ESPL 2021 Unveils Its Third City Based Franchise Team Rajasthan Reapers

The Rajasthan Reapers: The third City Based Franchise Team in ESPL 2021.

The ESPL 2021 tournament by India Today Gaming has entered its final phase where the top 8 teams from the second level stage each represent their own city to compete against each other to claim the title of India’s best Free Fire Team and the GRAND Rs.12,00,000 prize money.

This article is to introduce the fourth Franchise Team- Rajasthan Reapers. This team is represented by Team “4 UNKNOWN” with the following players on its roster:

  • 4Un-Swastik
  • 4UN-Anand
  • 4UN-RadheTKR
  • 4UN-WizardD
  • 4UN-Deadsoul

The team is owned by Atharv Rao a.k.a Aditech. Atharv is a student and Youtuber from Sheoganj, Rajasthan. He is a Youtuber by passion and loves to stream and play

Free Fire. He is just 15 years old and is the youngest team owner in ESPL 2021. He goes by the name Aditech on YouTube and currently has more than 3.73M subscribers.

The Rajasthan Reapers team was revealed by Ashok Chandna,  The Hon’ble Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Govt. of Rajasthan, on August 13th, live on ESPL’s reveal stream. At the reveal event he said:

I heartily congratulate all players of Rajasthan Reapers and we the people of Rajasthan hope you guys perform very well and make Rajasthan proud. Congratulations and All the Best.

Stay tuned as ESPL 2021 is going to be the First and biggest pan-India tournament by India Today Gaming sponsored by Infinix Note 10 Series Smartphone. The tournament is powered by PTC Punjabi and the Official Snacking Partner Sunfeast Yippee! Noodles.

India Today has signed Indian Bollywood Star Tiger Shroff as its official Brand Ambassador. The matches can be watched live in six languages:  Hindi, English, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Bengali. The live stream will be available on Youtube, Facebook India Today Gaming, and on Disney+Hotstar.

Sweden Eases Travel Restrictions for Esports Athletes; Stockholm Major 2021 Still on the Cards

It’s official! The ministry of Sweden has relaxed the restrictions on esports athletes, providing them with the same travel exemptions as any other mainstream sport in the country.

Moving forward, esports athletes from across the globe will be allowed entry to Sweden upon providing a negative COVID-19 test, as stated in a recent report by Swedish newspaper Expressen.

Needless to say, this is exciting news for esports fans worldwide. Even more so for fans of the popular shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, as it implies that the highly anticipated PGL Major 2021 is one step closer to being organized in Sweden.

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ CEO Hicham Chahine took it to Twitter to celebrate the news. Chahine had been actively working with the Swedish authorities for the organization of the PGL Major 2021 in Stockholm, Sweden. 

Had the travel restrictions for esports athletes not been eased, PGL would have been forced to move the major to another country entirely. In fact, PGL was already in discussions with other European countries regarding the subject in case they had to move the major away from Sweden.

If things go smoothly, CSGO fans might be able to see the PGL Major 2021 taking place in Stockholm as scheduled from October 23 – November 7 with a full house during the playoffs at Avicii Arena.

Previously, the $40 million Dota 2 tournament, The International 10, had to be moved out of Sweden due to the Swedish government’s stance to not accept esports into the sports federation, and the subsequent denial by Sweden’s Minister of the Interior to reclassify TI 10 as an elite sporting event.

CSGO: PGL Stockholm Major verdict enters final hurdle

Earlier in January 2021, North American event organizer PGL had announced that it would host CSGO’s 16th Major on LAN in Stockholm in Sweden from October 23 till November 7 with a whopping $2M USD up for grabs.

The venue decided is the famous Ericsson Globe which had earlier hosted the DreamHack Invitational in 2014 and DreamHack Masters Stockholm in 2018.

Today as per a report from Swedish media Outlet Expressen, the Swedish government has eased off restrictions over Esports players entering Sweden from across the globe, provided that they produce a NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST result prior to their departure. 

Mr. Mikael Damberg, Sweden’s Minister of the Interior in a statement said that his nation would definitely like to treat Esports players like every other Elite sports athlete. This indeed has rekindled the hope for the entire CSGO community to witness the Major in Stockholm. 

Earlier PGL were seen pondering over the Venue selection and considered moving the Major to either one of two unnamed European countries due to the travel restrictions and the audience limit set by the Swedish Authorities. PGL and TalkEsport had previously reported two key deadlines in the wake of hosting the major with one of them now fully being qualified whereas the second one would require the Ericsson Globe to have a full house during the playoffs. 

In July, Sweden had set a travel restriction that would allow just 300 spectators at the venue Versus a desired Full house attendance. The verdict on the same can be expected by September 15. The ticket sales for the event will go live on September 16, irrespective of the determined location ahead towards the major.

This verdict was further hyped by NiP CEO Hicham Chahine on Twitter where he seemed to be excited towards the Major being held in Sweden.

Earlier in July, Noble Esports had mutually parted ways with their Valorant roster only to be picked by TSM.FTX as the latter’s secondary roster, a month later. The announcement was made official by TSM.FTX on Twitter and dubbed as the “next generation of Valorant”. 

Under Noble, Colin “Precision” O’Neill and co made their first-ever VCT appearance in the Open Qualifier of Stage 3 Challengers 1 where they had denied TSM, a spot further in the event leading them to elimination from the event. Although they were halted by 100 Thieves in the Round of 16, they indeed left the tournament as a potential prospect, to be looked upon in the future. Things eventually entered into a downward spiral as they were released from contract by Noble on a mutual note. 

Before being dropped, Aleko ‘Leviathan’ Gabuniya was acquired by TSM to replace Taylor ‘drone’ Johnson who was moved to the bench by the Los-Angeles-based team. Noble then had signed Carlo ‘Dcop’ Delsol from EZ5 to their Valorant division. 

ex-Noble (now TSM.FTX Academy) are set to debut at the NSG 2021 Summer Championship and will go against Cloud9 Blue in the Group F of the former. Cloud9 Blue Valorant will also debut with their new In-game leader Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, whom they acquired from Version1.

Valorant Conquerors Championship Playoffs set to start

At the end of May, Riot had announced its collaboration with Nodwin Gaming to give the South Asian region its first-ever official Championship event, a part of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Circuit.

The Conquerors Championship playoffs event will lead the winner to the APAC Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) and from there onto the VCT Champions event, to be held later in November. Valorant Conquerors Championship is a framework of the VCT Circuit which would further help teams and their players from the South Asian region make an impact alongside the rest teams from across the globe. Nodwin in a press release stated that VCC will have a prize pool of 25 Lakhs INR ($33,700 USD approx).

Five regional qualifiers along with a wildcard event had been decked up by the event organizer.  India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan were provided with two sets of qualifiers in a bid to accommodate every team willing to compete for the ultimate battle and due to their past historic presence in Esports. A total of 7 teams advanced from these said qualifiers with Enigma gaming from India making it through to the Playoffs from the Wildcard. 

The final list of teams who have qualified for the Playoffs are as follows and have been split into two groups A & B.

Group A

  • Velocity Gaming : India Qualifier #1
  • Team Exploit : Pakistan & Afghanistan Qualifier #2
  • Exceeli Esports : Bangladesh Qualifier
  • Crash Landin on You : Sri Lanka & Maldives Qualifier

Group B

  • Global Esports : India Qualifier #2
  • Salt Esports : Pakistan & Afghanistan Qualifier #1
  • Damaru Gaming : Nepal & Bhutan Qualifier
  • Enigma Gaming : Wildcard 

The Playoffs event will run from August 20-22 with the Upper and Lower Bracket matches scheduled to start from August 27. You can catch the entire action live on Nodwin’s YouTube Channel. The winner of this event will secure the one and only final spot at the APAC Last Chance Qualifier. 

Match-ups have already been determined for both the groups and will engage in a GSL format with the top 2 teams from each advancing on to the Finals.

Orange Rock Esports has announced an invitational Battlegrounds Mobile India tournament featuring top-tier teams in the Indian competitive circuit. This tournament will take place on the upcoming weekend and the winner will walk away with a lion’s share of ₹2,00,000 prize pool.

The OR Championship Legend Rise 2021 will be a three-day tournament and run from 20th to 22nd August. Several well-known teams are invited for this tournament in an effort to boost BGMI esports in India.

OR Championship Legend Rise 2021 also has special rewards for the MVP players and for fulfilling certain roles. Players will get gaming accessories and bragging rights after winning those titles.

Random Valorant Player Tracks Down VCT Observer to Return Stolen Account

VCT observer Nicholas “Yehty” Tesolin could end up bidding farewell to his precious Valorant account had it not been for a good samaritan who decided to go out of his way to return the stolen account to its rightful owner.

An unexpected email took Yehty by surprise on the morning of August 18th as a random Valorant player claimed that his account was stolen.

The player mentioned in the email that there’s a trend going on in Turkey where someone would steal the credentials of a Valorant account and put them up for sale at cheap prices. 

“Last week my friend bought a random account and it’s actually your account,” the player said in his email. He then proceeded to provide Yehty with the id and pass of the stolen account to prove that he was telling the truth. 

The Valorant player also repeatedly reassured Yehty that he didn’t mean any harm through the email and simply wanted to return his stolen account since he felt that “this is someone else’s account and it’s just not good.”

“I did some research on you and found out you are a Riot observer, right?” the email continued. “I just wanted to let you know I’m against this random account thing and I’m just informing you that your account has been stolen I guess. So just change your password and be careful please.”

Yehty has shared a screenshot of the email in a recent Tweet. 

“I just received one of the most unreal emails of my life” he said. “Someone tracked down who I was based off their friend someone buying access to my account that had been breached. He emailed me to let me know what was happening.”

He also thanked the good samaritan to whom he owed his Valorant account in a follow-up Tweet. “Big thank you to this guy, he’s a legend for taking the initiative to reach out,” the Tweet reads. 

While Yehty was lucky enough to get his account back, most players might end up losing their accounts permanently if they fall victim to scams like these. Fans are hoping for Riot to implement stricter measures on account security to prevent incidents like these from resurfacing in future.
