For the first time in the history of the Mid Season Cup, an Indian team will walk out on stage. True Rippers Esports open their MSC 2026 campaign on July 22 against Indonesia’s Team Vitality at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, and win or lose, the match is a milestone for Indian mobile esports.

The Bo3 is scheduled for 2:00 PM CEST, which is 5:30 PM IST, a comfortable evening slot for viewers back home.

How An Indian Team Qualified For MSC 2026

India was never part of the MSC conversation until this year. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang only recently entered the country under a localised title, MOBA Legends: 5v5, and Moonton wasted little time building a competitive pipeline around it. The result was the ML Masters Series (MLMS) Season 1, the country’s first franchised-level MLBB event, with a $50,000 prize pool and one golden ticket attached: the winner would represent India at MSC 2026.

True Rippers took that ticket the hard way. They went 6-0 in the league stage, swept Revenant XSpark 2-0 in the semifinals, then survived a full five-game grand final against GodLike Esports at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on May 10. The 3-2 win earned them $18,000 and, more importantly, the MSC slot. The final also pulled a record 21,046 peak viewers, the highest ever for an MLBB event held in India, which tells you how quickly interest is building around a game that barely existed in the country a year ago.

The organisation rebuilt its roster specifically for this run. Rehansyah, Kyle, IYanZz, Kimyy and Duba came in together in February, with Zen and Abhi added over the following weeks. The squad has looked settled since, and the unbeaten league run in Mumbai suggests the pieces fit.

What MSC 2026 looks like

This is the ninth edition of the Mid Season Cup and the biggest one yet. The tournament features 25 teams overall and a prize pool of over $3 million, with $1 million going to the champion. It runs as part of the Esports World Cup 2026, which moved from Riyadh to Paris in May because of the regional situation, making this the first MLBB major ever held outside Asia.

The Wildcard stage wrapped up on July 4, with Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons claiming the last of the 16 group stage spots. From here, the event breaks down like this:

• Group Stage (July 22 to 26): 16 teams, two groups of eight, GSL-style double elimination, all matches Bo3. Top four from each group advance.
• Knockout Stage (July 29 to August 1): single elimination, Bo5 matches, with the upper bracket qualifiers picking their quarterfinal opponents.
• Grand Final (August 1): a full Bo7, plus a third-place match.

Matches are being played at the Lenovo Legion Gauntlet Arena inside the Paris Expo, and every game streams live on the official MLBB Esports and Esports World Cup channels.

The Group India Drew

True Rippers landed in Group A alongside Team Vitality (the Bigetron organisation, now under the French banner), Team Falcons PH, Guangzhou Gaming, Team Vamos, Team Falcons MENA, Team Spirit and IGNITE Gaming. Group B holds defending champions Team Liquid PH, ONIC, Selangor Red Giants and the rest.

The opening draw is brutal on paper. Vitality qualified as Indonesia’s top seed, and Indonesian teams have won this tournament multiple times. But the double elimination format is the saving grace here. A loss on day one does not end the campaign; it drops True Rippers into the lower bracket, where the path stays alive against the group’s other early losers. For a debutant region, that structure matters far more than the first opponent does.

Realistically, teams like Team Falcons MENA, IGNITE Gaming or Guangzhou Gaming are the measuring sticks. If True Rippers can take a series off any of the group’s middle tier, that alone would be a statement result for a scene playing its first international event.

Why This Matters Beyond One Tournament

Indian esports has been searching for a mobile MOBA foothold for years. BGMI dominates the conversation, but MLBB gives Indian organisations a title with a genuine global circuit, and MSC results feed directly into Esports World Cup Club Championship points. A respectable showing in Paris strengthens the case for a bigger MLMS Season 2, more investment from orgs like S8UL, GodLike and Revenant who fell short this time, and eventually a permanent Indian slot on the international calendar.

True Rippers also get a second shot at the world stage regardless of how Paris goes. India is set to field a national MLBB squad at the Esports Nations Cup in Riyadh this November, and the players who perform at MSC will be the obvious candidates.

For now, the assignment is simple. July 22, 5:30 PM IST, Vitality across the map, and a country watching its first MSC match with a flag in it.
