Teamfight Tactics is back on the biggest stage in esports. Riot Games’ auto-battler is running its third straight year at the Esports World Cup (EWC), with sixteen of the world’s best squads gathered in Paris this week to fight for a $500,000 prize pool and the right to succeed reigning champions Weibo Gaming.
The event marks the third chapter of a three-year partnership between Riot Games and the Esports World Cup Foundation, which also brings League of Legends and Valorant to the event. Unlike solo-queue TFT tournaments, EWC uses a team format. Four-player squads compete together, pooling their placements match after match rather than battling purely as individuals.
When and Where
TFT at EWC 2026 runs from July 21 to July 25 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the same exhibition venue that hosted competition venues during the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. This is the first time the Esports World Cup’s TFT event has been held outside Saudi Arabia. The tournament was staged in Riyadh in both 2024 and 2025, with the wider EWC set to return there in 2027.
The tournament breaks down into two stages:
- Group Stage: July 21–23. Sixteen teams are split into two groups of eight, each battling through a double-elimination (GSL-style) bracket. Every match is best-of-three, and the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs, eight seats total.
- Playoffs: July 24–25. The eight survivors move into a single-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three except for the Grand Final, which is a best-of-five.
In each game, a team’s result is determined by adding up the placements of its four players and comparing that total against their opponents. If two teams end up tied on points after a game, the win goes to whichever team had the individual player who finished higher in that match.
The 16 Teams
Sixteen organizations qualified through a mix of regional online qualifiers, closed LAN qualifiers, and a global qualifier, with Weibo Gaming automatically re-entering as the defending champion. The teams were drawn into two groups for the opening stage:

The field spans China, South Korea, Japan, Europe, and the Americas, with Virtus.pro returning as last year’s runner-up looking to go one step further, and JD Gaming and Aurora Gaming arriving fresh off China’s domestic qualifiers.
Prize Pool
TFT’s total prize pool at EWC 2026 is $500,000, matching last year’s purse and folding into the Esports World Cup’s record $75 million overall pool across 25 tournaments. For scale, last year’s champions, Weibo Gaming, took home $150,000 of that $500,000 for winning the 2025 title. A TFT win also carries 1,000 Club Points toward the separate $30 million Club Championship.
GodLike Esports Schedule
India’s GodLike Esports, one of the Esports World Cup’s official Club Partners, is among the 16 teams competing in Group A. Their opening Group Stage match was:
- July 21: GodLike Esports vs. Fnatic, 13:20 BST / 14:20 CEST / 17:50 IST
Because the Group Stage runs on a double-elimination bracket, GodLike’s next opponents depend on that result. A win sends them into the winners’ match, while a loss drops them into the lower bracket, with both paths continuing across July 22–23 before the group’s top four seed into the Playoffs on July 24–25.
