Global Esports have been venturing into projects after projects. From acquiring a training facility in South Korea to signing multiple rosters in India, Global Esports have come along ever since.

Earlier this week, the organization signed a Dota 2 roster. Prior to Dota 2 squad, it’s CS:GO lineup went through a major overhaul since the Polish duo departed. Global Esports is also close to signing Matt “dayv1d” David, according to our sources. Matt has worked alongside Order, Avant Gaming and Counter Logic Gaming throughout his career.

Recent social media updates from their official handles also suggest that they could sign a Fortnite lineup ahead of $40M Fortnite World Cup. However, they have signed a four-man PUBG lineup and the players are quite well-received in the Indian PUBG circuit:

  • Vishal ‘AMF’ Shah
  • Karan ‘Gr1MO’ Puri
  • Himadri ‘Roy’ Roy
  • Shubham ‘Saddieboy’ Parth

It would be interesting to see what this roster brings on the table in upcoming tournaments. Indian scene will be witnessing plenty of PUBG events in the months to follow as IGZ and several others have stepped up to deliver.

ESL One: Cologne 2019 Asia Open Qualifier #2 – Breaking Down Day 1

Seventy-one teams participated in the second qualifier of ESL One: Cologne 2019. All the matches on the first day were best of one matchup and four undefeated teams have advanced to the semi-finale โ€” Absolute, Recca Esports, EHOME, IPET Gaming. Amongst the four teams, two will advance to the Asian Closed Qualifier which will be held in later in May. Alpha Red and BTRQ have already secured their slot in the closed qualifier through the first open qualifier.

Semi-Finale matchups for Open Qualifier #2 will be held today:

15:30 (GST +5:30) – Recca Esports vs Absolute
18:30 (GST +5:30) – EHOME vs IPET Gaming

Indian powerhouses have once again disappointed us. Hovering around with constant roster shuffles and jumping teams after teams have led to minimal stability and functioning amongst the best.

Global Esports lost to Revolution 16-4 on Inferno in their initial match. Entity Gaming did not participate in the qualifiers due to reasons not known. After a month long bootcamp, Entity CS:GO squad landed in India yesterday which could possibly be a reason behind their absence. God Particles with little to no hopes lost to EHOME in the round 3 while Signify ended their stint against IPET Gaming 16-11 in the fourth round of second qualifier.

Team NXL were overwhelmed by Daimaru Gaming in their opening matchup. NASR were almost close to advancing to semi-finale but Recca eventually came out on top as they took Mirage 25-23 over NASR. FrostFire also went down in round three along with GodParticles and Made In Thailand. Portal Esport, Pakistan powerhouse also went down in the round four in a one sided affair against Alter Ego.

Vici and Freeman to part ways after IEM Sydney

0

WingHei “Freeman” Cheung will leave the active lineup of ViCi after the end of IEM Sydney, the player has revealed in his Instagram.

In an Instagram made by the young gun, he states that he will be leaving ViCi to seek new opportunities and not due to difference in the attitude between the teammates. Freeman has been a part of the organisation since 2 years and has attended multiple events and most importantly the IEM Katowice New Challengers Stage, where the team placed 9-11th. In fact, Freeman was the first player from HongKong to ever attend a major following victory over North on Dust 2 and Inferno from the Minor-Play in the tournament.

In his own statement, Freeman said:

โ€œI will leave ViCi after IEM Sydney, reason being I would like to seek for new challenges. Contrary to rumours saying that ViCi kicked me due to toxic behaviours, I am leaving the team on behalf of my own decision instead of getting kicked. Indeed, I used to criticize my teammates back then in the older ViCi lineup, but that’s because I was young and ignorant back then. Ever since the new ViCi lineup, advent and other ViCi members have gave me great guidance, and I’ve also matured. You may ask advent’s opinions on this matter. Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone’s support and especially thank advent and others in ViCi for looking after me these two years. P.S. A photo of advent ?โ€ (translation thanks to u/InXaneGZ. Following this post, Freeman has made his Instagram account private and only select people can view the post

After IEM Sydney, ViCi will be reduced to:

  • Zhuo “advent” Liang
  • WeiJie “zhokiNg” Zhong
  • ZhiHong “aumaN” Liu
  • Andrew “Kaze” Khong
