Liquid edge out Fnatic to face Astralis in the Finals of ECS Season 8

Team Liquid had an impressive start to 2019 taking several trophies from the hands of the Astralis, unlocking the Intel Grand Slam earlier this year. They went into the Starladder Major as heavy favorites to hoist the trophy but they failed to do so. Since then for the later part of this year Liquid seems to be only a shadow of what they were. But Liquid were back to dominating teams in ECS Season 8 and they managed a grand final spot against the world number 1 Astralis at the cost of Fnatic.

MAP1: Overpass

The first map was Overpass, picked by the Swedes where the Americans barely put up a fight. Liquid starting on the offense didnโ€™t stand much of a chance only managing 5 rounds. The constant aggression from Fnatic on the defense caught them off-guard time and time again. Some individual sparks from Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski with a quad kill and Keith ‘NAF’ Markovicโ€™s 1v3 clutch put the few of the numbers on the board for them. When the teams switched side, Fnatic looked to have their entire offense mapped out, giving Liquid only one round on the defense, taking the first map with a convincing 16-6 scoreline in favor of the Swedes.

MAP 2: Inferno

Team Liquid equalized the series with the exact same scoreline from the first map but in their favor. Teams clashed on Inferno, with the North American side on the defense. Both the halves repeated a similar story from the first half with Team Liquid as the protagonist. Liquid playing at off-angles and throwing unexpected flanks at Fnatic which caught them with their backs turned several times, closing the first half 10-5. Liquid had their number once they went over to the T-Side, sparing them one round only Liquid managed to grab 6 out of the 7 rounds to even things up with 16-6 scoreline.

MAP 3: Mirage

Deciding map Mirage was much more of a brawl with the Fnatic taking the pistol round and securing the SMG buy round. Liquid brought the rifles in the 3rd round when Fnatic lost their bonus round and Liquid were on the streak till 5 rounds before a 1v3 from JW with just a deagle made the contest closer. Fnatic barely edged out Liquid in the first half with an 8-7 scoreline. Twistzz was in the mood to pop some heads once he was moved to the CT side, with a clinical 3k on the pistol round. Fnatic only managed two rounds on the offense, Liquid were a rock on the CT side taking all the remaining rounds to close the final map with a 16-10 scoreline.

Liquid are set to face the Danes later today at 14:30IST, this will be a mouthwatering clash as Astralis were deeply tested by lesser-known opponents earlier this tournament and Liquid are fighting more much more than a trophy, they are seeking the revenge for Berlin back in September and are aiming for the number 1 spot in HLTV rankings.

Entity Gaming add Ace

After the culmination of ESL India Premiership Fall Season the roster shuffle is in full swing and with the announcement of DeathMaker joining Global esports, it is imminent that Tejas โ€œrite2aceโ€ Sawant is taking his place in the line-up.

DeathMaker’s potential release marks the end of his second stint with Entity, the current one being far more successful than his first one, albeit this one being a short-term association.

The two players interestingly, were on the same side at the ESL INDIA Premiership Fall Season LAN Finale in Hyderabad as part of the OrglessFive line-up that beat Global Esports in the Grand Final and took home the trophy.

Ace is a revered figure in the Indian Counter-Strike scene and was part of the Wolf lineup that is the only Indian roster to have represented the nation in a Major (ESL Cologne 2014). The 26-year-old has gained invaluable experience during his time in XCN before returning to India under the Signify banner. His presence in the roster will bring a lot of experience and firepower as well.

The two players interestingly, were on the same side at the ESL INDIA Premiership Fall Season LAN Finale in Hyderabad as part of the Orgless Five lineup that beat Global Esports in the Grand Final and took home the trophy.

It will be intriguing to see what other roster moves are in works within the Indian Counter Strike scene, now that the roster shuffle season is truly here.

PMCO 2019 Global Finals day 1: Entity Gaming make it to top 3; Soul claims chicken dinner

0

Day 1 at PMCO 2019 Global Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has come to an end after 4 carnage filled exhilarating matches. The Hindi Stream matches were casted by India finest, 8BitThug, Krat and Ocean. The Hindi Stream had a concurrent viewership of 120,000 and the chat section was filled with supportive messages for our homegrown heroes, Entity Gaming and Team Soul.

Highlights of day 1

Game 1 was dominated by Bigetron’s Luxyy who carried his team to victory after winning a 1v2v2 clutch against Top esports and ARW. The map was Sanhok, the most exciting and fast paced map out of the entire pool although we saw no action till the 13th minute of the game. Team Soul was handed over an early exit at position 15 by Team EGC. Team Soul managed to get no kills in Sanhok and later on, Entity was eliminated at position 9. Mega esports, the Preliminary round winners made an exit at position 6 and North American representatives Cloud 9 made it to position 4. The final battle was a triple squad standoff where Luxyy, the star player of Bigetron managed to outplay the remaining duos from Top esports and ARW, claiming the Chicken Dinner.

Game 2 took us to the desert of Miramar, the glorious land of snipers and open vast lands perfect for ambushes and vehicular warfare. Everything went wrong for Team Soul when Mortal was the first man to be killed, merely minuted into the match. Previous year’s winning team, Top Esports were the first squad to be eliminated by Mega Esports who owned them in a post zone crossfire. Team Soul followed an early exit at Position 13 losing a gun fight to Unicorns. Entity’s Ghatak made a grave mistake by over committing for a kill costing his life, leaving Neyooo, Aman and Jonathan without a captain in action. Entity although, with an impressive run made it to a final standoff against Illuminate the Murder where they managed to come in 2nd bagging 24 points with 10 kills. Here’s the point table after Game 2:

Game 3 is where the sleeping giant was finally awakened. Vikendi, the frozen battleground hosted some early game action with Soul Mortal grabbing first blood vs Mega Esports. Entity got an early advantage with Jonathan slyly looting an air drop with level 3 gear and an Awp. Things soon went wrong for them as Aman and Ghatak were downed by RRQ AThena leaving the remaining two players surrounded by Illuminate. Entity eventually took a 16th position exit, the very first team to leave the game. Team Soul made their way to Villa and established a stronghold there which no team was willing to contest early on. Mega esports took down Unicorns and made their way to the central zone. The 6th zone developed a 5 squad standoff near Villa where Team Soul was safely camping inside, exhibiting some smart gameplay and letting the other teams fight. Team Queso came by and were caught against team Soul where ClutchGod braved a 1v3 wiping TQ. The winning moment was a healing battle against team Unique as the final zone had collapsed. Soul Mortal outplayed UniqOldBoy claiming the Chicken Dinner for his team.

Game 4 was played on Erangel where Cloud9 took a position 15 exit with Team Soul following at pos. 12 after losing a gunfight to Illuminate. Erangel being a large map, teams engaged less into fights and more into looting and position to gain a late game advantage. At the 6th circle, Entity decimated unicorn gaming tying the kill score with Bigetron at 8 kills. Top esports got out at position 7 leaving the two brothers, Luxyy and Zuxxy of Bigetron in a standoff with Entity. Ghatak rushed into the fight and got picked off by Luxy but Entity took out Bigetron in a 3v1 fight. The final fight was a three way duel between Entity, Team Queso and Illuminate. Team Queso emerged victorious and Entity bagged second place with an impressive 11 kills and key player award bagged by Jonathan. This was the second time Entity placed 2nd in a match giving them a fair point advantage.

The final points table after day 1 was as follows:

Tomorrow morning will mark the beginning of day 2 where a total of 6 matches will be played. We congratulate both Team Soul and Entity Gaming for a brilliant performance today and we wish them best of luck for tomorrow.

Global Esports add Antidote, DeathMaker; tito and rex moved to bench

With the end of the ESL India Premiership Fall Season a few days ago at the Fall Season LAN Finale in Hyderabad, the transfer season is on.

Orgless5, playing with Deathmaker (of Entity gaming) beat Global Esports to win the title of Fall season CSGO Champions, thereby earning a slot at Dreamhack Delhi CSGO Invitational.

This result can be called an upset of sorts for Global Esports, who were considered favourites to take the crown.

Keeping the results of the fall season in mind, it was widely expected that most of the teams would undergo roster changes.

The roster changes have finally begun.

Global Esports have secured the services of Sunny โ€œDeathmakerโ€ Das, who was last seen playing for Entity Gaming at the Zowie Extremesland ASIA CSGO LAN final in China. Deathmaker had only recently joined the Entity gaming line-up in August 2019.

Joining him at Global Esports will be none other than Sabyasachi โ€œAntidoteโ€ Bose, who was last seen playing for Orgless5 at the ESL India Premiership FALL LAN Finale. Antidote is no stranger to Global Esports, having played for the organisation in the past.

Meanwhile, Rahul โ€œt1toSAVAGEโ€ Sridhar and Tejas โ€œRexyโ€ Kotian have been benched.

It is no secret that Sagnik โ€˜Hellffโ€™ Roy, Sunny โ€œDeathmakerโ€ Das and Sabyasachi โ€œAntidoteโ€ Bose are the best of friends. Maybe that is what propelled this move into fruition?

Only time will tell if Global Esports will be able to dominate the Indian CSGO scene with this new roster.

New Global Esports CSGO Roster:

โ€ข Bhavin โ€œHellrangeRโ€ Kotwani
โ€ข Sagnik โ€˜Hellffโ€™ Roy
