Valve bars CSGO Keys trading citing worldwide financial frauds

The latest CSGO update brought a massive change to the game which makes the new keys untradable among users over at the Steam Community Market.

In the post released by Valve, they pointed out the increase in amount of key purchases across the market and how frauding agencies are using it to liquefy their funds. Putting this out as the main reason for such an update. The post further highlighted that “at this point, nearly all key purchases that end up being traded or sold on the marketplace are believed to be fraud-sourced.”

You can find the full 10/29/2019 update patch notes below:

[MISC]

  • Added restrictions on tradability and marketability of newly purchased case keys, see here for more details.

EG are currently on thin ice, with Astralis just 30 points behind. Blast Pro Copenhagen which starts tomorrow will provide Astralis with a golden opportunity to take over EG as they will not be attending the event.

The rankings are as follows:

Date set for FaZe Clan vs Tfue hearing

0

The latest dock entries suggest 8th November is set to be the first major hearing of FaZe Clanโ€™s lawsuit against Turner โ€œTfueโ€ Tenny.

Tfue and his legal team previously accused FaZe Clan of exploiting him over improper contract terms. His legal team stressed the fact that FaZe Clan takes the most of what Tfue makes and forced him into activities such as gambling, drinking and forcing him to live in one of their houses of which FaZe Banks publicly denied. Tfueโ€™s legal team argued that their business with FaZe took place in California and the lawsuit should be continued accordingly by treating FaZe as a latent agency who failed to do right by Tfue but FaZe beg to differ. The eSports organization suggests that they are an org based in Delaware and the contract for Tfue was crafted in accordance with the jurisdiction of New York which means California court should dismiss the lawsuit under non-conveniens.

FaZeโ€™s lawyers says this abstention is invalid in the court documents:

In the instant motion, defendant Turner Tenney (โ€œTenneyโ€) asks the Court to abstain from exercising its rightful jurisdiction so that this case can be heard instead in a California state court. However, the contract at the heart of this case contains a mandatory and exclusive forum selection clause that requires it to be adjudicated in New York, under New York law. As discussed in detail below, there is no basis for the Court to abstain from exercising its jurisdiction in this case.

Tfueโ€™s legal team is also forcing the issue as they are accusing FaZe of deliberately slowing down the proceedings by intentionally making themselves not available for the hearing.

Third, the relative progress of this case compared to the Labor Commissioner Proceeding and the LASC Action favors abstention. FaZe Clan concedes as it must that both the Labor Commissioner Proceeding and the LASC Action were filed before this action. In addition, both California’s actions are moving forward, despite FaZe Clanโ€™s transparent efforts to slow them down. FaZe Clan has just advised the Labor Commissioner that it is completely unavailable between November 18, 2019 and February 16, 2020 for an evidentiary hearing in that matter โ€“ a representation belied by FaZe Clanโ€™s evident interest in accelerating this action.

They also disagree with FaZeโ€™s claims about being incorporated in Delaware and as they are headquartered in California, they are to face the lawsuit under Californiaโ€™s jurisdiction.

Taking the case away from California would put FaZe in a better position to defend themselves as it would immediately dismiss a lot of points form Tfueโ€™s argument and would potentially shape up as a huge victory for FaZe Clan.

Esports casters sheds light on the horrors of late payment in the industry

1

We all know how annoying it gets when someone owes you a lot of money but are least bothered about providing you the payment on time and you have to constantly nudge them about it, well this feeling gets worse when the person who owes you money is a large company/ organization and they keeping pushing the payment dates backwards.

This problem is quite major in the esports scene because most of the talents working in the scene are freelancers. The above mentioned problem is rather very noticeable in the CS:GO scene because all the talents involved are freelancers.

Famous caster and commentator Vince โ€˜OnFireVinceโ€™ Hill expressed his concerns online on October 24, he alleged that he is still owed payment from over two months ago, and that he has been constantly ignored even after reaching out to the people responsible for it multiple times.

https://twitter.com/OnFireVince/status/1187393470064975873

Fellow caster under the Room On Fire team, Jason โ€˜mosesโ€™ Oโ€™Toole replied to Vince saying that he himself was tired of handling it internally, and may resort to publicly calling out these organizations, but Vince warned of the dangers of calling big organizations out publicly. He later acknowledged in a follow-up video that his tweet might have put him in a really bad spot. Regardless, Vince seemed fearless and in his video he added and pointed out how frequently this happens in the scene. โ€œEvent after event after event. This isnโ€™t the first time itโ€™s happened, it isnโ€™t even the tenth time itโ€™s happened. It happens all the time to all of us.โ€ This claim, that payment delays happen to multiple casters and talents at the very tops of their games was backed up by a plethora of talents replying to his original tweet with their own tales of woe regarding late payments.

Although, none of the talents decided to name any of the organizations or organizers that were involved in late payment issues, it is only a matter of time before the frustration of late payments push the casters and talents to resort to public call-outs unless the issues are resolved with haste.
