PMPL South Asia 2021 SW1 Day 3: Recap, Overall Standings, Results

The final day of the PMPL South Asia Season 4: Super weekend Week 1 ended with Trained to Kill leading the standings with 167 points. The team managed to take 71 kills out of the 15 matches played by them. The squad also got the highest placement points (96) which helped them to retain a lead of 23 points from the second leaderboard topper. The team took a total of 4 chicken dinners which were the highest by any team in the event.

Zeus Esports finished at the 2nd spot with 144 points including the 76 kill points. The squad was the highest kill points leader of the Super Weekend week 1. The third spot on the leaderboard was taken by Vibes Esports with 134 points.

Super weekend points will decide the League Stage overall standings of PUBG Mobile Pro League South Asia Season 4. After three weeks of play, the top 16 teams will qualify for PMPL South Asia Season 4 finals.

Call of Duty Mobile New theme, 2nd-anniversary events announced

Recently, Activision announced the celebration of its 2nd anniversary with a major update in season 8. The update will be featuring the new Blackout Battle Royale map, a new single-player experience, new items and events, a brand-new Battle Pass, and much more.

It has been two years, since the release of the game worldwide. To celebrate this major milestone, they are bringing all kinds of goodies and surprises to the upcoming season. New Battle Royale map, New single-player experience, and major upgrades, events, and other anniversary content. Season 8 will be going live on September 22 at 5 PM PT on the 2nd anniversary.

New Themed and 2nd Anniversary Events

The COD Mobile team is bringing three events to celebrate 2nd Anniversary, starting with the Counterattack Themed Event. This event introduces NPCs to Blackout, as players will search for and recruit characters scattered throughout the map. Complete a character’s mission to recruit them and earn the ability to send them out on assignments. Progress through the reward track as your recruited Operators bring back event points.

The next event in the celebration will be the Anniversary Cake Event. 2nd Anniversary balloons will be scattered throughout Multiplayer and Battle Royale. Pop them to earn resources, letters from the development team, and cake pieces. Build up the cake and earn rewards. The last event will be the new puzzle event. Players can earn tokens for in-game activities that can be traded for puzzle pieces.

Earn New Rewards in the 2nd Anniversary Battle Pass

Call of Duty Mobile is bringing new rewards in the 2nd-anniversary battle pass event. It’s packed full of free and premium content, including new Operators, a new functional weapon, Weapon Blueprints, Calling Cards, Charms, Call of Duty Points (CP), and more.

The players can unlock the Lightning Strike Scorestreak at Tier 14 and mark their targets for destruction. At Tier 21, they gain access to the new R9-0 functional weapon. Other free tier items include the ICR-1 – Infraggable, the Wingsuit – Broken Road, and more.

Premium Pass Tiers

Also, they can get the Battle Pass for the chance to earn all of the content available in the 2nd Anniversary stream. Take to the field as the infamous General Shepherd, along with Alias — Battleworn, Velikan — Volcanic Ash, and Price — Bravo 6. Get access to new Weapon Blueprints like the R9-0 — Master of Snakes, Holger 26 — Anodized, CR-56 AMAX — Tattered Shot, RUS-79U —Hard Spike, and the MK2 — Future Sharpshooter.

PMPL South Asia 2021 Super Weekend Week 1 Day 2: Overall Standings, Results

The second day of the PMPL South Asia week 1 supper weekend ended with i8 Esports on the top of leaderboards with 97 points.

The team managed to climb at the top of the overall standing after finishing at the second spot after the completion of day 2. While Deadeyes Guys climbed up from sixth to the second position on day 2 with 94 points. Bablu X Clarity Esports holds the third spot in the leaderboards with 91 points.

Day 2 didn’t go as planned for teams such as A1 Esports and Wizzes with vibes who managed to score 54  and 53 points respectively on the overall leaderboard.

PMPL SOUTH ASIA FORMAT

The Pro League South Asia 2021 S4 League stage will be held from September 21st – October 10th, 2021. The matches will be played in TPP Mode where 20 teams are split into 5 groups. Three weeks of League Play will be held further divided into Weekdays and Super Weekend. Each team plays a total of 8 matches a week, every Tuesday and Wednesday. The top 16 teams qualify for the Super Weekend. Only points of each Super Weekend are cumulated towards league standings. The top 16 teams based on Super Weekend points are qualified for South Asia Fall Finals.

Tomorrow will be the completion of the week 1 super weekend stage. All the teams will be looking to take a major lead in the points table to get a bit closer to the PMPL South Asia finals.

Nigma Galaxy to venture into multiple Esports, includes CSGO, Valorant and PUBG Mobile

A brand new merger has been sparked between Team Nigma and Galaxy Racer, known as the “Nigma Galaxy” ahead of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region’s upbringing in Esports. 

Initially formed by Ex-Liquid DOTA2, and the champions at The International 7, Team Nigma was assembled in November 2019, and since then have been backed by Etihad Airways and twofour54 Abu Dhabi. Their switch to the MENA region saw Galaxy Racer to be their competitor only to merge after both the teams developed a relationship and shared the same passion towards Esports. Although Nigma would retain their position to lead their own brand, financial roadmap, and approach towards the game while their team merch would drop with the updated logo, now featuring a Galaxy Racer artstyle.

This would be Galaxy Racer’s second merger in just two months as they previously set up ties with Spanish Football Competitor La Liga to bring entertainment before their fans from Spain.  

In addition to this, both sides, now known, Nigma Galaxy, are keen to bolster their reach across the globe as they now look forward to venture in other Esports titles like CSGO, Valorant, League of Legends, Wild Rift, Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile under the Nigma Racer banner. They will be overseen by Team Nigma’s co-founders Mohamed Morad, Christoph Timm, and Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi. 

Lately, there have been Esports organizations signing themselves a Valorant roster due to the game’s unassailable hype and with a positive response from its pro scene. With Nigma Galaxy DOTA2 on the board, they are bound to get a formidable fan-base once they start looking for multiple kinds of talent across other titles. 

Together the new organisation will look to build an authentic voice for the MENA region, establish itself as the #1 esports organisation in the world and give its players an international platform. Nigma Galaxy will look to become a household name for players of the region to be proud of, and with aspirations to become a global player it will also use existing resources from Galaxy Racer to expand further within Europe, South and North America, Southeast Asia and China.

DOTA2: Valve to remove support for 32 Bit systems

Earlier this week, Valve through a press release declared the all new The International Compendium ahead of the forthcoming The International 10 alongside an update on the ticket sales, F.A.Q headlining the travel restrictions, fantasy leagues featuring player cards and informative HUD updates within the game.

There is more to the above-said stuff as Valve now looks forward to carry the Dota Technology forward.  As we all know, Dota2 is powered by the Source 2 engine and in order to keep it fresh and updated, game developers will now be working on the game to not support older systems and configurations although these changes would be implemented in the coming months. 

The following changes below will be transitioned into the game, ending support for older machines running on 32-bit operating systems.

1. As said, you would need to upgrade to a system with a 64-bit machine and operating system.
2. The game won’t  run on MacOS versions below 10.14
3. DirectX 9 API (Application Programming Interface) would now cease to support the game as the players would need to switch to the DirectX 11 iteration.
4. Vulkan will now replace OpenGL. These two are the APIs responsible for the hardware-accelerated rendering where they interact with the Graphics Processing Unit  (GPU)
5. The support for XAudio (-xaudio) will be removed while the use of SDL Audio (-sdlaudio)  will now be in effect.

Valve in a press release further stated,

“For the vast majority of players, nothing will change when these changes are implemented. Most machines already support any of the newer technologies necessary. In fact, most players are already benefiting from the newer technologies, whether it’s via larger content sizes, higher frame rates, better graphical fidelity, or cleaner sounding audio. Removing these older technologies will let us streamline our development efforts as well as use the newer features of these APIs to provide an even better Dota experience.” 

The International 10 returns to Bucharest, Romania this fall to be played at the Arena Națională football stadium. Valve announced ticket sales for the International 10, to start from September 22. Eighteen teams across the Dota Pro Circuit [DPC] and regional qualifiers made it through to the main event and would now battle it out to lift the Aegis of Champions.

The 10th iteration of the International will return to the European zone after a span of 11 years with Germany being the last venue to ever have hosted an International in 2011. Known as the “TI”, the latter had been an annual event until it was called off in 2020 amid the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic which forced every Esports initiative to transition to an online format.

Sony unveiled Fortnite PlayStation Cup with an enormous prize pool

Sony has officially announced the Fortnite PlayStation Cup only for PS4 and PS5 gamers. These two Fortnite cups are going to start from October 2 with a whopping $113,400 prize pool for each one of them.

According to Sony, this cup will have Solo Fortnite competitions’ format instead of any special mode. All the competitors will dive into the battle royale map to compete against each other.

There are indeed a few rules that you should definitely know about. All the players will start with zero points. In the first round, they will play a total of 10 games. In the end, player placement will depend on the point and a player gets a point for each elimination.

The top 100 players of every region will qualify for the 2nd round. A total of six games will determine the seven players who will be awarded as the region champions. However, in the 2nd round, each elimination will be rewarded with double points. Players from 1st to 64th place will receive a part of the prize pool.

How to participate in Fortnite PlayStation Cup?

Literally, any PS4 and PS5 player can participate in this tournament. You just have to go to the Compete tab in Fortnite.

Note: A few requirements are there such as enabling 2FA or reaching level 30.

Nodwin Gaming partners with Samay Raina and Chessbase India to launch Chess Super League

After its latest acquisition of gaming IPs and talents of OML Entertainment, Nodwin Gaming is back again with another big and exciting announcement. This time the company has managed to partner with ChessBase India and Samay Raina to launch India’s first-ever online chess league called the Chess Super League. 

CSL will be India’s first-ever live-casted chess league that will feature some of the top grandmasters and international masters from India and the world battling it out to claim the Champion title and win a whopping INR 40 Lakhs in prize money. 

The first season of the CSL will be from 11th October to 17th October and feature 6 teams of 6 players each including 6 top Grandmasters from across the globe among Men and Women – 6 top men and women players from India and 6 top Indian junior boys and girls. A whopping INR 40 Lakhs prize pool will be distributed among the winner of Season 1 of CSL. 

The 6 teams will be spearheaded by franchise owners who will support and represent their squad throughout the Chess Super League. The franchise owners of the debut edition include the likes of Tanmay Bhat, Raftaar (Kalamkaar), Zakir Khan, MortaL (S8ul), Biswa Kalyan Rath, and Shreyas Srinivasan (CEO, PayTM Insider). These franchise owners will act as ambassadors and will be the torchbearers for their teams for the entirety of the league.

World Chess Grandmasters like Ding Liren, Hikaru Nakamura, Anish Giri, Teimour Radjabov, Hou Yifan (the strongest female player in the world), Muzychuk sisters, Nana Dzagnidze, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Vidit Gujrathi, Sasikiran Krishnan, Koneru Humpy, Dronavalli Harika, Tania Sachdev and young grandmasters like Gukesh, Raunak Sadhwani, Savitha Shri and others will be competing against each other in the first season of CSL.

Karnataka Proposes Ban on Online Games Involving Betting and Gambling

The government of the Southern State of India  — Karnataka, Home to India’s Silicon Valley aka Banglore, has proposed a law to ban online games and gaming activities involving elements of wagering and gambling in an effort to curb the increasing gambling addiction among the rural youth population. 

The Karnataka government has moved a bill proposing an amendment to the “Karnataka Police Act” to include online games, seeking to ban “any act of risking money, or otherwise on the unknown result of an event including on a game of skill,” according to the bill seen by Reuters.

The bill was proposed for the sole purpose of “safeguarding” the rural youngsters from becoming “habitual gamblers.” As per the government officials, the youth population from the rural areas of the state are left idle due to coronavirus pandemic induced lockdowns and staying at home most days. While the bill looks surprising at first, Karnataka isn’t the only state in India to ban online games involving prize money and gambling elements. It is the 4th state after Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh to introduce such a bill.

It is important to note that the bill will directly affect India’s leading fantasy gaming platforms – Dream11 and Mobile Premier League (MPL), which offer fantasy cricket and football games with the prospect of money to be won. Some industry sources spoke with Reuters and said:

Business of MPL, Dream11, and everyone in the sector will suffer. These states are important – they roughly account for 20% of (the total) business for such companies.

Due to the covid induced lockdowns across the country, the online gaming industry in India has grown significantly to the point of foreign investors showing great interest in gaming startups and investing funds. As per a report by All India Gaming Federation, India currently has more than 400 online gaming startups and will have 550 million online gamers by 2022, a staggering growth from the 360 million online gamers in 2020. The gaming industry is expected to be worth more than $2 billion by 2023 making it the fourth-biggest gaming market after China, the USA, and the European Union (EU). 

While The Dream11 and MPL platforms have grown considerably during the past few years, legislation like these will directly hurt their business model and make it incredibly difficult for them to turn a profit. Dream11 is also seeking a U.S. listing by early next year which will become harder after losing 20% of its total business due to the said gambling bills.  

Sandeep Chilana, a New Delhi-based lawyer, spoke with Reuters and said that these laws have a weak legal standing given the Supreme Court has repeatedly said skill-based games – like fantasy cricket – are not like gambling which remains largely prohibited across India.

“Indian states are overreaching and will face legal challenges by banning such skill games,” said Chilana.

The potential ban of one of India’s biggest sponsors of esports tournaments will also hurt professional players, said Esports Players Welfare Association, a non-profit for online gamers.

“Games and esports are areas where skill can be developed as a result of which it is not a sin activity,” the group said.

The companies affected by such bills will likely form a group and move to the Supreme Court of India in the hope for the court to strike down these laws and give a legal shielding for the companies from such bills in the future.
