Global Esports Qualifies For Valorant APAC Challengers, Beats Orangutan 2-0

0

The second last day of the Skyesports Champions Series had Upper Finals scheduled between Global Esports and Orangutan. The match-up is a revenge match, as Global Esports had lost to Orangutan earlier in the tournament and were forced to survive the Lower Bracket. At the same time, Orangutan had lost to Engima Gaming yesterday.

The winner of today’s match would be the second and final representative for South Asia in Stage 2 VCT APAC Challengers and Enigma gaming, Also would be in the grand finals with a chance to win the whole event.

The map veto for the clash was as follows.

  • Orangutan Ban Split, thier perma ban.
  • Global eSports Ban Icebox, Orangutan’s strongest map
  • Orangutan chose Ascent, With Global Esports on Defense.
  • Global eSports chose Fracture, With Orangutan on Defense.
  • Orangutan Ban Haven, Global Esports strong map.
  • Global Esports Ban Breeze, Orangutans’ stronghold.
  • Bind remains as the decider.

On Ascent, Global Esports decided to go with a no duelist setup playing with Chamber, Kay/O, Breach, Sova and Astra. Orangutan decided to go with the normal setup, including Jett, Sova, Omen, Killjoy and Breach.

Despite the strong start from Orangutan and on a 0-3 deficit, Global Esports pulled a thrifty and went on to win the half 4-8 on defence. On attack, Global Esports managed to carry the momentum to the next half and won the pistol and the follow-up. Orangutan did try defending. Still, with Global Esports already on ten rounds, Orangutan fell and lost the game 8-13.

Losing their map pick, Orangutan was disadvantaged, and they had to play the opponent’s map pick. Both teams had mirror lineups with Sage, Raze, Chamber, Breach and Brimstone on fracture.

In the first half, though, it seemed that Orangutan had lost all the momentum, and they went on to lose six straight rounds before winning two more. But this didn’t stop Global Esports’ attack, and they attacked stronger to win the half 10-2.

The second half started with Orangutan winning the pistol and the follow-up, but they had difficulty converting this into something big and didn’t come back. And they lost to Global Esports 5-13, losing the series 0-2.

Orangutan might have lost but had an impressive run in the tournament for it being a new lineup.
Global Esports has now been a representative for South Asia for all three times the region had a chance. Global Esports will play Enigma Gaming tomorrow for the Skyesports Champions Series Trophy and an advantage stage in Stage 2 VCT APAC Challengers.

0

The last decade has seen a dramatic breakthrough by esports into the mainstream. Most notably in the last two years with the pandemic situation around the globe. LOL, Counter-Strike, GTA, and other world-famous video games are massive hits in esports betting.

The immense popularity of video games, terrific investments, and abundance of live-streaming opportunities are just some of the many reasons beyond the growing popularity of Esports.

With the emergence of mobile gambling, the global esports games market accelerated even more making it a central form of entertainment for millions worldwide.

Being a massively popular industry, betting on esports is definitely worth experiencing for yourself. Before venturing into esports betting you should get a grasp of the main markets that are on offer.

Esports Betting Markets

Betting markets and odds vary from bookie to bookie. But worry not a jot as here is a walkthrough of some common betting markets available.

These are some of the most popular markets but some sportsbooks go beyond these and offer loads of exciting betting opportunities. Many video games even have their specific markets. If you are interested, you can get more details about Dota 2 betting, LOL betting or other games specific betting guidelines online.

  • Match Winner: In any sport or game the outcome can go either way. And one of the most basic ways to bet is to wager who will win the game. Match winner or Moneyline is a widespread market and those who are into betting will encounter this market quite often.
  • Outright Winner – You simply try to predict which player or team will win the whole tournament. There are several global tournaments flocking millions of fans. For example, the International for Dota 2, League of Legends World Championship, or the Majors provide a good chance to try this betting type.
  • Round/Map Winner – There are first-person shooter, and multiplayer battle royale games like Counter-Strike, Dota 2 or LOL. All of these allow fans to predict which team will win a certain map or the round of a video game.
  • Over/Under – Another betting market that can be familiar to you is Over/Under also known as Totals. Here bookies put forward a set threshold and you need to guess if the overall score of the game will be over/higher or under/lower the set line.
  • Time – This is a unique type of market. If the game has a time limitation this bet can be used to bring more excitement into the competition. So you just guess if the game will pass the usual finishing time or not.
  • Handicap Bet – This is another very popular betting market in any sport. The bookies use this to spice up the game. They give the obvious underdog an advantage by handicapping the favoured team. The favoured team has to beat the handicap odds in order to win. The favoured player will get negative odds, while the handicapped will get positive.
  • First Blood – This is another unique betting market seen in esports. In bloodthirsty games like Call of Duty, punters can wager on who will score the first kill.

Make sure your choice is backed with research and you can budget your betting stake to a limit you are comfortable with.
  • Find a betting site – Finding a legal and safe betting site is the top priority for each gambler. Have a shortlist of trusted bookies. Also, check the sportsbook’s bonus system and insurance policy.
  • Follow the statistics and news – While gut feeling can help you to win, to have stable profit in esports betting you need to be aware of the latest statistics. Follow the teams and their form. Understand the game by watching streams on Twitch or other available platforms. Stay tuned and always remember that knowledge is the key to long-term success.

This is probably the most important strategy in any sports betting. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement especially if you aren’t just a punter but also a passionate fan. To stabilize your bankroll, keep track of your bets and never cross your limits. For the beginning keep your bet amounts low. Use available bonuses offered by bookies.

Now that you have insight into the betting market and necessary strategies, the next step is to find the esports games to follow and bet on. Some of the games you may have heard about others can be not that popular. Presenting you with some of the giants in the global esports industry worth following are:

Fnatic add nicoodoz and roej

fnatic have announced the addition of Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen from Copenhagen Flames to their active CS:GO division and will replace Alex “ALEX” McMeekin & Valentin “poizon” Vasilev who were moved to the inactive roster ahead of 2022’s second half.

After falling out in the 12th-14th place at the PGL Antwerp’s European Regional Major Ranking tournament, fnatic were forced back to the drawing board as the Swedish side decided to re-shuffle their roster in a bid to crawl back on to the top. This indeed led to the removal of ALEX and poizon from the active roster while their stand-in Peppe ‘Peppzor’ Borak joined back Fnatic Rising.

Previously in the awe of the PGL Major Antwerp Qualifiers, Fnatic decided to bench smooya and bring in poizon and Peppzor for replacements before they bid farewell to Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin who now features in Ninjas in Pyjamas’ active lineup. In addition to getting knocked off PGL Antwerp’s RMR A event, Fnatic were unable to qualify for the ongoing IEM Dallas through its closed qualifier, adding up to the woes of the team.

Before hopping on fnatic, nicoodoz and roeJ had steered Copenhagen Flames to their first-ever consecutive majors both organized by PGL, Stockholm in 2021 followed by the recently concluded Antwerp iteration. Despite the team failing to make it to the playoffs at the either, CPH Flames seemed promising, almost closing out games against top tier teams including triumphs over ENCE and Evil Geniuses. Left alone the Majors, the duo have been phenomenal among the teams who competed across the other A to B tier tournaments throughout the year.

Moving forward, I’m excited to announce that I have joined such a legendary organization as Fnatic and I’m eager to get started with my new teammates, and the people behind them! I’m confident this is the perfect place for me as a player to continue developing and achieving my new goals together with Fnatic. I want to be the best and so does Fnatic. I have been given a huge opportunity and I will make sure to work extremely hard to show my gratitude!

Nico ‘nicoodoz’ Tamjid

With these two new signings, fnatic have to now reveal their fifth and final piece to their puzzle. The team will debut with its new players at the Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022 which starts on June 8. With the signings of nicoodoz and roeJ, fnatic are now:

  • Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson
  • William “mezii” Merriman
  • Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi
  • Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen
  • Jamie “keita” Hall (Head Coach)
  • Alex “ALEX” McMeekin (benched)
  • Valentin “poizon” Vasilev (benched)

Natus Vincere add sdy for BLAST Spring Final

Natus Vincere have announced the addition of  Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev to their active CS:GO division after excluding their former In-game leader and Major winner Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov.

The Major winning roster under Natus Vincere had lately been facing difficulties in accordance with Boombl4’s nationality and the fact that the latter had been paying taxes to the Russian federation had indeed triggered “reputational risks for the club”.

sdy joins Natus Vincere on a free loan from the inactive roster of MAD Lions who shut down their CS:GO division back in April and had also been a part of Team Spirit before parting ways after a 3-year stint with the same team. The Ukrainian will represent Na’Vi at the upcoming BLAST Spring Final where his performance at the tournament will determine his fate with the team, and whether he will stick to Na’Vi for their future outings or the other way around.

Previously under Spirit, sdy had steered the latter to their first-ever DreamHack Open January 2021 Championship over FPX Esports and a 3-4th place finish at the IEM XV – World Championship.

Whether Viktor continues to play for NAVI in the future depends on his performance in the upcoming tournament. We would like to thank the MAD Lions management and Prodigy Agency for the opportunity.

The BLAST Premier: Spring Finals starts from June 15 onwards till the 19th where sdy will debut against OG in Na’Vi’s opening match-up.

With sdy, Na’Vi are now:

  • Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev
  • Valerii “b1t” Vakhovskiy
  • Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev
  • Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy
  • Denis “electronic” Sharipov
  • Andrii “B1ad3” Gorodenskyi (Head coach)

Enigma Gaming defeats Orangutan; Qualifies For Valorant APAC Challengers

The first valorant match of day 4 of Skyesports Champions Series was the upper finals between Orangutan and Enigma Gaming, the winner of the match would represent South Asia in the Stage 2 VCT APAC Challengers.
Enigma Gaming has been on a hot streak and hasn’t lost a match yet. On theà other hand, Orangutan, with their young roster, have been looking strong and won their debut LAN match and have had good vibes all along.

The match started with a map veto with Orangutan banning Split, their perma-ban, and enigma Gaming banned Breeze, which was a surprise. Orangutan picked Icebox, their usual map pick, and Enigma Gaming picked Ascent, their comfort pick. The teams then banned each other’s strong maps, with Haven as the decider.

Enigma played the standard no duelist double sentinel-initiator setup with Viper, Sova, Kay/O, Chamber, and Sage, and Orangutan chose to play with Jett, Viper, Sova, Killjoy, and Sage.

The game started with Orangutan on the attack, winning the Pistol round and the follow-up, and on the back of clutches from Excali, Rexy and Rawfiul, Enigma managed to string together rounds, But Tesseract and Vibhor ensured they didn’t run away with the half and fought back eventually tieing the half 6-6

The second half started with Enigma winning the Pistol and follow-up on the attack, and Orangutan fought back. The game went on with clutches after clutches, with Enigma reaching 11 first while Orangutan was still on 9.

Vibhor then won a round using just a Bulldog switching the momentum, which helped them reach 12 first, but Rawfiul managed to hold on to the last round closing the regulation 12-12. In the Overtime, Orangutan managed to maintain their momentum and won the map 14-12.

Ascent saw a mirror line-up from both sides with Sova, Killjoy, Omen, Jett, and Kay/O. The map started with Orangutan winning the Pistol easily but had to rely on Persia’s clutch to win the second round. Enigma began to run away with the half with a better economy, but Tesseract won a Thrifty with his hunter’s fury, which stopped the bleeding, helping Orangutan Win the half 7-5.

On defense, Enigma Gaming set up a strong fortress, and it was hard for Orangutan to break through, allowing Enigma to reach match point while Orangutan was on 8. But Orangutan started finding gaps in Enigma’s defense and won 3 rounds in a row to push the map to the final round. But Enigma Gaming managed to hold off the attack from Orangutan to win the game 13-11, forcing the third map.

Both teams chose to run a double initiator setup on the decider haven, with Jett, Skye, Fade, Killjoy, and Omen for Enigma Gaming and Jett, Breach, Sova, Killjoy, and Omen.
With Enigma on the attack, despite a 0-2 deficit, they managed to dominate Orangutan’s defense and win 8 out of the remaining ten rounds to win the half 8-4.
Now on defense Enigma managed to suppress Orangutan’s attack and didn’t let them string together rounds, eventually winning the map 13-7 and the series 2-1.
With this victory, Enigma Gaming becomes the first South Asia representative in the Stage 2 APAC Challengers and heads to the Skyesports Champions Series Chennai LAN finals. Orangutan would face the victors of Global Esports vs. Velocity Gaming in the lower bracket finals.

Luminosity Gaming exit Valorant

0

Toronto based Luminosity Gaming have dropped their Valorant roster as they actively look for a new home for Will “dazzLe” Loafman and company, the announcement was made earlier today on the team’s Twitter handle although they are allowed to play under the banner of LG throughout the ongoing VCT 2022: North America Stage 2 Challengers event where they are yet to face Cloud9 and OpTic Gaming in their remaining matches. They currently sit with 2 wins and just 1 loss on the table and are deemed as the heavy favorites to qualify for the playoffs.

The major setback behind the exit of Luminosity from the said esport is their parent company Enthusiast Gaming who are placed under scrutiny, forcing the former to unexpectedly drop their roster. The company’s declining fortunes had their stakeholders Greywood investments call the largest investor public campaign which had their CEO and other board members removed from the panel.

During their time in the Competitive circuit, Luminosity went on to win the NSG: Winter Championship where they outed Sentinels 3-2 in the Grand Finals followed by 3x third-place finishes across the Challengers Stages of VCT 2021: North America 1 & 3.

LG Valorant player Adam “mada” Pampuch expressed the team’s desire to hold tight to their roster along with all of their staff as doing so would prove vital for the team’s long-term success.

Luminosity will play Cloud9 and OpTic Gaming on June 5 and 13 respectively in the ongoing VCT 2022: Stage 2 Challengers North America.

Hades on Orangutan’s Valorant Lineup, Player Transfers, and More

Orangutan has been in great shape recently and won their first Valorant match at the Skyesports Champions Series Chennai LAN Playoffs, and they are one win away from qualifying for stage 2 VCT APAC Challengers. Yesterday we had an opportunity to interview Vinay Rao, aka Hades, The head of esports operations for Orangutan.

Hades expressed joy about his newly made roster finding success even though the roster is new and international. He made the roster primarily to dethrone Velocity Gaming and Global Esports. For this, he decided to go international and find talent across Asian countries so that they could be the best in South Asia.

Hades said about Vibhor, “Vibhor was the last diamond to the crown”, implying that vibhor’s acquisition was a big deal for Orangutan. They always wanted to have vibhor on board, calling the team “a dream lineup” for him.

Hades also explained the Visa issues of shooteR, where the restrictions are limiting his presence, and it is expected he would be able to visit the Bootcamp in the next 4-6 weeks.

You can listen to the full interview here:

Upon being asked about the lineup’s success, Hades commented on how the results were somewhat unexpected for them. Still, the loss against velocity gaming helped them understand the gaps in their game upon which they improved, and the victories were fruits of hardwork by the team and support staff.

Hades elaborated on how he wishes to be the best in APAC with the Game Changers lineup, arguably the best Game Changers team from South Asia. He said they are trying new things and players and wish to grow as a team, understand their limitations, and eventually win against NA and EMEA game changers teams.

Orangutan is supposed to launch a Bootcamp soon, and it’s been in the works for a while. Hades, the whole support staff, and the players are excited about the launch.

Hades expressed his gratitude towards the fans for showering the lineup with love and how having an international lineup has helped them conquer fans’ hearts across the continent. The players are the reason Orangutan is such a massive name in South Asia.

Hades concluded the interview by thanking the tournament organisers and the media personnel who have helped showcase young and new talent and the Orangutan fans. They have brought them where they are.

Orangutan would face Enigma Gaming today for a spot in Stage 2 VCT APAC Challengers. They have already solidified themselves as a strong team, and winning today would mean they’d be one of the two representatives of South Asia in APAC. We wish them luck in all their future endeavours.
