Twitch bans Metzy’s Warzone Team after a cheating scandal

One of the biggest Call Of Duty Warzone events of the year hit a snag after allegations of cheating surfaced against the Trio of METZY_B, kyrptic_j0ker, & Unifyz participating as a team in the $250K Twitch Rivals Doritos Bowl Warzone event.

The cheating allegation came in after some players noticed the Trio taking extremely sharp aim towards the end of the fourth round of action. After this several Warzone veteran competitors also began accusing the players of cheating and soon an investigation was called upon the game and the event was paused.

100 Thieves’ Tommey shared various clips of the Trio using auto-aim to lock-on enemy players. His video went viral on social media and soon other professional players also joined Tommey, particularly FaZe’s Nickmercs, who was the first to support Tommey’s suspicion and tweet out saying:

“Unfortunately without anti-cheat, authentic Warzone tournaments just aren’t possible anymore. We learned a lot from those Gauntlets & I’ve been tellin’ y’all. There’s too much cheese & way too many rats. Bob & weave baby.”

The organizers were soon to react and banned the Trio from the competition. Event host Caleb ‘WavePunk’ Simmons later released a statement where he explained:

“Based on the evidence submitted from various sources in and out of the tournament, [Twitch has] determined that [their] gameplay was unnatural beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Soon after the disqualification, Twitch opted to move forward with the event and continued the day from the fifth map with one less team in the lobby.

METZY disqualified from Twitch Rivals Warzone tournament

After being disqualified from the tournament, one of the members of the Trio, METZY_B joined Tommey’s Discord call and showed his PC, the programs he’s been using, and more, in an attempt to clear his name. Tommey, after investigating the situation, conceded that METZY_B was clean and got it wrong this time and there wasn’t enough proof to go on with the ban.

“I apologize for that, which’ll mean very little to a lot of you and I know that. I didn’t want to take it any further but nobody else seemed to care (bar one or two) and he asked if I’d talk to him so he can prove he was clean, which he did.”

While METZY wasn’t reinstated to the tournament, many critics deleted their tweets after Tommey apologized. Tommey also clarified that he played no part in reporting METZY to the admins or forcing his removal and the player is “more than welcome to take his earnings” from the event.
