Vitality Demolish MongolZ to Reach IEM Melbourne 2025 Finals

MongolZ found themselves outmatched as a clean 2-0 from a feisty Vitality side sent them packing to reach the IEM Melbourne Semi-Finals. Waiting for them is an up-and-coming Falcons side that has rejuvenated with the addition of m0NESY.

Having been mauled for the entirety of the first half, MongolZ only got away with a single round in the first half of their own map pick. Not only were Vitality far superior on the defence, but MongolZ did not look like they belonged in the same league. Switching to the defence with an 11-1 scoreline, the comeback dream was too far-fetched for MongolZ. Despite winning the pistol round, Vitality once again got back to dominating the Asian side, leading them to win the map 13-3.

A perfect replica of Mirage on Nuke, Vitality gave the MongolZ no chance to get going at all. The MongolZ defence had no idea for the entirety of the first half how Vitality systematically picked them apart piece by piece. Winning two rounds in the first half, MongolZ managed one round more than they got in Mirage. They did manage to win the pistol, but the following round was converted by Vitality, to take charge of the game immediately. Winning all of the remaining rounds, Vitality cruised past MongolZ to win the map 13-3.

MongolZ, having taken down the biggest names in the world, got completely outmatched by Vitality. This goes to show how far ahead Team Vitality is since the addition of ropz. The only team with the chance of going toe-to-toe with Vitality will be waiting for them in the Grand Finals, but despite Falcons’ recent performances, the scales heavily side towards Vitality.

Winning the pistol and following round, MOUZ cut the lead to half, but Falcons got back on the board with the first gun round. Winning all of the remaining rounds, the Falcons won the series 13-6, once again boasting their domination over the world number 2.

Despite having won a tournament earlier this year, MOUZ’s stage woes continue. While on paper they challenge the likes of Vitality and Spirit, a lack of recent results has sent the roster back to the drawing board as the Austin Major creeps closer.

When Can a Team Forfeit?

Valorant only permits teams to call a forfeit after Round 6 has begun. That is, the soonest you can forfeit is in Round 6, not earlier. This is meant to prompt at least some effort before teams even think about surrendering.

Teams are also restricted to one attempt at surrendering per half. Therefore, in the first half, only one forfeit vote is permitted. Another vote is available in the second half.

How to Forfeit in Valorant?

Here’s a quick breakdown of how you can start a surrender vote:

  1. Open the Team Chat
    • Press the Enter key to open the chat box for your team.
  2. Enter the Command
    • You can type any of the following in the chat:
      • /ff
      • /surrender
      • /forfeit
  3. Vote Prompt Appears
    • Once the command is entered, your team will receive a vote prompt.
  4. Cast Your Vote
    • Press F5 to agree to the surrender
    • Press F6 to decline the vote

For the surrender to be successful, all five team members must vote yes. Even one refusal or no response will result in the forfeit being denied. Always remember that forfeiting a Valorant match will reduce your MMR, same as if you lose a match normally.

Starting their T side with a 9-3 deficit, the Falcons steamrolled past the Swedes in time, winning 4 rounds without losing a single one. Winning the map 13-3, TeSeS and NiKo found themselves tied with 18 kills and 1.84 IR to their names as the best players for Falcons.

Starting their defense with a pistol round loss, the Falcons hit the board with the first gun round. The first gun round saw Falcons go on a winning spree for a few rounds, as GL managed only one round in between. Similar to Train, Falcons switched sides with a 9-3 lead. Losing the pistol again, Falcons hit them back with a force buy and proceeded to the finish line flawlessly. Having dropped the ball on the first map, m0NESY delivered a star-player worthy performance to win the map 13-4 with 17 kills to his name.

Coming off a stunning victory in Bucharest, the Falcons have now set up a match against MOUZ for a spot in the Grand Finals of IEM Melbourne. While many big names were missing from Bucharest, which put a lot of question marks on their victory, a win here would put their names right up there with the title contenders.
