Fnatic add f0rest as stand-in for Pinnacle Cup Championship

fnatic have added Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg to their active CS:GO roster as a stand-in for their upcoming matches at the Pinnacle Cup Championship which is to start in a day as they lock horns with Casper “cadiaN” Møller and army in their opener.

The addition of f0rest was earlier hinted by Patrik “cArn” Sättermon as fnatic who were practicing with their fifth player. Yet unknown fell sick at their bootcamp and was ruled out of further play.

f0rest is no stranger to fnatic as the Swede had played under the banner of the former during his CS 1.6 days before signing up for the Ninjas in Pyjamas squad with whom he won the ESL One: Cologne 2014 Major followed a runner-up finish at the Katowice 15 iteration by the same organizer.

The start of 2020 saw f0rest move to Dignitas ending his 8-year stint with NiP but the transfer indeed met a short fate which saw the North America – Swedish drop their roster ahead of a potential restructure.

fnatic recently revamped their roster with two new players, Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen formerly of Copenhagen Flames, and were yet to announce their fifth and final piece to their puzzle before they were forced to use a stand-in ahead of their clash with Heroic on June 8.

Fnatic CSGO Now Has:

  • Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson
  • William “mezii” Merriman
  • Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi
  • Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen
  • Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg (Stand-in)
  • Jamie “keita” Hall (Head Coach)
  • Alex “ALEX” McMeekin (benched)
  • Valentin “poizon” Vasilev (benched)

Some Valorant players cannot differentiate the game from CSGO: T1 steel

0

Ever since the launch of Valorant in 2020, it has undoubtedly sparked the best-ever rivalry between itself and Valve’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive. With a plethora of CSGO professionals having already made their switch to Valorant, the scene of Counter Strike in every region across the globe has definitely seemed to recede.

All of the above does sound absurd but change is the only constant, they say. Counter Strike players often complain about Valorant not being friendly enough to take on any site and is a copy of Overwatch which heavily banks on your skill set. This was indeed addressed by Joshua “steel” Nissan from T1 who stated that some Valorant players haven’t been able to differentiate the game from CS:GO.

The year 2020 saw as many CSGO pros who called quits on their CS careers in a bid to compete at Riot’s brand new first-person shooter alongside their fellow teammates, some of them eventually from their previous rosters followed by the rest i.e. the young aces. If we go on to name them, the list might come out to be a big one but it won’t hurt to mention some, Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas, Spencer “Hiko” Martin, and Braxton “Swag” Pierce. These three were among the potential prospects in CSGO who always tried to scale the pinnacle of the scene but the allure of revitalizing their careers made them inculcate a change within their careers.

In a most recent interview with Duncan “Thorin” Shields and Geo “Geometric” Collins, Steel did state some facts where Valorant players who transitioned from Counter Strike are yet to differentiate the game from Riot’s first-person tactical shooter.

A lot of CS players couldn’t figure out that it’s a new game and you can’t play it exactly the same. We’re now getting to the point where everyone that’s been playing Valorant since beta is probably going to have a leg up on players who want to transition now from CS.

The major takeaway from the interview was the constantly shifting meta in Valorant as compared to in Counter Strike. In the latter, we saw the AUG meta which lasted only till the IEM Katowice 2019 but was later patched up by the developers in a bid to balance out the irregularities.

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is to be revealed today before the launch of Update 1.0

0

Battlefield 2042’s first major update is set to release today later with the game’s first season update going live later in the week.

Update 1.0 includes hundreds of changes, bug fixes, and Quality of Life improvements which DICE claims are all in preparation for the game’s first Season update launching later this week. DICE provided a highlight of what to expect from the update which we have included below-

  • Multiple improvements to soldier gameplay which will result in overall smoother animations and movement.
  • Weapons received updated netcode to improve bullet hit registration. We’ve also done a further balance pass which includes increased projectile speeds for DMR’s and LMG’s, and improved accuracy for Shotguns.
  • Multiple new XP events have been added, such as for killing an enemy who recently wounded or killed a squadmate, or when an enemy vehicle you recently damaged is destroyed by a teammate and the occupants are killed
  • The number of available in-world vehicles has been increased for Conquest which should make it easier to move across the map
  • Sundance’s Wingsuit has been adjusted to lower overall flight time while making it easier to maneuver. To simplify their Specialty, the EMP Field Smart Explosive has been removed

While the highlight is light on details, a full-fledged detailed breakdown is available here.

Aside from some much-needed fixes, Update 1.0 isn’t something major considering basic features like a scoreboard, server browser, etc still missing from the game. The update also nerfs various things in the game which already feel barren and limits the number of air attack vehicles to just 1 per team.

DICE sold Battlefield 2042 with advertisements featuring 128 player game modes and the biggest maps in Battlefield history, but now with only 1 air attack vehicle limit per team, each player will now have to compete against 63 other players to get a chance to fly planes. Whereas older titles like Battlefield 4 with upto 64 players in a game mode limited 4 air vehicles per team.

Leaving Update 1.0, the Season 1 update which is supposed to come later this week is rumored to be super light on content. As per a tweet by Tom Henderson(@_Tom_Henderson_) the Season 1 update will only feature 1 map, 2 weapons, 2 helicopters, and 1 specialist.

For a game that’s been in the works for 2 years before its release in Nov’21 and almost 8 months since its launch (including beta) the amount of content in the Season 1 update is a joke and disregards fans who believed in DICE and continued to support BF2042 throughout its rough launch period.

The first four weeks of the Challengers group stages have already passed, and only one week remains before the teams can advance to the playoffs for the event.
