The finals of COBX Masters was played between MVP PK and Alpha Red. Prior to the final, MVP PK had not dropped a single map throughout their tournament. On the other hand we had Alpha Red, who scraped a victory against Signify to seal their playoff spot and shocked Grayhound to make it to the Grand-Finals. Following the vetoes, the maps played were Inferno,Mirage and Train.

The vetoes of the maps are as follows:

  • MVP PK removed Cache
  • Alpha Red removed Nuke
  • MVP PK picked Inferno
  • Alpha Red picked Mirage
  • MVP PK removed Overpass
  • Alpha Red removed Dust2
  • Train was left over

The first map was Inferno which was picked by MVP PK, who started on the CT side. Alpha Red picked up the first pistol round. A force buy gamble by MVP PK did not help them.

Alpha Red were able to propel themselves to 3 rounds. Alpha Red were not able to bring their momentum to the first buy round and succumbed to MVP PK, who then proceeded to tie the score at 3-3. MVP PK continued to thrash Alpha Red, and ended the half with a scoreline of 12-3, dominating the team from Thailand.

In the second half, MVP PK continued their domination and picked up the pistol round and the following force-buy round, pushing the score to 14-3. MVP PK easily pulled of a clean sweep and ended the map with a scoreline of 16-3.

MVP PK looked to bring their same form on the second map, Mirage, which was picked by Alpha Red. The Koreans brought the same momentum to the first half and ended it with a scoreline of 14-1. However, Alpha Red had not completely given up and turned the game to a scoreline of 15-15, pushing it to overtime. During overtime, MVP PK were able to scrape a victory and won the series with a scoreline of 19-17, in their favor.
