Riot Removes Split From Valorant Matchmaking; When Will It Return?

0

In an announcement made on April 24th, Riot Games has confirmed that Split is getting removed from all game modes in Valorant due to a recently discovered bug.

As a result, Split will be unavailable in Unrated, Competitive, Spike Rush, and Swiftplay till the bug is fixed. Moreover, since Split was originally slated as the Premier map this week, it will be substituted with Ascent. Additionally, Split will not be included in the map pick and ban process for the Premier Playoffs scheduled for this Sunday.

Game-Breaking Split Bug Gets the Map Removed From Valorant’s Map Pool

The bug in question, although not officially specified by Riot, is believed by players to have allowed certain Agents to exploit their abilities, granting them access to extremely high locations on the map, thus providing an unfair advantage.

The announcement also highlights another issue involving Agent Cypher. This bug causes his Trapwires to appear on the minimaps of his teammates even after he has been killed. Despite this, Cypher will remain playable in the game.

When Will Split Return To Valorant?

Riot has confirmed that Split will be returning to Valorant alongside the upcoming patch 8.08 with both the aforementioned bugs being fixed. Valorant patch 8.08 is expected to hit the live servers around April 30, 2024.

Esports World Cup 2024 Will Not Feature Valorant

0

In a surprising turn of events, the Esports World Cup Foundation has excluded Valorant, one of the most prominent esports titles, from the highly anticipated Esports World Cup 2024. Valorant, developed by Riot Games, has a dedicated fanbase and a thriving competitive scene. Notably, Valorant’s esports scene has grown leaps and bounds since the game’s launch in June 2020.

For players and teams who have dedicated countless hours honing their skills in Valorant, the news comes as a bitter disappointment, crashing hopes of showcasing their talents on the world stage and competing for a share of the historic prize pool.

With Riot Games continuing to support and expand upon the title through regular updates, balance changes, and esports initiatives like Valorant Premier, there’s no doubt that Valorant will continue to thrive in terms of esports, with or without representation at the Esports World Cup 2024.

Valorant Removes Split Due to Game-Breaking A-Site Bug

0

Valorant players might notice a familiar map missing from their recent rotations. Split, a popular three-lane map known for its aggressive attacker opportunities, has been temporarily disabled due to a critical bug impacting Attacker’s spawn on Site A.

This isn’t the first time Riot Games has swiftly addressed in-game issues in Valorant. The developers take pride in maintaining a balanced and competitive environment, and this commitment extends to quickly resolving bugs that disrupt fair play.

What Went Wrong on Split?

The culprit? A movement exploit allowing certain Agents to reach an unintended vantage point on top of the A-Site tower. This strategic high ground offered a significant unfair advantage for Defenders, providing an unobstructed view and easy one-sided engagements onto the A Main entrance. Agents like Jett and Raze, known for their superior mobility skills, were able to abuse the bug with their Updraft (Jett) and Blast Pack (Raze) abilities, essentially turning the tides in the Defenders’ favor.

Considering A-Site on Split already presents a challenging push for Attackers due to its narrow entry point, this exploit effectively crippled their ability to gain control of the site.

What’s the Fix and When Can We Expect Split Back?

Riot acknowledged the severity of the bug and opted to disable Split entirely from the Competitive, Unrated, Premier, Swiftplay, and Spike Rush map pools. They’ve reassured players that a fix is on the way, arriving with Patch 8.08. In the meantime, players eager for a dose of Split action will have to wait or try their hand at alternative modes like Deathmatch and Escalation, where the map remains available.

Patch 8.08 won’t just address the problematic exploit on Split. Riot has also confirmed a fix for a separate Cypher bug that caused his Trapwires to remain visible on teammates’ mini-maps even after being destroyed.

Fnatic Strikes Crypto-Fueled Deal with Casino Betify

0

Esports heavyweight Fnatic is making a bold move into the world of cryptocurrency gambling with a new multi-year sponsorship deal. Their partner? Betify is a casino featuring high-stakes crypto betting.

This deal has major implications. Betify is dipping its toes into the competitive esports scene, hoping to make a splash. They’ll get massive exposure by having their logo plastered on those iconic Fnatic jerseys, worn during high-profile events like the ESL Pro League Season 19. Plus, expect some wild collaborations—content creators unleashed at gaming events. Sign me up!

Fnatic Betify

Now, Betify’s no stranger to shaking things up. They’ve got some big names backing them, like Floyd Mayweather. But, here’s the kicker – if you’re in the UK, this might just be a tease, as Betify isn’t currently available there.

Fnatic, of course, is an esports legend, especially in those classic Counter-Strike days. Sure, their last Major was a while back, but they’ve become a giant in the gaming world. Now, they join the growing ranks of teams partnering up with crypto betting platforms. This follows the likes of FaZe Clan and Heroic… the trend is heating up for 2024.

So, why all the crypto hype in esports? Well, according to Betify’s Partner Manager, this isn’t just about cashing in,  it’s about “heart.”  But seriously, that seven-figure price tag probably doesn’t hurt either.

Germany Eyes the Gaming Throne: Can They Compete with RPG Giants like Baldur’s Gate 3?

0

You know how everyone and their grandma is obsessed with Baldur’s Gate 3? Well, the German government has taken notice.  They’re not just handing out awards to German devs – they’re pumping serious cash into the industry.  The goal? To build a thriving game development scene in Germany that can go toe-to-toe with international blockbusters.

From Niche Hits to Global Success

Let’s be real; Germany hasn’t exactly dominated the gaming space like some other countries. But things are changing. They’ve been dishing out funding since 2020, aiming to make Germany an internationally competitive game dev hub. This year’s German Computer Game Awards were a testament to that – tons of games benefited from those government grants!

But here’s the thing: When Germany talks about wanting more games “like Baldur’s Gate 3,”  they’re looking for that same level of critical acclaim and insane commercial success.  It’s more than just making cool games; it’s about making games that leave a mark.

Baldur’s-Gate-3

So, How’s the Plan Going?

The strategy seems to be paying off. Studios like Rockfish Games (Everspace 2) and indie gems like Chained Echoes are proof that Germany’s got talent. Of course, building a games industry that can take on Canada or the UK takes time and a whole lot of resources.

Could the Next “Baldur’s Gate” Be German?

Now that’s the big question! With Larian off the D&D train, maybe a German studio could step up and make the next legendary RPG.  Imagine the possibilities! History buffs could craft an incredible RPG set during the Thirty Years’ War, or a new fantasy epic taking inspiration from German folklore.

Fortnite Landmarks: Your Guide to Hidden Gems and Loot Spots

0

Okay, seasoned Fortnite players already know their way around the big-named locations. But have you checked out the island’s hidden gems – the Landmarks? These little spots are kind of like POIs’ less famous cousins. They won’t show up on your map with a flashy name, but they’re still worth exploring.

What’s the Big Deal with Landmarks?

For starters, discovering a new Landmark gets you some sweet XP, meaning they’re an easy way to level up.  Plus, some Landmarks are packed with decent loot – sometimes on par with smaller POIs. And the best part? They tend to fly under the radar, so they’re less likely to be crowded early-game. Talk about peaceful looting!

Unlike POIs, Landmarks mostly stay the same throughout a season, which means you can get familiar with the best ones and plan your drop strategy around them. While they don’t have Capture Points, some Landmarks have Vaults nearby – jackpot!

So there you have it!  Landmarks might not be the main stars of the Fortnite map, but knowing where to find them and which ones offer the best goodies can seriously boost your gameplay.
