IEM has announced all the necessary details regarding open and closed qualifiers for IEM Shanghai. Intel Extreme Masters, Shanghai would be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center with $250,000 USD on the line from August 1-6. The event will feature eight teams including the likes of Virtus.pro, TyLoo, Gambit, NRG Esports and HellRaisers. Out of the eight teams, three teams would be determined through China, Asia, and ANZ Closed Qualifiers.
All the teams would encounter in the open qualifier for two slots in the closed qualifier in their respective region. All the matches in the open qualifier would be best-of-one except the semi-finals. Two teams winning the best-of-three semi-finals would advance to the closed qualifier and battle with invited six teams. Closed qualifier will have double-elimination best-of-three matches and the winner would grab a slot at IEM Shanghai which will be held in the first week of August.
China:
- Open Qualifier – June 16-17
- Closed Qualifier – June 21-23
Asia:
- Open Qualifier – June 16-17
- Closed Qualifier – June 18-20
ANZ:
- Open Qualifier – June 23-24
- Closed Qualifier – June 25-27
Open Qualifier – Single Elimination best-of-one except semi-finals.
Closed Qualifier – Double Elimination best-of-three.
