Tamil Nadu MLA TRB Rajaa ensures that TN will become No. 1 destination for Esports

Dr. T. R. B. Rajaa, member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, recently attended the grand finals of Skyesports Champion Series in Chennai. The MLA witnessed Global Esports and Team Enigma in action and even congratulated GE for winning the SCS title.

Skyesports Champion Series was the pinnacle of South Asian Valorant Esports and its third phase was hosted in Chennai in LAN format. Dr. T. R. B. Rajaa was invited to this finals and he praised the event management for hosting a tournament “on par with international standards.”

Indian esports is on the verge of being recognized by the Government of India as efforts are being taken to make it official. Recently, a new task force called AVCG was formed and announced on 2022-23 Annual Budget Summit by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Being a Chennaite myself, it was an honour to have Dr. T R B Rajaa attend the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS) LAN in Chennai. We are working to growing Esports from the grassroots level and having the support of the government is empowering to do this even further.

Shiva Nandy, CEO and Founder, Skyesports

AVCG commission stands for animation, visual effects, comic, and gaming and is tasked to oversee the growth of these industries in India to gradually implement measures to increase domestic production that will sever at a national as well as in an international scale. Growth in this scale will translate to employment and economic growth while passive assisting other industries to thrive.

In one of his tweets, Dr. Rajaa mentioned that Tamil Nadu Planning Commission under the Chief Minister office of Tamil Nadu will ensure that Tamil Nadu will become the number one destination for AVCG infrastructure.

The approval and encouragement of Tamil Nadu MLA to the esports industry and Skyesports is certainly a big achievement and would lead to a successful future of gaming and esports in India.

Cloud9 defeat ENCE to win IEM Dallas 2022

North American Organization Cloud9 have lifted the IEM Dallas Silverware over ENCE in a 3 map succession and bagged their first championship in the span of four years since they last lifted the ELEAGUE Major trophy in Boston.

Backed by their North American fans at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, it was the first time for Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov and company who played in front of a crowd, whom they called their “home crowd” after having recently been acquired by Cloud9 from Gambit Esports.

Their playoff run started surprisingly well after they sent FaZe Clan and BIG packing in the Quarter and Semifinals respectively with a roaring support from the crowd in Dallas. In attendance was Mr Jack Etienne, CEO and Co-Founder of Cloud9 who lifted the trophy alongside his new-look CS:GO roster and with a stint of mixed feelings, the moment everyone had been waiting for after a series of unsuccessful rosters and tryouts who were unable to culminate their chances into success ever since Tarik “tarik” Celik and his men won the first ever major for North America in 2018.

Today in Dallas, history has once again been written but by a majority-CIS side in the Cloud9 colors who battled out through their Lower Bracket run, surpassing the Ninjas and Pyjamas and toppling Team Liquid twice in the tournament only to win against the current major title holders FaZe Clan and BIG on the main stage to set up their Grand Finals clash with ENCE.

Before we speak about the Grand Finals, ENCE had been phenomenal with Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski who filled in for Lotan “Spinx” Giladi and despite of the said roster change, they made it this far in the event with a series of sensational wins over G2 Esports, FaZe Clan and FURIA.

The IEM Dallas 2022 Grand Final clash between Cloud9 and ENCE was more of a one-sided affair with the home team wreaking havoc on Overpass and Ancient thanks to Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov and Timofey “interz” Yakushin who put up a valiant effort to thwart every plan been brewed under the ENCE camp. A plethora of offensive but staggering plays from Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov on Ancient had forced ENCE to play in a haphazard manner which never let them go past 3 rounds on the board, giving Cloud9 their first championship of 2022 and after a long-awaited period which the Organization and its fans had been rooting for.

Honestly, I probably don’t understand it yet. I have a lot of different emotions and we just really needed this win and I am happy that we did it. I mean, I am really at home and a lot of people did support us and it does mean a lot to us.

WinZO takes MPL to court following copyright infringement allegations

0

WinZo, a competitive gaming platform has taken its industry colleague MPL to the courtroom. The allegation of WinZO is the copyright infringement by MPL on one of their titles ‘World War.’ Over the last 5 years, WinZo has innovated formats for social multiple experiences. One such team format proprietary to WinZo was named “World War”.

Commencing in April 2020, the game currently has close to 80 million registered users. The company has applied for a patent for the invention, copyright registration in relation to the expression of the Format, and trademark for ‘World War’.

Around the last week of March 2022, WinZo discovered that MPL has copied the identical format with the identical name, World War.

When this was brought to their notice, MPL, on 28th March, took down the Format completely from their platform. However, in a complete volte-face, MPL re-commenced using the entire identical format with each of the distinctive features in use by WinZo, by 2nd April. This time, while they renamed their tournament as ‘Team Clash’, but the notifications/pop-ups sent to users still used ‘World War’.

WinZo sent a legal notice to MPL and when MPL refused to cease and desist from taking down the Format, WinZo was forced to file a suit seeking injunction to restrain MPL from continuing to use the Format on account of copyright infringement, passing off and unfair competition.

The matter was listed on 3.6.2022, before the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Naveen Chawla of the Delhi High Court.

After the matter was heard at some length, MPL’s counsel stated that the MPL has stopped using the mark “World War” and was willing to give an undertaking that the mark “World War” shall not be used with the Defendant’s game/ offering. Concerning the other allegations made by WinZo, MPL’s Counsel made a statement that MPL shall attempt to resolve the matter through negotiations with WinZo.

The matter is now listed for further proceedings on the 4th of July 2022.

WinZo was represented by Mr. Amit Sibal, Senior Advocate who was briefed by TMT Law Practice team comprising Abhishek Malhotra, Managing Partner and Atmaja Tripathy, Senior Associate.

MPL was represented by Rajshekhar Rao, Sr. Advocate instructed by Mansi Sood.

Most Popular Esports Games 2022

Every year, video games gain in popularity, and an increasing number of gamers enter virtual worlds. The video gaming sector currently outperforms the film and music industries in terms of revenue. However, for many people, gaming is no longer merely a pastime.

Professional gamers are making their way into professional eSports as Individual competitors or as top professional teams that are watched all over the world, who often compete against one another for large sums of money as the Thai BettingNews88 blog post mentions.  But, out of all of these games, which one is the most popular? You’re about to find out today.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

With more than 10,000 professional players worldwide, here’s CSGO. Two teams of five players battle as Terrorists and Counter-terrorists in the classic game mode of the tactical first-person shooter.

Unlike many other shooters, if a player is killed in action, they will not be able to rejoin the game right away. Those eliminated can only help their side in the competition’s next game round. The teams are assigned various missions in two separate game scenarios:

Bomb Defusal

The terrorist squad attempts to install a device in one of the preset zones and protect it until the timer goes off. On the other hand, the counter-terrorists mission is to eliminate the terrorist squad before they can plant their bomb or defuse the explosive before it explodes.

Hostage Rescue

On the terrorists’ side, there are multiple immobile hostages, and the counter-terrorist squad must rescue at least one of them and transport it to the hostage rescue zone. Players carrying a hostage are forced to move more slowly.

Terrorists can bring a hostage back to its original location if a counter-terrorist is eliminated during the rescue effort. Victory is also achievable if the other squad is eliminated.

League of Legends

League of Legends is developed by Riot Games. Two teams battle against each other on a standard MOBA map in the real-time strategy game with around 180 million players worldwide.

Each team is made up of five champions from a pool of over 150, each of which plays one of the five positions available:

  • Top-lane
  • mid-lane
  • ADC (Attack Damage Carry or “Ranger”)
  • Support
  • Jungler

Fortnite

The initial excitement around the Battle Royale shooter “Fortnite” has yet to fade. This eSports game has a basic gaming principle: 100 people battle against each other in a large area. The winner is the last person standing.

Unlike other Battle Royale games, though, Fortnite emphasizes gathering resources and constructing facilities. These can be used to obtain a tactical edge over other players or offer cover. It’s also good to know that Fortnite has over 350 million players.

Dota 2

“DOTA” stands for “Defense Of The Ancients” and is the predecessor of its older counterpart with improved graphics. It’s similar to League of Legends because they are both MOBA games. Dota 2 is a visually pleasing game with a more tactical, less mechanically driven gameplay.

The game is just as varied as its predecessor, with over 110 distinct heroes and five different player roles. Dota 2 has become the most popular eSports game among the sport’s most successful players in recent years.

Global Esports Wins Skyesports Champions Series Valorant (SCS) Chennai Lan

Global Esports defeated Enigma Gaming 3-2 to become the winners of Skyesports Champions Series and would represent South Asia as the top seed of South Asia. Enigma Gaming has to pave their way through play-ins, while Global Esports, as the top seed, would skip the first stage.

The match went as follows:

  • Enigma Gaming 14-12 Global Esports (Ascent)
  • Enigma Gaming 6-13 Global Esports (Split)
  • Enigma Gaming 13-11 Global Esports (Haven)
  • Enigma Gaming 8-13 Global Esports (Fracture)
  • Enigma Gaming 9-13 Global Esports(Bind)

Enigma had the most amazing run in the tournament, and qualified the playoffs as the top seed from Group A. In the playoffs they defeated Velocity gaming in the first round and defeated Orangutan to qualify for the Stage 2 VCT APAC challengers and reach the finals of Skyesports Champions Series.

Global esports on the other hand had a shaky run, with Losing to Revenant and Enigma Gaming in the group stage, they qualified for the playoffs as the second seed from Group A. Global eSports then defeated full power gaming but lost to Orangutan to reach the lower bracket.

In the lower bracket they had to beat their eternal rivals in velocity gaming to reach Lower bracket finals, where they took revenge from Orangutan to qualify for stage 2 VCT APAC challengers and the finals of Skyesports Champions Series.

Match summary:

The map veto for the finals went as follows.

  • Enigma Gaming Ban Breeze, their weakest map
  • Global Esports Ban Icebox, Enigma’s strong map
  • Enigma Gaming picks Ascent with Global Esports on defense.
  • Global eSports picks Split with Enigma Gaming on defense.
  • Enigma Gaming picks Haven, with Global eSports on
  • Global eSports picks Fracture, with Enigma Gaming on
  • Bind would be the decider.

Map 1 Ascent, Enigma’s pick:
Enigma Gaming chose to play Chamber, Omen, Raze, Sage, and Sova, while Global Esports chose to play Astra, Breach, Chamber, Kay/O, and Sova. The map started with Global Esports on defence, created a stronghold, And Enigma had difficulty getting on sites and only won four rounds.
On Global Esports attack, they managed to win four out of five rounds, putting them on the match point. But Enigma Gaming was resilient and came back to win nine rounds in a row to win the game 14-12.

Map 2 Split, Global Esports’ pick:
Enigma played a double duelist setup, something unheard of in recent days, playing Jett and Raze with Cypher, Omen and Sage. Global esports stuck with their default Breach, Chamber, and Fade. It turned out to be one-sided, with Global Esports crushing Enigma’s defence to win the half 9-3.
Keeping the momentum, Global Esports, and despite losing the starting two rounds, managed to stop the bleeding and won the map 13-6
Global Esports
Map 3 Haven Enigma’s pick:
Enigma Gaming picked Fade, Jett, Killjoy, Omen and Skye and opted not to play Chamber, while Global Esports decided to play Breach, Chamber, Omen, Raze and Sova. Starting well for both teams, Haven was a competitive map, to say the least, with rounds going back and forth and both teams winning strings of rounds before closing the half 6-6.
In the second half, after being 6-9 down, Enigma consistently held on to the sites to win six rounds in a row to make the scoreline 12-9 in their favour. Despite Global’s attempts at coming back, Enigma Gaming managed to close the game 13-11

Map 4 Fracture Global Esports’ pick:
Both played Chamber, Brimstone, and Breach, but Global Esports played Sage and Raze, and Enigma Gaming chose Kay/O and Neon. Being Global’s map pick, Fracture tilted toward Global Esports’ side, with them winning eight rounds on the attack, winning the half 8-4.

They held off Enigma for the first two rounds in their defence but lost the next four to facilitate a comeback. Thanks to a thrifty clutch for SkRossi, the momentum shifted, and Global Esports managed to push the game to the last map.

Map 5 Bind, The decider:
The only similarity between both compositions was Breach and Brimstone. Enigma Gaming chose Cypher as the sentinel, while GES decided on Chamber. Enigma played with Fade while GES played Sova as duelist GES played Raze while Enigma Gaming played Jett. With this being decider and picked by both the teams, The started teams exchanged rounds after rounds.

The first half concluded with GES winning one round over Enigma, closing the half 7-5.
Enigma lost the first two rounds, equalising the scoreboard at 7-7. Global esports then managed to hold off Enigma’s attack, only letting two more rounds slip off to win the game, 13-9, winning the game and the Skyesports Champions Series Chennai LAN 3-2.

Global esports is now a three-time representative of South Asia/India Valorant in APAC, a feat not achieved by any other team in the region. Enigma Gaming also qualifies for the Stage 2 VCT APAC challengers as the second seed from India and would play the play-in stage starting from June 9.

Fortnite releases Chapter 3 Season 3 cinematic trailer

0

Epic Games has officially introduced the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3: Vibin’. The new season seems quite fascinating as the new battle pass features Darth Vader and Indiana Jones. Apart from that, there are boars and wolves that you can ride, and a lot of other new in-game stuff.

After the Season 2 Collision event, Vibin’ introduced One Giant Party, an island with a new map. Let’s take a look at the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 cinematic trailer:

Reality Falls, a new area, is a gorgeous forest of mushrooms, bouncing mushrooms, and purple trees. The Reality Tree has bloomed on the Island, resulting in the formation of a new biome! You can swim beneath its cascades, hunt loot in its caves, and spring from its plumes while not exploring its flora. You will also be able to observe the effects of the Reality Tree on various sections of the Island throughout the Season.

The new Reality Tree is releasing Reality Seed Pods. Plant a Reality Seed to develop a Reality Sapling that blooms in the same spot every time! Saplings gain better treasure with each weeding, so keep weeding a sapling until it drops Mythic loot. If you pick up a Reality Seed while already planting a sapling, throw it to teleport the seedling to where it lands. Plant the seed that your sapling leaves behind when it wilts.

A new age for the Island heralds the arrival of a new sort of weapon. The new scoped rifle’s range is between that of an Assault Rifle and that of a Sniper Rifle. You should master the DMR to reap significant rewards in battle.

Furthermore, if you stay in the Storm for an extended period of time in a match, you will suffer Storm Sickness, an ailment that increases the Storm’s depletion of your Health. Storm Sickness never comes as a surprise, and you’ll be warned if you’re on the verge of getting it. Fortunately, the only remedy for Storm Sickness is to leave the Storm. However, if you re-enter it, it will immediately affect you again.

The new Snap outfit can be found on the first page of the Battle Pass, and once unlocked, it unlocks Snap Quests as well. Throughout the Season, these Quests become available. When you finish one, you’ll get a new Snap component.

Valorant: Team Liquid bench L1NK, sign Dreamas

0

Team Liquid have announced the benching of Travis ‘L1NK’ Mendoza from their active Valorant division and have further decided to replace the 23-year-old Brit with Aurimas “Dreamas” Zablockis. The announcement comes halfway through the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Challengers where Liquid currently sit on the second position of the table with 3 wins and a loss after their debut win with Dreamas over Natus Vincere.

No concrete reasoning have been released by either of the sides behind this change but Team Liquid have lately been looking for some fresh air as it was just a month ago when they had parted ways with their head coach Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield followed by the removal of L1NK from their roster.

L1NK was one among the original heads on Team Liquid’s Valorant roster along with Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom and Dom “soulcas” Sulcas and were later acquired from fish123 in August 2020. Under L1NK, Liquid managed to qualify for the VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters – Reykjavík where they finished in the 4th place followed by a championship over Acend at the Red Bull Home Ground #2. The team overall had a fair showing with L1NK on the board but their thirst for a daunting turnaround indeed sparked this move which saw Dreamas formerly of LDN UTD sign up for Liquid and their journey towards the VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters.

Team Liquid have successfully booked their ticket to the Playoffs of the VCT 2022 : Stage 2 Challengers under Dreamas and will play their final match of Group B against M3C on June 10.

Team Liquid are now:

  • Dom “soulcas” Sulcas
  • Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom
  • Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen
  • Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom
  • Aurimas “Dreamas” Zablockis
