upcoming trailer for “GTA 6,” coinciding with Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, is eagerly awaited by fans worldwide. This release is not just another game; it’s a milestone in Rockstar’s journey to redefine gaming as a form of entertainment.

Take-Two’s approach to “GTA 6” is marked by a blend of ambition and caution. Zelnick acknowledges the high stakes involved in such a major release, aiming to balance player and investor expectations. The company’s strategy of underpromising and overdelivering has been key to its past successes.

Take-Two’s influence extends beyond “GTA 6.” Zelnick discussed various industry challenges, including layoffs and the company’s foray into mobile gaming. Their acquisition of Zynga, though initially ill-timed, reflects a commitment to not missing out on emerging trends in the gaming sector.

David Beckham’s Guild Esports Launches Sim Racing Hub

0

Guild Esports co-owned by the renowned David Beckham, has taken a significant leap in the world of competitive racing. They have unveiled a cutting-edge sim racing facility at their London headquarters. This initiative marks a new chapter in nurturing the future stars of racing, both in the virtual and real-world arenas.

Located in the vibrant area of Shoreditch, the Sky Guild Gaming Centre, operational since 2022, is more than just a training ground. It’s a beacon of hope and opportunity. The center boasts six advanced sim racing rigs, catering not only to Guild’s competitive team and academy drivers but also to the broader community. This move addresses the often-criticized high entry barriers in esports, especially in sim racing.

Guild Esports is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and diverse environment. They understand that talent can come from any background. To this end, they offer a membership program at £59.99 ($73) per month, granting access to their top-notch facilities. This program includes two sessions per month and provides crucial telemetric data to help participants hone their skills.

After successfully raising £600,000 ($734,000) for the venture, Guild Esports’ entry into simulation racing in 2023 has already produced encouraging results. Along with teammates Ryan Ward and Brandon Abraham, Remy Gilbert has established himself in the FIA-sponsored British Formula 4 Esports Championship, finishing in the top five.

This venture coincides with the rising popularity of sim racing, further fueled by the success of the “Gran Turismo” movie, which chronicles the journey of Jann Mardenborough from a sim racer to a professional track driver.

Under the leadership of Jasmine Skee, the UK’s only female CEO of a publicly listed esports organization, Guild Esports is not just about competition; it’s about changing the landscape. The launch of this sim racing facility is a testament to their commitment to diversity and inclusivity in esports. It’s a significant step in lowering the financial barriers that often hinder talented individuals from entering the world of sim racing and Formula 1.

Guild Esports extends an open invitation to anyone in or around London interested in sim racing. This facility is not just a training ground; it’s a launchpad for dreams, a place where the next generation of esports champions will emerge.
