Fnatic bench ALEX and poizon, to undergo roster overhaul

The Swedish Organization is yet to enter yet another roster overhaul since they went  international in August 2021.

Fnatic on their Twitter handle have announced the benching of their IGL Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and AWPer Valentin “poizon” Vasilev from their active CS:GO division while Peppe ‘Peppzor’ Borak who was promoted from their Rising squad will join back the same.

After falling out in the 12th-14th place at the PGL Antwerp’s European Regional Major Ranking tournament, Fnatic have been forced back to the drawing board as the Swedish side have now decided to e-shuffle their roster in a bid to crawl back on to the top.

ALEX and William “mezii” Merriman were the first duo to have featured in Fnatic’s new international look replacing Maikil “Golden” Selim  and Jesper “JW” Wecksell back in August’21. Soon it was Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson who was shown the door, paving the way for Owen “smooya” Butterfield with whom the Brit-Swedish lineup were able to take home the DreamHack Open November 2021 championship home.

But in the awe of the PGL Major Antwerp Qualifiers, Fnatic decided to bench smooya and bring in Valentin “poizon” Vasilev and Peppe ‘Peppzor’ Borak for replacements before they bid farewell to Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin who now features in Ninjas in Pyjamas’ active lineup. In addition to getting knocked off PGL Antwerp’s RMR A event, Fnatic were unable to qualify for the forthcoming IEM Dallas through its qualifier, adding up to the woes of the team.

With ALEX, poizon moving on to the bench and Banjo back to the Rising division, Fnatic are down to two players, mezii and William “mezii” Merriman who now await for the rest of the squad to be rebuilt.

Fnatic would need to make their roster moves happen before they compete at the Pinnacle Cup Championship to be played in Lund, Sweden from June 8-11.

Fnatic CS:GO are now:

  • Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson
  • William “mezii” Merriman
  • Alex “ALEX” McMeekin (inactive)
  • Valentin “poizon” Vasilev (inactive)
  • Peppe ‘Peppzor’ Borak (joins back Fnatic Rising)
