Valorant Pride Event 2022: How to get Pride cards & Gun Buddy

0

The Pride month celebrations have been set off on a high with Riot Games’ Valorant giving away a set of pride cards along with a brand new pride gun buddy.

A series of Pride cards were made available in the first-person tactical shooter back in June 2021 which featured a series of Pride cards, representing every flag from the LGBTQI+ community. Players were able to redeem the Pride cards by entering unique codes for every Pride flag on the redeem.playvalorant.com website.

This year, things just got way easier to grab this range of wonderful in-game content by Rot as all the Pride cards and the Gun Buddy would be made available on the Valorant store for 0 Valorant Points. All you need to do is login to your Valorant account and open your in-game store. Below are the steps to get the Pride Cards in Valorant:

  • Open Valorant
  • Go to the in-game store
  • Select the pride cards you wish to get
  • You would be able to grab them at the cost of 0 Valorant Points
  • Open ‘Collection’ from the main menu
  • Select your player card on the left-hand side of the screen
  • You may now be able to see your acquired Pride Card from the list below
  • Follow the same steps for your Pride Gun Buddy, you would just need to select the weapon you wish to equip the gun buddy upon.

Valorant’s Pride event runs from June 1 – 20. Once redeemed from the in-game store, they would permanently be added to your account.

EG sign Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts to form Blueprint

The whole idea behind this project would be to bolster the North American Counter Strike scene with up-and-coming players who would now be able to make use of the resources Evil Geniuses would provide.

North American Organization Evil Geniuses have signed the rosters of Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts in a bid to create a 15-man fluid CS:GO roster which would compete right from the Elite Leagues to cash cups and other similar regional tournaments including the famous Fragadelphia and the ESL Challengers.

EG’s current roster featuring Jake “Stewie2k” Yip and company would be their main starting lineup while the players from Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts would now play under the banner of EG, which was further focused upon by director of gaming excellence Danny Engels who said to Dot Esports in an exclusive interview:

The beauty of Counter-Strike is that we have so many different tournaments happening at once. It’s not like the players are just waiting to get the shot in your Pro League and BLAST and Major. There are so many tournaments that we can play at once even to a world where we can have three Evil Geniuses teams playing at the very same time.

We may now be potentially looking at three iterations of Evil Geniuses simultaneously playing across the Globe which indeed puts them in the driver’s seat when it comes to appending the skill-set of every player from EG’s 15-man fluid roster. The structure of Blueprint has derived its power from Evil Genuises’s League of Legends division who currently monitors two academy teams alongside the main roster in order to promote young talent to the latter which they most recently succeeded in after taking home the LCS title in North America.

The Blueprint would also eliminate the massive problem of players getting burnt out from the competition and would pave the way for their in-house talent to feature.

The beauty of this approach is that you can fight tournament fatigue or rather you can focus on the tournaments that you wanna win, ideally, by also selecting the tournaments accordingly. It’s a different approach from the fact that we do not see them as an academy team. We will give the players a chance to shine and, on top of that, you will have a collective of players that can work together in order to become better and better.

The newly-signed players will now be Seattle bound where they would bring this Blueprint idea to life and would get to utilize every piece of infrastructure and resources powered to them by Evil Geniuses. Alongside these 10 players from Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts, their respective staff has also been transferred to the project.

Evil Geniuses now have these following three teams which are:

  • William “RUSH” Wierzba
  • Timothy “autimatic” Ta
  • Jake “Stewie2K” Yip
  • Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte
  • Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov
  • Colby “Walco” Walsh
  • Jerric “wiz” Jiang
  • Jadan “HexT” Postma
  • Connor “chop” Sullivan
  • Anthony “CLASIA” Kearney
  • Jonathan “djay” Dallal
  • Jonathan “Jonji” Carey
  • Ben “ben1337” Smith
  • Josh “PwnAlone” Pigue
  • Wesley “viz” Harris
  • Tommy “Axed” Ryan (Head coach – Carpe Diem)
  • Joseph “Muenster” Lima (Head Coach – Party Astronauts)

Sentinel on VLT’s Performance, Content House, & South Asian Valorant

After winning their opening playoff game here at the Skyesports Champions Series Chennai LAN Playoff, we had a fantastic opportunity to chat with the owner of Velocity Gaming, Manoj Kasyap, aka VLT Sentinel.

As a huge Keanu Reeves and Matrix fan, Manoj sir chose to go with Sentinel as his in-game nick to play professional CS 1.5, 1.6 back in 2006, which has stuck with him till now.

Initially, Sentinel decided to start streaming. Still, it did not fulfill his cravings. With no support or infrastructure for his professional career, he resolved to create an organization where he would provide his team with proper infrastructure and the support staff a Tier 1 organization should have.

He also resumed streaming, playing Valorant, ensuring he’s always in touch with the current meta, understanding the game and how the agents play, how compositions work, and why they work. This is an excellent initiative by an owner to support his team.

With the organization now completing almost two years, Sentinel has major plans for the organization. They hired content creators with a plan to build a content house that didn’t flourish since the team’s location for the future is uncertain.

Sentinel mentioned they also contemplated having an international roster back in the day but decided to go with an Indian lineup instead. They recently added Indonesian Andi Andana “Sleepy” Bangsawan to get international exposure and an outsider’s perspective.

Commenting on the Indian Gaming Scene, Sentinel commented on how now, with cheaper gaming gear, there has been an influx of exceptional Valorant Talent in the country. With Riot displaying active interest in the region, we need to be patient, and we will grow as a region.

You can listen to the full interview here:

Sentinel also talked about the uncertainty of an Esports Career and advised the upcoming talent always to have a backup plan if they fail to make it in Valorant. While also saying an international win from an Indian Organization would shed light on the whole scene and reduce the social stigma, which would take 5-7 years.

Commenting on the Indian Gaming Scene, Sentinel said, “Given enough exposure, We’d definitely perform.”, This implies that Indian teams would do better at playing and adapting to the teams given enough practice and exposure to international competition.

The teams have already started scrimming against strong SEA teams like AlterEgo, FullSense, Action PH, etc., and Velocity Gaming especially does well in the scrims. They also wish to scrim other strong teams like Paper Rex, Bleed, Crazy Racoons, etc., and eventually face them in an official game and hopefully win.

Talking about the foundation of Velocity Gaming, Sentinel mentioned how he treats the team and the content creators as a family, similar to how S8ul is. He also mentioned how he looked upto Goldy Bhai and Thug from S8ul and had a chat with them while setting up Velocity Gaming.

On asked about who he wants to see in the finals, he wishes it’s them vs. Global Esports. While also said that he’d be happy to see any South Asian team winning and making a deep run in Stage 2 VCT APAC challengers.

In the concluding note, he instructed his team to keep on the momentum and how Skyesports fulfilled his dream of seeing his team on the billboard, making him happy. Today, velocity gaming would have to play Full Power Gaming in an elimination game. Skyesports Champions Series has four days of action remaining, with today being the tournament’s third day.

Skyesports Valorant Champions Series Chennai LAN Day 2

0

Day 2 of Skyesports Champions Series Chennai Playoff started with a fantastic brawl between content creators. What followed was arguably the clash of Titans with Enigma Gaming taking on Velocity gaming and the newly formed Orangutan taking on Global Esports. The day saw some unexpected compositions and had the most fantastic day of valorant.

Summary of Chennai LAN day 2:

  • Match 1: Velocity Gaming 0-2 Enigma Gaming
  • Match 2: Orangutan 2-1 Global Esports
  • Match 1: Velocity Gaming 0-2 Enigma Gaming

VLT vs. Enigma was one of the most exciting matches with people waiting to watch since the commencement of the Skyesports Champions series. With Velocity riding high on a win and Enigma being the undefeated team in the group stage.

After yesterday’s win against Revenant, Velocity Gaming again opted to play fracture as their choice, banning Split and Bind. While Enigma, with their picks, chose to play Ascent, banning Haven and Breeze, leaving Icebox as the decider.

The map started with Velocity choosing to continue with the same lineup, while Enigma chose to play Kay/O instead Sage. It never seemed any team had a complete hold on the game, with both teams exchanging one blow after another; both teams seemed to match each other’s tactics and blows. The first half split right in the middle with a 6-6 scoreline.

The second half, though, made it seem like Enigma was in control the whole time with Velocity, although the pistols couldn’t win the following round and managed to get only two rounds losing the game 8-13.

Ascent saw Velocity’s Fade debut with hellff playing Fade; they also picked Reyna as the primary duelist with Omen as the controller and breach as the Flex. Enigma had a more conventional roster with Jett, Killjoy, Omen, Sova, and Kay/O.

The map wasn’t as back and forth as the first one still. The momentum seemed to keep changing sides, with both VLT and enigma winning 2-3 rounds together; the scoreline favored VLT with 7-5.

Now with Enigma Gaming on defense, the antidote popped off. Despite losing 3 out of the first five rounds, Enigma broke down VLT’s attack winning the map and the game in the last round with a score of 13-11 and a clean 2-0.

Velocity Gaming would now face Full Power Gaming tomorrow with elimination on the line. At the same time, Enigma gets a day’s break and would face the winner of the second upper semi-finals.

Match 2: Orangutan vs Global Esports.

Orangutan being the top seed were waiting to play their first LAN match, with Global esports clean sweeping their competitor 2-0 were ready to face the #apearmy. The match was as exciting as it was hyped for.

The map veto had orangutan banning Split and Fracture picking Breeze, while GE banned Icebox and Bind, picking Ascent.

With Global on the first map choosing to play a composition with Reyna, Jett, Cypher, Viper and Sova Whle Orangutan went with the Double initiator Sova, Kay/O, Chamber, Jett and Viper.

Both teams went tooth and nails in the first match, with Orangutan and GE going blow for blow, so much so that after 4-3 in favor of Global Esports, both teams started alternatively winning rounds, eventually closing the half 6-6.

Now Global Esports on attack, despite the strong start GE only manage to win the attack rounds two more times while Orangutan managed to fend off both sites winning the map 13-10.

On Global Esports’ map pick, Orangutan played their usual composition with Sova, Omen, Killjoy, Jett and Kay/O. But Global esports instead of Omen picked Astra with Breach, Chamber, Kay/O and Sova.

Orangutan on defense struggled to hold on to the sites against Global’s strong attack and won only one round despite winning the opening two rounds, losing the half 3-9. On their attack, they managed to win 5 out of the first eight rounds, but it was already late; GE managed to defend the sites and win the map 13-10, forcing a third map

The decider of Haven, saw Orangutan running their usual composition of Killjoy, Sova, Omen, Jett and Breach. Global esports had a similar lineup with Raze instead of Jett and Chamber instead of Killjoy.

On defense, Orangutan started strong, winning 4 rounds out of the starting six, but could not contain Global Esports and lost 5 rounds in a row to close the half 5-7 in deficit. On attack, Orangutan managed to win the three opening rounds but lost three putting Global on 10, after this, Orangutan managed to win 5 out of the remaining 6 rounds to win the map 13-11.

With this Orangutan win the series 2-1, and would head on to face Enigma gaming in the upper finals, with the winner of the match qualifying for the APAC Challengers. ShooteR’s physical absence in Chennai did not hinder the performance of Orangutan as he made it up on server putting up amazing numbers.

Global Esports now faces Revenant Esports in the lower bracket and need to win the game to stay in the tournament. With this, we complete another exciting day of Valorant with both games delivering and both games keeping us on the edge of our seats.

Tomorrow would have higher stakes with all the teams playing with elimination. Both matches would be a chance for revenge for VLT and GE. All the best to the teams playing tomorrow, and I hope they put their best foot forward.

The playoffs for the Champions Series started today in Chennai on LAN. All the teams would want to win the opening games and get the momentum in their favor. The winners of today would face the top seeds of both groups tomorrow. While the losers would wait in the losers bracket to play the day after tomorrow.

Summary of Day 1 of Playoffs.

  • Velocity Gaming 2-0 Revenant eSports
  • Full Power Gaming 0-2 Global Esports

Match 1: Velocity Gaming 2-0 Revenant eSports

The map veto started with Revenant banning Icebox, VLT banning Split while Revenant picked Fracture, VLT picked Breeze, and after banning Haven and Bind respectively, Ascent was left as the decider. The first map of Fracture, had mirrored lineups, with both teams playing Sage, Neon, Brimstone, Breach, and the compulsory pick of Chamber.

Despite a shaky start with VLT unable to contain Revenant’s attack, losing 3 of the first 4 rounds, and despite the disadvantageous position managed to close the half 6-6. In the second half, it seemed that VLT had found the gaps in Revenant’s defense and only lost a single round, winning the map 13-7.

Breeze, saw Velocity running Chamber, Neon, Kay/O, Sova, and Viper while Revenant surprised everyone by picking Cypher and Chamber with Viper Kay/O and Sova. Revenant’s defense line-up was an innovative one, to say the least.

The map started with velocity making a defensive fortress, where they went on to win 6 rounds in a row, Revenant did manage to catch a few players off guard to win rounds but eventually, VLT went on to win the half 8-4

The second half started similar to map 1, despite losing the pistol round,  VLT managed to win the force and eventually closed the map 13-5 winning the game 2-0 The most important part was played by Manoj bhai’s presence who single-handedly carried the team to victory. With this velocity secured their first LAN victory

With the dominant win, VLT made a strong statement and must be fired up.  Revenant still has a chance to make a comeback by fighting in their way out of the lower brackets they put up a great fight and tried something and couldn’t make it work, They’d definitely come back stronger in the lower bracket.

Match 2: Full Power Gaming Global Esports

Full power gaming started the game by banning GE’s strongest map of Ascent, Global Esports banned Icebox, As their first map pick, Full Power Gaming chose to play Haven, and Global Esports chose to play Bind. After banning Fracture and Split respectively. Breeze becomes the decider by default.

On Haven, Both teams played with Chamber, double initiator, and Omen. With GE opting in for Sova and breach while Full Power Gaming played with Skye and breach. As for Duelists GE chose Raze while Full Power Gaming opted for Neon.

On attack, Full power gaming managed to penetrate Global’s defense and won 5 out of the first 6 rounds. Global though managed to contain the bleeding limiting the Full Power Gaming to just 7 rounds closing the half 7-5.

The second half started with teams exchanging the rounds to tie at 9-9, Global though managed to find an answer to Full power gaming’s defense winning 4 rounds in a row to close the game 13-9.

Bind saw both teams playing Breach, Brimstone, Chamber, and Raze, while GE opted for Sova, Full power Gaming chose to play Fade. The first half was somewhat one-sided as Global Esports on attack managed to win 5 out of the 7 first rounds but Full Power showed resistance and manage to close the half 5-7 in deficit.

Full Power now on the attack had a hard time finding their grove and lost 5 rounds in a row to put Global Esports on Map point. Once again, Full Power manage to push forth winning 6 rounds in a row to bring to map to the final round.

In the final round, Global managed to read Full Power well and defended the B site to win the map 13-11 and the game 2-0. SKRossi and LightiningFast were the top performers of the game

With this Global Esports now faces Orangutan tomorrow for the spot in Upper Finals. While Full Power now in the lower bracket would play the loser of the game. Similarly, Velocity would take on Enigma Gaming with the loser playing Revenant in the lower finals.

This concludes day 1 of the Skyesports Champions Series Playoffs. Despite the 2-0’s we saw, both matches delivered as they expected to, and had some hype moments. Just like today, tomorrow would be another exciting day of Valorant for South Asia with the action starting with Show matches at 2 PM and the upper bracket semifinals starting at 5 PM.
