FIFA 22 Update 14 Patch Notes: Significant but too delayed

0

EA Sports has introduced the most anticipated FIFA 22 Update 14 for PC users on Steam and Origin. The update will eventually be rolled out on Xbox and PlayStation soon. This update includes both nerfs and buffs which were really needed for a long time.

Without wasting time let’s take a look at the official patch notes and the changes they have made.

FIFA 22 Update 14 Patch Notes

Knuckle Ball Shots

Title Update 14 introduces the following knuckle ball shot change:

Increased the likelihood of a knuckle ball shot occurring when requesting a high-powered shot while the ball is 0.67 meters/2.2 feet from the player’s feet.

With this change, the goal is to increase the shot variety seen during gameplay in order to bring more authenticity to the act of shooting. Attributes don’t affect whether a knuckle shot will happen, the conditions for it are related to the aforementioned distance and shooting direction. The angle of the shot needs to be forward-facing, roughly in the direction that the ball carrier is already looking towards.

Here’s how a knuckle ball shot might look like in game with TU #14:

New Skill Move: Ball Roll Cut 180

A new Skill Move has been added in TU #14:

Added the new Ball Roll Cut 180 Skill Move that can be performed by players with a 4 or 5 star Skill Move rating.

The Ball Roll Cut 180 is intended to give players more options when moving with the ball in order to generate space in new situations that can potentially fool defenders. It’s another tool that attackers can use to break down defenses while also another consideration for defenders to plan for. Here’s how to perform this Skill Move on the default controls:

  • Hold L1 (PlayStation controllers) or LB (Xbox controllers) then flick the Right Stick input opposite of the way the ball carrier is facing, then flick it a second time while still holding L1 or LB.

Here’s how the Ball Roll Cut 180 looks in action:

Shot Blocking

TU #14 has two shot blocking changes:

– Significantly reduced the reach of attempted shot blocks by AI controlled players.

– Slightly reduced the reach of attempted shot blocks by human controlled players.

One of the goals for the ever evolving balance between attacking and defending gameplay is for players to put their skills in each category to the test against one another. As a result, the developers have introduced a significant reduction to the reach of shot blocks from AI controlled players in order to help promote a more player controlled approach to shot blocking.

At the same time however, we’ve slightly reduced the reach of shot blocks from human controlled players in order to promote a more open and free flowing shooting experience during matches.

Low Driven Shots

TU #14 introduces the following change to Low Driven Shots:

– Greatly increased the accuracy of low and mid powered Low Driven Shots.

The developers finally noticed that Low Driven Shots are a little underused since their accuracy did not always have the same consistency as other shot types, so they have adjusted the accuracy in low and mid power scenarios. We are anticipating to see about a 17.5% increase in accuracy for these types of Low Driven Shots when the shot takers are not under any significant pressure. According to EA, their intent here is to provide players with an additional goalscoring option in 1v1 and other scenarios.

Here’s a sample of how 100 low powered Low Driven Shots might have looked like before TU #14. Note that the black lines here show potential off target shots, green lines show goals scored in this scenario, and red lines indicate potential saves by the goalkeeper.

previous low driven shot fifa 22

Now here’s how this same scenario can look like after TU #14:

latest low driven shot fifa 22

Note how there are more green shooting lines than before, fewer black lines, and that the red lines are generally grouped closer together. Overall, the shot grouping is tighter and more accurate, potentially challenging the keeper more so than before.

Tackling Distance

TU #14 makes the following defensive change:

– Significantly decreased the range required for a defender to attempt a tackle without being requested to do so.

Like with the shot blocking changes, this change is intended to promote a more active and hands on attacker vs defender experience. This change will be largely noticeable in, but not limited to, situations in which attackers take on AI controlled defenders and when defenders are applying Secondary Contain.

M3 Champions likely to replace D3ffo with Ex-NaVi Kay/O Main Jady

0

M3Champions (Ex-Gambit), after their Stage two Valorant Champions Tour EMEA Challengers debacle, have decided to bench d3ffo based on his underwhelming performance during the EMEA Challengers. According to the sources, the team is trying out NaVi’s Ex-Player Jady as the potential fifth.

Gambit Esports sent storms across the world after their successful 2021 run, winning the third master, i.e., VCT Masters Berlin 2021, and the young team put EMEA on the map when all the eyes were on Sentinels.

They continued their brilliant performance but failed to close out the series at Valorant Champions against Ascend, losing the title to the International Ascend Roster.

But come 2022, Amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Gambit, as a Russian Organisation, wasn’t allowed to compete. Thus the players of Gambit had to compete under the new alias Masters 3 Champions or M3C.

This change comes during the Group stage of Stage 1 VCT EMEA Challengers. This was a rational decision from Gambit and Riot as the players did not do any wrong, and Gambit’s support for their players during the crisis was appreciated.

Their run in the tournament ended pretty quickly after losing to FPX in the Playoffs stage, where FPX later went on to win the whole event.

Come the current split, FPX played the group stage well, qualifying as the third seed from Group B and managing to defeat Ascend and Team Liquid in the playoffs but eventually lost to FPX to get eliminated.

The tournament run was well fought, but the team lacked a lot making it hard for them to close out games. M3C, VCT EMEA Challengers tried switching roles this split but didn’t yield any results.

The disappointing results despite the strong performances from Chronicle and Nats were a huge bad sign for M3C going into The VCT EMEA LCQ. To ensure their best chances, M3C has decided to bench d3ffo ahead of VCT EMEA LCQ and is likely to play with NaVi’s jady as the new fifth.

The Russian 18-Year-Old has been part of the professional Valorant Scene since its dawn, playing for smaller rosters initially and later joining the European iteration of Ninjas in Pyjamas. After the organization quit its operation, Jady was picked by NaVi in December 2021.

The youngster spends a good seven months in the org. While the team has issues making it out of the group stage, his performance surpasses the team’s inability to win.

The youngster has announced he is taking a break from competition because of deteriorating mental health and has been inactive since May of 2022.

Mainly playing Kay/O throughout, Jady would be a great addition to the team as Chronicle is now taking up the duelist role. The new edition of M3C would be seen in action at the VCT EMEA LCQ and send storms across the region.

As of D3ffo, according to the sources, Ascend has his eyes on D3ffo after benching Zeek. While nothing is concrete now, the new editions of both teams would be a sight to watch.

Sources claim GTA 4 & RDR1 remasters were scrapped

0

A recent report from Twitter user @TezFunz2 suggests that Rockstar Games had planned to rework two of their games, Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption 1 but later scrapped the plans to go forward with the same. Initially, they had to follow the launch of the GTA: Trilogy rework but was called off as they instead chose to actively work on the development of the next Grand Theft Auto title.

Earlier in February, Rockstar Games revealed their goals for the next Grand Theft Auto game where they surprised the community with sudden news which indeed took everyone by storm. But with their current launch featuring the remastered version of the GTA: Trilogy, Rockstar were to plan on remodeling GTA IV and RDR1 although they were rescheduled for the future after the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto hits the store.

The sales of the GTA: Trilogy might have indeed thwarted Rockstar’s plans to further remodel their old titles and instead work on getting out the newest addition to their open-world featurette.

On July 5, Kotaku confirmed Tez2’s tweet which said Rockstar would be working on GTA 6 which won’t sabotage their initial plans on bringing out remastered versions of GTA IV and RDR1.

Tez2 also revealed that Rockstar were yet to start if they were to rework their older titles and they were just ideas that had been pitched and remained the same for years.

SicK to miss NA Last Chance Qualifier, says ShahZam

0

Hunter “SicK” Mims who is known for donning the flex role on the main roster of Sentinels will miss out on the forthcoming Last Chance Qualifier event towards the Istanbul event.

The news was first made public by Sentinels captain Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan on his stream and later by Dexerto which did suggest that SicK would be missing out on the NA LCQ event which would give the team a chance to qualify for the Valorant Champions tournament to be held from September 2-18.

This won’t be the first time SicK pulling out from a tournament as the player had previously been spotted sporting his leave of absence request during the final two weeks of the VCT Stage 2 Challengers North America including matches against Cloud9 and FaZe Clan.

Team’s head coach Shane ‘Rawkus’ Flaherty had filled in for SicK for their match-ups against C9 and FaZe and somehow they managed to score themselves a spot at the Last Chance Qualifier. ShahZam never really mentioned the reason behind SicK’s inactivity but it might connect the dots for us after the latter had tweeted about his struggles with mental health.

Sentinels are yet to make an official announcement addressing SicK’s current spot on the main roster and the replacement to fill in the shoes of the former. A total of eight teams will compete at the VCT last-chance qualifier, with the champion joining OpTic Gaming and XSET as the NA representatives at the Valorant Champions.
