ESL One Los Angeles Major’s Chinese qualifiers got postponed due to coronavirus outbreak

The third set of Dota Pro Circuit Major and Minor tournaments bound to happen next month in Los Angeles, California and Kyiv Ukraine, the regional qualifiers were set to start later this week.

All regions should supposedly to begin open qualifiers for the same by 7th of February. Unfortunately, due to coronavirus outbreak, the Chinese teams were informed yesterday I.e 4th of February that the open qualifiers got postponed by Valve. The message was conveyed in an announcement posted by Huomao TV, the CN Qualifiers host, in a WeChat group with all the Chinese teams.

The post reads as:

Latest update: due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Valve has decided to postpone the CN open qualifier and the ensuing closed qualifier for the Los Angeles Major. The new date for the open qualifier will be February 12th, while the time for the closed qualifier is yet to be decided.  Please continue your team’s registration on Perfect World’s PVP platform for the open qualifier.

As we said, the next Major will take place in Los Angeles, a possible scenario could be that no Chinese team will be present for the third set of the DPC as the virus outbreak showing no signs of slowing.

For the time being, no official word is out by Valve or ESL One. However, Europe, CIS, Southeast Asia, North and South America open and closed regional qualifiers should begin as announced schedule, that is: open qualifiers February 7-8th and closed qualifiers February 9-12th.
