ENCE Qualify For IEM Katowice 2022 Main Event over GODSENT

ENCE made it to IEM Katowice 2022 Group stages with their win over GODSENT. The series was much closer than expected and GODSENT fought tooth and nail on the second map to take us to a third. Even on Mirage they were in the Driver’s seat but failed to find success on the T side and ENCE emerged victoriously. GODSENT will go home alongside BIG, Renegades, and MIBR as they failed to make it past the play-ins.

MAP VETO

  • ENCE removed Inferno
  • GODSENT removed Dust2
  • ENCE picked Nuke
  • GODSENT picked Ancient
  • ENCE removed Vertigo
  • GODSENT removed Overpass
  • Mirage was left over

MAP 1: Nuke

ENCE 16-5 GODSENT

They say Danes have an affinity for Nuke in CSGO and ENCE’s IGL Snappi showed us that it was indeed true today. They lost the pistol but Spearheaded by aim star Spinx and then a clutch by Snappi, ENCE dismantled the Brazilian defense on Nuke. 11-2 down at one point, GODSENT looked deflated but managed to find 2 towards the end to end the half 11-4.

But the CT defense from ENCE was even stronger as they lost just 1 round and completed a swift 16-5  win over the Brazilians.

MAP 2: Ancient

ENCE 19-22 GODSENT

The second map, the pick of GODSENT, was split right down the middle throughout the game. From the start dumau was the star of the show, especially on the CT side where he had a huge impact. GODSENT had a decent T side to start the proceedings with 7 T rounds which is respectable enough considering the CT bias of Ancient.

The Brazilians looked as if they would take their pick with ease as they led ENCE by 13-10 but inspired AWPing from hades helped ENCe get to map point and it was GODSENT who had to sweat in the last 2  to take it to OT.

In overtime 1 the teams were neck and neck again and a second OT was required wherein GODSENT managed to pull through to win 22-19 and find themselves on Mirage as the decider.

MAP 3: Mirage

ENCE 16-11 GODSENT

Mirage started just like Ancient ended with both teams trading blow for blow on ENCE’s T side. The newest addition, maden alongside Spinx, found entries for ENCE to help them with an advantage and found 7 T rounds at the half.

But spirits were low and GODSENT cashed in on it to go 7-11 up as the second half started.

It was Israeli rifler Spinx yet again on the CT side who shut down the Brazilians, not allowing them a single round as ENCE put up 9 on the trot to send GODSENT packing out of IEM Katowice 2022.

fnatic Eliminate BIG From IEM Katowice 2022

fnatic eliminated German CSGO side BIG in the lower bracket of IEM Katowice 2022 play-ins to go through to the main event. This is the first S tier event for this core of fnatic, after they added ALEX, mezii and smooya. fnatic were always on the backfoot but turned up in spades on the final map to win the series 2-1. They will play in the group stages of IEM Katowice 2022 tomorrow.

MAP VETO

  • fnatic removed Dust2
  • BIG removed Inferno
  • fnatic picked Ancient
  • BIG picked Vertigo
  • fnatic removed Nuke
  • BIG removed Mirage
  • Overpass was left over

MAP 1: Ancient (fnatic 19-17 BIG)

fnatic picked into Ancient hoping to catch BIG off guard but that couldnt be further from the truth. tabseN and co. always had fnatic’s number on the CT side and ALEX’s calling could only help them net 3 T rounds.

The tables would turn the other way for BIG on their T side as they found it difficult to get anything going until the score was 12-12, fnatic coming back from a 9 round deficit to even the tide. The back and forth affair continued and fnatic managed to find their way back and push the game to OT.

That was when Veteran KRIMZ came alive, having been quiet all game. He helped fnatic find the 4 necessary rounds with a 1v2 in the last, as the UK-Swedish side completed a comeback for the ages to win 19-17.

MAP 2: Vertigo (fnatic 13-16 BIG)

BIG decided to go with Vertigo and their T side start was testament as to why. The Germans got off to a blistering start with 7 straight T side rounds, courtesy of AWPer syrsoN and tabseN. After a 7-0 start, things did cool off a bit but BIG continued bullying mezii on the B site and were in the driver’s seat with 10 T rounds to end the half 10-5.

fnatic showed glimpses of yet another comeback with 6 T rounds of their own, and another 2 after losing one, and things looked set for a 2-0 for them as the scoreline read 13-11. But enkay J chimed in during the timeout and BIG looked reinvigorated as they won every round from there on out to end 16-13 and take us to a third map.

MAP 3: Overpass (fnatic 16-12 BIG)

BIG started every map with a pretty big advantage but it was fnatic’s turn now. With 3-time IEM Katowice winner, KRIMZ, at the helm fnatic made BIG sweat every step of the way. They got 8 out of the first 9 rounds, and things might have looked shaky in round 7 but KRIMZ turned up with a stupendous 1v3 clutch to break BIG to the core.

fnatic kept aggressing and multi-kills from mezii and brollan on the B site and connector netted them 13 rounds at the half, the highest round difference in the series till now.

On the T side, fnatic kept trading rounds with BIG but lost control of the money and needed to reset after going up 15-3.  BIG showed promise but it was far too late as fnatic closed it out with 16-8.

Renegades and MIBR Knocked Out of IEM Katowice 2022

Australian CSGO team Renegades were eliminated from IEM Katowice 2022 after their lower bracket loss to Entropiq. Entropiq will go on to face MOUZ later today, for a spot at IEM Katowice 2022 Group Stages. MIBR were also knocked out by Movistar Riders in their game after the Brazilians found themselves in the lower bracket courtesy of the opening round loss to Astralis. Movistar Riders will play NiP in the lower bracket as well for a Group Stage Berth at Katowice.

RENEGADES vs ENTROPIQ

NUKE: RENEGADES 6-16 ENTROPIQ

ANCIENT: RENEGADES 5-16 ENTROPIQ

After a promising start to their campaign vs OG, Renegades crumbled at the final step and OG bounced back to take it to overtime and finally win it out. Entropiq always had the upper hand, being much more experienced in tier 1 as well as being together as a roster for more than 1 year, something that hasn’t been very common to see in CSGO teams. Renegades didn’t look comfortable at all on their pick of Nuke and could only manage 3 T rounds as Entropiq locked down the yard and the A bombsite with ease. A 12-3 deficit was difficult to come back from and despite getting 3 CT rounds, it was a mountain that the Aussies couldn’t climb as the map ended 16-6 in the CIS side’s favor.

Entropiq looked as comfortable as ever on their pick of ancient. Known for being CT-sided, the Russians made it look like anything but that as they found 10 T side rounds, as only AWPer aliStair could keep up with El1an and Krad’s domination. Once they were on the T side, the boys from Down Under couldn’t get anything done and Entropiq’s experience showed through and through as they took the map with ease, 16-5.

MOVISTAR RIDERS vs MIBR

ANCIENT: MOVISTAR 16-10 MIBR

INFERNO: MOVISTAR 16-8 MIBR

The Movistar and MIBR game on ancient showed just how CT-sided it is. The Spaniards started on the CT side and made minced meat of MIBR. MIBR almost always lost a player on their defaults and were never allowed to take any map control whatsoever with relentless aggression from Movistar. A 13-2 half saw MIBR reeling but they came back with 4 of their own to start their defense.

Movistar needed only 3 and although they couldn’t get a streak of rounds going, their 13-2 cushion meant they didn’t need a dominant T side, and just a par one would do. The map ended 16-10 in Movistar’s favor.

Inferno was chosen by Movistar as their home map and MIBR went toe to toe with them on the CT side, the Brazilian CSGO side led the half throughout but stumbled at the end when the Spanish found 3  consecutive rounds to end the half 8-7 in their favor.

The T side was dismal for MIBR yet again and they could only find a single round as SunPayus and co. put on a stellar defense on the A bombsite. An odd round for MIBR saw the game end 16-8 in Movistar’s favor.

UPCOMING GAMES

MOUZ vs Entropiq – 00:00 IST

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Movistar Riders – 00:00 IST

Entropiq will vie with MOUZ for a spot at IEM Katowice 2022, after MOUZ fell just short vs FaZe Clan. NiP were handed a beating vs CPF and will look to bounce back vs Movistar, even though they are missing their star AWPer dev1ce.

PERFORMANCE UPDATES

GLOBAL INVALIDATION

  • Global Invalidation is a UI feature that improves performance for all UI in the game. It accomplishes this by significantly reducing the number of UI elements that need to update every frame. The Performance team will continue to monitor the impact of Global Invalidation, and we’ll have more details to share about the feature, our process, and the work needed to accomplish this in an upcoming article! —Aaron Cheney, software engineer
  • Global Invalidation provides up to 15% improvement to baseline performance for CPU-bound players
  • CPU-bound players are generally mid-to-high spec machines.
  • These numbers are based on data gathered from PBE over two weekends (Jan. 22–23, and Feb. 5–6).
  • Although we expect a large portion of the player base to benefit from these gains, your machine’s performance may vary.

COSMETIC UPDATES

  • Updates to the color of the tile used to display sprays in your Collections
  • Some sprays were too close to the color of the original tile and were hard to see properly before actually using them in-game.
  • You can now respray after a 5-second cooldown
  • Sprays now have lifetime duration of 15 seconds (reduced from 30 seconds)
  • Sprays still disappear immediately when the barrier drops (mid-round begins) and when the post-round phase begins
  • Same restrictions on mid-round sprays applies (no Agent faces, animations, or airhorns—sorry we’re not sorry)

GAME SYSTEMS UPDATES

  • Added option to return to strongest weapon
  • You can now return to the strongest weapon when pressing the “Equip Last Used Item” key or when auto-equipping a weapon.
  • To toggle ON, go to Settings >> Controls >> Equipment under “Prioritize Strongest Weapon.”
  • This was released in 4.02 but did not make it into the patch notes. My bad!

SOCIAL

  • Fixed a bug where pressing enter in pre-game wouldn’t focus chat
  • Fixed a bug where right clicking a player portrait would not bring up a context menu

PERFORMANCE

  • Fixed a bug where performance stats would be hidden while spectating the Spike

KNOWN ISSUES

ESPORTS FEATURES

  • There is a brief flash when swapping into free-cam mode as an observer follower

Valorant: New Undercity skin line leaked

0

Valorant, Riot’s FPS, has been a resounding success since its release in 2020, thanks to its unique blend of tactical shooting mechanics and ability-based gameplay along with a wide selection of incredible-looking cosmetics that entice the player-base to grind the game out. Dataminers on Twitter have managed to dig up the upcoming Valorant skin bundle ahead of its actual release, and fans are excited to know more about what kind of blend the undercity bundle will offer.

A new skin line dubbed as the ‘Undercity’ will feature unique upgrades including the Melee weapon with up to 2 levels, according to the leaks by popular Valorant data miner ‘Valor Leaks’ on Twitter.

According to the leaks, the Undercity bundle will comprise four weapon skins along with a melee including:

  • udge
  • Bulldog
  • Classic
  • Phantom

The Undercity weapon cosmetic bundle does resemble the popular Glitchpop collection but with a Cyberpunk-themed skyline, the likes of which we witnessed in the recently released Jett music video “Can’t Slow Me Down” which was published on the VALORANT Korea YouTube channel. We can spot a ‘Wanted Poster’ on the Undercity weapons with a familiar face “Victoria Vector” from the Jett Music video takeover as it is currently rumored whether the person from the poster could be the next agent on the list. While the Melee would be the combination of blade and ax-styled knives previously seen in the Tethered Realms and Minima pack.

Valorant Undercity Skins

The estimated price tag of Undercity has been set to 7100 Valorant Points (VP) while every standalone weapon skin would be 1700 VP. The Melee itself would cost you somewhere around 3550 VP which would have 2 levels to unlock.

It is unclear whether the Undercity bundle would replace the current Tigris Collection or be a part of Episode 4 Act 2 which is due in 13 days.

Astralis Secure IEM Katowice 2022 Berth Over BIG

Astralis beat the German side BIG in their upper bracket final of the IEM Katowice 2022 play-ins as they confirmed qualification to the IEM Katowice 2022 Group stage. They join the likes of FaZe Clan and Copenhagen Flames who all booked their seat at the main event on the first day of play-ins.

MAP VETO

  • Astralis removed Vertigo
  • BIG removed Inferno
  • Astralis picked Ancient
  • BIG picked Dust2
  • Astralis removed Mirage
  • BIG removed Nuke
  • Overpass was left over

MAP 1: ANCIENT (ASTRALIS 16-9 BIG)

Astralis picked into Ancient again, still figuring out their map pool after the addition of blameF and k0nfig. Having had T side woes ever since BLAST Premier Fall Finals ended, Astralis looked good for a change on Ancient. Astralis went on a streak of 4 and BIG replied with 5 of their own and things looked dire for the Danes.

k0nfig, who had had a below-par rating since December showed up in buckets and spades as he found 20 kills on the T side alone, going 5-0 in opening duels, trading efficiently, and getting 8 multi-kills across the map to help Astralis to 10 T rounds, ending the half with 6 straight.

The CT side started the same way and Astralis sat at 14-5, looking to annihilate BIG. tabseN’s side did fight back to find 5 continuous rounds but it was too late and Astralis won the map 16-9 with ease.

MAP 2: DUST2 (ASTRALIS  5-16  BIG)

BIG started Dust2 in typical BIG fashion with a brilliant T side. Being the home map for BIG for almost 2 years now, today was no different. BIG started with 7 straight rounds to send Astralis reeling, as k1to recovered his form after a dismal first map. IGL tabseN too kept up with the entry fragger as he found 16 kills of his own to complement kit0’s 18.

After giving up 2 rounds, BIG went on a 4 round run again, including a 2v4 with the aforementioned, to find 11 T side rounds as the half ended 11-4 in their favour.

The CT side was no different for BIG, k1t0 continued his tear and Astralis could only find a single round, that too courtesy of a 1v1 by gla1ve. BIG won their pick 16-5 with ease as we moved to Overpass.

MAP 3: OVERPASS (ASTRALIS 16-13 BIG)

Astralis had a commendable T side yet again as they found 10 rounds on Overpass and BIG found it difficult to get a grasp on the game, only getting an odd round in between.

After the switch, a pistol loss reinvigorated BIG as they went on a streak of 7 T rounds to take a 12-11 lead.

But Astralis would let up only 1 round after that and bounce back with 5 CT rounds to confirm qualification to IEM katowice 2022 Group stages with a 16-13 win.

Copenhagen Flames Qualify for IEM Katowice 2022 Main Event

Danish side Copenhagen Flames secured a berth at IEM Katowice 2022 by defeating Ninjas in Pyjamas in the first upper bracket final of the play-ins. Having won previously versus fnatic, CPF looked good from the start while NiP had a slightly closer matchup with Wisla Krakow. Copenhagen Flames showed their LAN buff once again, starting off with a 12-3 T side on Nuke which had all the pundits look at the Danes in awe. Mirage was much closer than Nuke but at the half, both the maps looked to be complete walkovers.

MAP VETO

  • Copenhagen Flames removed Inferno
  • NIP removed Vertigo
  • Copenhagen Flames picked Nuke
  • NIP picked Mirage
  • Copenhagen Flames removed Dust2
  • NIP removed Ancient
  • Overpass was left over

MAP 1 : NUKE (COPENHAGEN FLAMES 16-3 NINJAS IN PYJAMAS)

Starting on the T side on Nuke, IGL HooXi led from the front to show the world what he was capable of. He had 5 opening kills, from a total of 13 on CPF’s side. Thought to be the toughest T side to call, HooXi made it look all too easy as his side posted 12 T rounds to NiP’s 3 CT rounds. AWPer nicoodoz helped his skipper with 13 kills of his own.

On the CT side, CPF didn’t lose a single round and absolutely battered NiP 16-3.

MAP 2: MIRAGE (COPENHAGEN FLAMES 16-12 NINJAS IN PYJAMAS)

The final scoreline may look close but CPF started Mirage the same as Nuke. On the favored CT side, nicoodoz once again made the map his playground as he had 20 kills with a 2.34 CT side rating. NiPs start was even worse as they got just 2 T rounds and ended the half trailing 2-13. It looked unlikely that they would get the round count to double digits over the course of 2 maps.

On the CT side, NiP took control for the first time in the series. They started with a 5 round streak and followed it up with another 3 after losing one in the middle. But having already given up 13 rounds previously, NiP didn’t have any room for mistakes whatsoever and they did their due diligence. NiP got 10 CT rounds but it was too little too late as CPF won the map 16-12.

With the win, Copenhagen Flames will compete at the main event, IEM Katowice 2022. NiP fall down to the lower bracket and will have one last chance to qualify tomorrow. NiP play the winner of MIBR/Movistar Riders’ matchup.

FaZe Clan Reach IEM Katowice 2022 Main Event

FaZe Clan overran MOUZ in their upper bracket final to make it to IEM Katowice 2022 Group Stages. They won 2-1 in a Bo3 that went the distance but it was karrigan and co. that reigned supreme. MOUZ with stand-in JDC and FaZe with jks were evenly matched until the end but the experience from jks prevailed to send his team through to the main event. It is likely that ropz will return in the group stages of IEM katowice 2022 based on his earlier statement, granted he tests negative.

MAP VETO

  • MOUZ removed Overpass
  • FaZe removed Vertigo
  • MOUZ picked Nuke
  • FaZe picked Inferno
  • MOUZ removed Dust2
  • FaZe removed Ancient
  • Mirage was left over

MAP 1: NUKE (MOUZ 16-7 FaZe Clan)

Carrying on their sizzling form from their first Bo1, MOUZ chose to go with Nuke again. The attack was headed by newly promoted AWPer torszi, surprising on the T side of Nuke but the rookie made it work. He found 17 kills on the T side after a closely contested start, MOUZ took the game by the reins. They found a streak of 6 after being down 4-3 to end the half with 9 T rounds compared to FaZe’s 6. FaZe found it difficult to keep the momentum as they too were playing with a stand-in, jks for ropz.

On the T side, things worsened for FaZe. They only found 1 T round and MOUZ took total control of the map and ended things swiftly 16-7, with IGL dexter going ham towards the end.

MAP 2: INFERNO (MOUZ 10-16 FaZe Clan)

On FaZe’s map pick, it was their turn to show their T side strength, led by karrigan. Twistzz and karrigan found a huge impact on the entries and the story was similar to that of MOUZ on Nuke. MOUZ didn’t have control of the CT side and with a shaky economy, they could only find 6 CT rounds.

After the switch FaZe looked even more comfortable as they posted 4 more and the scoreline read 14-6 in their favor. But inspired shooting from NBK-, who had had a quiet game helped them push through to get things more competitive. But FaZe needed 2 more rounds and once they stabilized the money, it was all over at 16-10.

MAP 3: MIRAGE (MOUZ 16-  FaZe Clan)

On the decider, FaZe started on the T side. Unlike the last two maps, Mirage was a very brawly affair. Both teams gave it their all as they went back and forth. With an eco win in the 13th round, courtesy of a torzsi 3K,  FaZe looked as though they might be trailing by a lot but a karrigan 1v2 at the end saw them end the half with just 1 round difference at 7-8.

The T side from MOUZ started off great with a run of 4 but FaZe bounced right back and it was the stand-in in the form of jks that popped off on the defense. He found mutli-kill after multi-kill to take the score to 14-11 in their favor. MOUZ bounced back yet again and another 1v2 from rookie torzsi as he reached 30 kills put MOUZ at 13 and then to 14.

At the final hurdle MOUZ crumbled as FaZe won the last two to end the game 16-14 and reach IEM Katowice 2022 Main event.
