CS2 Dataminer Claims Valve is Doing “Something Unprecedented” With VAC

As we approach two weeks from the release of Counter-Strike 2 Premier Season 5, dataminers have started digging up information that suggests some revolutionary changes coming to the game’s anti-cheat system in the near future.

Gabe Follower, a well-known CS2 dataminer and content creator who regularly leaks new changes before Valve announces them, posted a cryptic X post on July 19 claiming that the CS2 devs have done “something unprecedented” to the anti-cheat system, which has completely stopped it from being triggered by rage hacks.

However, Gabe Follower has uncharacteristically remained pretty tight-lipped about the finer details involving these changes. As per his X post, he’s “gatekeeping” the news for now, saying that it isn’t typical clickbait, and that he’s still looking for more information and verifying everything before sharing more.

He further describes the leaks as sounding “kinda promising already,” and said a full breakdown will come in a separate video, likely next week.

Over the past few years, concerns around cheating have reached an all-time high in the CS2 community. “Rage hacking,” the blatant, often obvious use of aimbots and wallhacks, has long been one of the more visible failures of VAC’s detection window, and cheaters who are blatantly spinning and hitting every headshot through walls often seemingly go unpunished.

Until Gabe Follower shares further specifics, the exact nature of Valve’s “unprecedented” change remains unknown. But it’s about time for some changes to the CS2 anti-cheat, and if the VAC overhaul is real, it could be one of the more significant CS2 updates of the year, if not the past decade.
