Xbox Mythic Achievement Symbol, Sound and Rules Revealed

Xbox Mythic Achievement details have surfaced in a new update to the Xbox PC App. The update revealed the badge and unlock sound for the very first time, giving players a first look at what many are calling Xbox’s answer to the PlayStation Platinum Trophy.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed last month that the company was building a Platinum-style reward for Xbox players, set to arrive “later this year.” Now, code inside the Xbox app has started to show how the feature will actually work.

Xbox Mythic Achievement Symbol and Sound Revealed

The new symbol and unlock sound appeared after users spotted them inside the latest Xbox PC App update. A post on X by Klobrille first showed the icon and audio cue to the public.

Xbox has not made an official announcement about the Mythic Achievement yet. The badge and sound were found in app code rather than shared through a press release.

How the Xbox Mythic Achievement Works

Early reports assumed the Mythic Achievement would require 100% of a game’s Gamerscore. However, data mined by XCT.live tells a different story.

According to XCT.live, the Xbox app builds the Mythic Achievement from a set of achievements it labels “BaseGame.” When a player earns all of them, the unlock message reads: “Unlocked all N achievements in the original game.”

The game page also includes a “Required for Mythic achievement” filter. Any achievement outside the BaseGame group gets tagged as “Add-on,” which means DLC achievements do not count toward the Mythic unlock.

Based on this code, the Mythic Achievement counts achievements, not Gamerscore. That means it is not tied to a full 100% Gamerscore total, despite earlier assumptions.

Xbox Mythic Achievement vs PlayStation Platinum Trophy

On PlayStation, players must unlock every trophy on a game’s list to earn the Platinum Trophy. There is no extra reward tied to it beyond completing the collection and getting the trophy pop.

It is still unclear whether Xbox will follow the same format. However, Xbox may go a step further by giving players extra rewards for collecting a certain number of Mythic Achievements across their profile.

Several questions about the Xbox Mythic Achievement remain open. It is not confirmed whether the feature will apply only to new games or get added retroactively to older titles, such as Forza Horizon 6.

One clue points to Gears of War: E-Day. Its achievement list includes a final entry called “The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day,” which unlocks only after every other achievement is earned. This achievement awards no points, unlike the rest of the list, suggesting Gears of War: E-Day could be the first game to launch with the Mythic Achievement built in.

Upcoming Xbox Games With Mythic Achievement

Xbox is expected to bring the Mythic Achievement to more upcoming releases. Games such as Fable and Clockwork Revolution are likely candidates, especially as Xbox continues to push console exclusives.

For now, players can update their Xbox PC App to see the new Mythic Achievement symbol and hear its unlock sound. Full details on requirements and rollout are expected soon.
