Valorant Patch Notes 4.09: Chamber Nerfs, Party Lead Transfer, and More

It’s not a good day to be a Chamber main, as the dreaded nerfs to the French Sentinel will finally arrive to the live servers with the 4.09 update.

Alongside this, Valorant patch 4.09 will also bring with it a bunch of additional changes to the shooter. These changes include a quality-of-life ‘Party Lead Transfer’ feature, bug fixes, and much more.

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Valorant patch 4.09.

Valorant 4.09 Update: Chamber Nerfs

It goes without saying that the Chamber nerfs will be the prime focus of this update as they will certainly reduce his overall viability as a Sentinel.

“When we think about the Sentinel role, we think about its overall ability to keep map control and defend space,” the developers said in a statement. “We believe that Sentinels and Sentinel players should have many options and methods to control and defend, whether it’s through the use of Sage’s reactive slow abilities, Cypher’s flank-watching gadgets, or defensively-oriented combat and guns like Chamber.”

As we had reported earlier, patch 4.09 will see Chamber’s ‘Trademark’ count being reduced from 2 to 1, while its price will be increased from 150 to 200. The audio range of his traps will also be increased in the upcoming update.

Fnatic Adds Enzo and Alfajer to Valorant Roster Ahead of EMEA VCT Challengers Two

European esports organization Fnatic is all set for the upcoming EMEA VCT Challengers Two as they finish signing Enzo Mestari and Ali “Alfajer” Beder to their Valorant roster.

Enzo first played for Fnatic when he was brought as a stand-in for Andrey “BraveAF” Gorchakov during VCT Masters Reykjavík. Unfortunately, the org couldn’t make it past the group stages after back-to-back losses against Ninjas in Pyjamas and ZETA DIVISION.

The duo joins the Fnatic roster as replacements for BraveAF and Martin “Magnum” Peňkov. BraveAF was initially suspended from the org after leaked messages surfaced where he supposedly showed support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Alfajer is an exciting player with a huge amount of firepower and pure talent,” Fnatic head coach Jacob ‘Mini’ Harris said in a statement. “We believe he is more than capable to be one of our star players but we will be sure to ease him through that transition as he is such a young player. He has plenty of flexibility in his agent pool which bodes well for long-term success in Fnatic. We want to be able to adapt to the fast-paced meta changes we see in VALORANT and we expect that direction to only continue.”

With these new additions, the Fnatic roster for the upcoming EMEA VCT Challengers Two will contain the following players:

  • Jake “Boaster” Howlett
  • James “Mistic” Orfila
  • Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev
  • Ali “Alfajer” Beder
  • Enzo “Enzo” Mestari

Fans will be able to see this new roster in action when they battle it out against FunPlus Phoenix on Saturday, May 14.

  • Liquid removed Nuke
  • Liquid removed Dust2
  • G2 removed Overpass
  • G2 removed Ancient
  • G2 removed Mirage
  • Liquid removed Vertigo
  • Inferno was left over

Map: Inferno (Winner: G2 Esports, Final Score: 16-6)

The match-up between G2 Esports and Team Liquid saw Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and co make light work of the North Americans on Inferno. Those watching certainly raised an eyebrow upon learning that the North Americans had not banned this map, a gamble that quickly backfired as they found themselves on the back foot early on with major debutant Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov constantly adding up to the woes of Team Liquid. G2 Esports indeed easily cruised towards the lead of 9-0 until it was Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella who bagged the first for his team.

Now on the CT side, Liquid won four rounds of the half to plot a potential comeback but the Kovač brothers were able to keep the former at bay as G2 ran away with Inferno, 16-6.

Renegades Vs forZe Map Veto

  • Renegades removed Overpass
  • Renegades removed Inferno
  • forZe removed Vertigo
  • forZe removed Ancient
  • forZe removed Mirage
  • Renegades removed Dust2
  • Nuke was left over

Map : Nuke (Winner : forZe, Final Score : 16:9)

On the B-stream, the fight between forZe and Oceanic giants Renegades was nearly a carbon copy with forZe dominating the first half on their CT side but on Nuke. Renegades looked destitute and listless although they managed to wield in their spirit to pick up 9 rounds in total before Andrey “Jerry” Mekhryakov and men clinched their first win at the Challengers stage of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022.

Astralis Decimate IHC, Imperial Humbled vs Team Spirit at PGL Antwerp Major Day 1

Astralis started their PGL Antwerp Major campaign on the right foot with an absolute stomp of Mongolian side IHC. They defeated them 16-2 on Nuke without any difficulties to go 1-0 after the first set of games.

Imperial, Brazil’s last dance roster of Fallen, fer and fnx too got humbled as they faced their first EU opposition at the major. Team spirit, despite sporting a newer, younger roster eased past the major winners, 16-6 on Dust2 to also go 1-0.

IHC and Astralis were left to play Nuke after IHC decided to remove Overpass, and it would come back to haunt them. gla1ve’s Astralis were the ones that taught the world of CSGO that Nuke T side can actually be masterminded into something more back in 2018.

IHC were taught a lesson (albeit on the CT side) in that as Astralis started on the defense. After winning the first round the Mongolllians don’t find another one for 12 rounds as Astralis put on a masterclass in defence.

The half ended 13-2 and the danes that were the favorites coming in glided past IHC 16-2 after winning 3 T rounds.

Team Spirit, who grabbed the last spot from the Europe RMR B came into the Major with all guns blazing. Young gun Patsi showed his incredible mechanical skills on the T side as he went 19-9 to help his side to 10 rounds on the T start.

After the switch, AWPer degster laid down the law with his snipers as Imperial could only find 1 T round as the Russians comfortably ended the match 16-6.

Imperial and IHC join Eternal Fire, Renegades, Liquid and Complexity in the 0-1 bracket while Astralis and Spirit advance to the 1-0 matches.

Outsiders, ENCE Record Wins in Opening Games Of PGL Antwerp CSGO Major

ENCE and Outsiders (ex-Virtus.pro) started their PGL Antwerp Major journey on the right note as both the teams won their first games of the day. ENCE were the heavy favourites vs 9z team and it was evident by the scoreline as ENCE even got the map of their choice and went 16-7.

Outsiders cut it really close, as star player YEKINDAR was underwhelming but the others stepped up to win 16-14.

MIBR and Outsiders locked horns on Dust2 and the map was neck and neck throughout, with both teams having hot streaks. The first half ended 8-7 in Outsider’s favour and after the switch to the CT side, they looked set for an easy win  with the score reading 15-9.

Made in Brazill then bounced back, with great fragging from JOTA and got 5 of the last 6 rounds, but the last round proved too much and they fell 16-14.

ENCE on the other hand had it relatively easy, after a closely contested first half which 9z led at one point.

But after the initial flurry, ENCE gained control and ended the CT side leading 9-6, courtesy of Spinx’s massive 22 frags and just 6 deaths. Onto the T side they just lost one roudn and Spinx continued his tear, helped by maden to help his side to a 16-7 win and a 1-0 start at PGL Antwerp Major 2022.

ENCE and Outsiders will be in the 1-0 bracket alongside Team Vitality, Bad News Eagles, G2, Astralis, forZe and Team Spirit.

MIBR and 9z will be in the 0-1 bracket with Eternal Fire, Renegades, IHC, Complexity, Team Liquid and Imperial.

The schedule for round 2 of PGL Antwerp Major 2022 is as follows:
