Team Liquid defeat ENCE to win IEM Chicago

Team Liquid have been crowned CS:GO champions once againโ€”and this time around, itโ€™s at IEM Chicago.

Reigning from North America as the best team in the world, Liquid won their sixth international tournament of the year at IEM Chicago, losing only one map in the process. To take the title, they swept ENCE in a swift best-of-five, which only lasted three maps because of the North Americansโ€™exceptional map pool. During the map veto process, Liquid picked Overpass and Inferno, Ence chose Nuke and Dust2, while Mirage was the decider.

Overpass: Team Liquid won 16-2

As the map began, Ence threw Liquid off their feet by picking up the first pistol round, before Team Liquid was able to pick up fourteen of their own with a good amount of clutches and reversing unfavourable situations. The second half followed the same storyline and Liquid dominated the Finns to a scoreline of 16-2.

Nuke: Team Liquid won 16-3

The second map started with a similar script, the Finnish Ence squad, they were quickly silenced by a surgically-precise Liquid team, The North Americans lost only one round in the second half in a 16-3 win to put Ence’s backs against the wall.

Inferno: Team Liquid won 16-14

For the final map of the series, the two teams loaded into Inferno, where Liquid promptly pulled ahead with a 10-5 lead before switching sides. EliGE led the way once again with 29 kills and only 20 deaths in the map, as Liquid eventually sealed the deal with a 16-14 score.

With this being Team Liquidsโ€™ sixth title of 2019 and their second-straight grand final win vs. Ence, IEM Chicago further solidifies them as the best team in the world. Following their win at the BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles last week, it was confirmed that 2019 is really the โ€œLiquid Era.โ€ Now their dominance at the upper echelons of competition is getting out of hand.

Theyโ€™ve perfected and elevated the CS:GO meta for months on end and theyโ€™re seemingly unstoppable, begging several important questionsโ€”are they the best lineup in the history of Counter-Strike? And how can anyone prevent them from winning every single big event?

All of the teams will have some weeks to rest and prepare for the StarLadder Berlin Major, which starts on Aug. 23.

Team Liquid are an esports enigma that needs to be solved by contenders like Astralis, Vitality, FaZe Clan, and Ence.

Valve finally released Acolyte of the Lost Arts – Young Invoker Persona

The most anticipated cosmetic that this battle pass presents finally hits the live servers today. Kid Invoker persona awaited by Invoker spammers and the Dota 2 community alike.

However, the Dota 2 community already had a preview of the persona, in the ti7 short film movie (SFM) contest and bagged the first place.

With the release of this persona, it is evident that Invoker pick rates will skyrocket or it’ll get banned every game.

Kid Invoker itself levels with Arcana tier in my opinion. The particle effects, especially the forge spirit and the voice, stands out.

Down sides-

  1. After the release of Invoker kid persona, the original Invoker item market took a hit. All the previous immortals went on a downward spiral and prices are decreasing at a rapid pace. Example – Dark artistry cape was 24k INR last night now it’s 16k INR. The trading community took a hit. It seems like valve is planning an entirely new market for the persona.
  2. Hitbox changes. Kid Invoker persona had a way smaller hitbox if compared to the original Invoker hitbox as seen in the picture. Pay2win?

To conclude things, the Dota 2 community and the Invoker spammers are quite happy with the persona update but, trading community is not. Especially the hitbox is a little far fetched from being fair. Also, this update brings a lot of heat for Invoker as a hero, people who don’t know how to play Invoker will also pick it. My advice, try to ban it every game or counter it.

100 Thieves to return to CSGO, may sign OpTic Gaming roster

Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, CEO of 100 Thieves revealed that his organization 100 Thieves is planning a comeback to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, through YouTube earlier today. 100 Thieves’ initial venture into CS:GO dates back to late 2017 when the American organization signed ex-Immortal players. The ex-Immortal squad were runners-up at the PGL Krakow major in Poland back then.

Unfortunately, the squad could not attend the next major โ€” ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 due to VISA/immigration issues. Soon, the project drifted apart as the organization initially kicked Brazilian star player Vito ‘kNgV-‘ Giuseppe. The other four followed the same fate and 100 Thieves finally seized their operation in CS:GO.

According to HLTV, 100 Thieves is possibly targeting OpTic Gaming lineup as the parent company Immortal Gaming Club (IGC)already owns a CS:GO roster under MIBR tag. IGC recently acquired OpTic Gaming and it will have to bid goodbye to either of the roster and it is quite expected for them to move forward with MIBR, considering their fanbase and superior ranking.

Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke also recently tweeted “??” which suggests that he and his teammates might have been signed by 100 Thieves or any other organization. If the rumours are to be believed, 100 Thieves lineup would be:

  • Mathias ‘MSL’ Lauridsen
  • Kristian ‘k0nfig’ Wienecke
  • Nikolaj ‘niko’ Kristensen
  • Ismail ‘refrezh’ Ali
  • Rene ‘TeSeS’ Madsen
  • Casper “ruggah” Due (Coach)

These Esports players earn more than their country Presidents

2

This week, a report on esports earning by TechGuided highlighted that Esports Professional in games such as Dota 2, Fortnite, League of Legends, etc and Full-Time Streamers are earning more money than the Prime Minister and President of their respective country.

With the esports gaining more momentum and rise in popularity, there is a surge in revenue that professional players and streamers can generate from sponsored deals, stream donations, salaries and tournament earning than they did before.

The revenue that the esports industry is able to generate have far surpassed the predicted estimates. As the esports market continues to make strides forward, more brands and businesses are openly investing in the market.

Both the professional players and streamers are earning more than what they did back in 2016 and before that.

In the report, TechGuided listed top 20 highest-earning esports individuals (of 2018) and compared their earnings to leaders of their respective country.

All the data is from publicly listed sources and may not represent the real earnings, but we can estimate and conclude that esports in general have come a long way since the early 2000โ€™s and professionals involved in the industry are able to earn more (or similar) to what they would earn from Full-time jobs and business or in some cases, more than top government officials and leaders.

StarLadder relaxes roster rules before StarLadder Berlin Major

StarLadder, the organizers of the CS: GO Berlin Major have relaxed their rules regarding rosters ahead of the Minor.

This rule, allows teams to field their coach at the Major or the Minor instead of a player in any case. Earlier, the teams would be allowed to use their coach only if one of the players was held up in an emergency such as; visa issues, health-related issues. However, the change made will be permanent and the player in the active lineup will not be able to return and play the Major with the team.

An email was sent to all the team attending the Minor and the Major about the same. The email has been acquired by HLTV.org who reported the news first.

MiBR will hugely benefit from this change. After MiBR not wanting coldzera to play at the Major, they learned that their coach would not be able to fill up his spot at the Major. However, this update permits zews to replace coldzera at the Major.

Indian PUBG Mobile teams denied visas for Berlin LAN; Team IND, Indian Tigers to play from NODWINโ€™s office

5

PUBG Mobile has developed a very popular Esports scene within a short period. The Indian scene saw Soul dominate the Indian qualifiers of PUBG Mobile Club Open Spring Split LAN at Berlin, grabbing a spot directly into the Main Event.

Team IND and Indian Tigers, who came second and third respectively, have qualified for the prelims of the Berlin LAN, with the prelims set to start on July 20. But, it seems the two teams will be at a disadvantage before they even drop onto the map, with Visa issues propping itโ€™s ugly head.

According to Mortal, who explained the situation on his stream, all of the three Indian teams are having troubles with VISA clearances. Team IND player ScoutOP has had his visa rejected, with Mortal claiming that Indian Tigers are also in the same boat.

Via: GOD LEVEL GAMER

This means that the likely scenario is the two teams playing the prelims from NODWIN Gamingโ€™s Offices, which in turn, will hand the two Indian teams a grave ping disadvantage compared to the teams who will be in Berlin for the prelims.

Mortal also highlighted that one of the major reasons of the VISA issues were due to the Indian Government not having a body overseeing or supporting the Esports scene in India, which makes getting clearances for countries like USA, Germany and others tough for the young pros.

While Mortalโ€™s team Soul have a bit of extra time and are hopeful of being successful in their re-application, the chances of Team IND and Indian Tigers making it to the Main Event have taken a strong hit.

Although, if either or both of the two teams were to somehow qualify, despite the ping difference, they could have a chance of making it to the Main Event in Berlin.

MIBR invited to BLAST Pro Series Moscow

0

MIBR will be attending their fourth BLAST Pro event as the Brazilian lineup receives invite from the organizer. Since the Immortal Gaming Club subsidiary is a circuit team under BLAST Pro Series, they will have to attend one more event from the remaining two events. Each circuit team is obliged to play five out of seven events.

MIBR has been going through a rough patch. Soon after ESL One: Cologne 2019, Marcelo “coldzera” David requested to be benched from the team and the team went ahead with their coach, Wilton “zews” Prado. However, it still remains unclear whether the coach will be allowed to play at major alongside FalleN and co.

MIBR received fourth invite for the event, one invitee still remains disclosed. Three teams were previously invited – Na’Vi, NiP, ENCE. The sixth and the final team would be decided through the CIS qualifier.

BLAST Pro Series Moscow will be held on September 13-14 at VTB Arena in the capital city of Russia. Six teams will battle for the mighty share of $250,000 USD. Talent crew and several other details are still awaited.
