OG beat Cloud9 in straight maps to eliminate the Colossus from Flashpoint while securing a place in the Consolidation Final of Group C.
Cloud9 did put up a fight against OG, pushing them to second overtime on Nuke. The second map was a much easier one for OG, who secured the series with a 16-10 win on Mirage. OG captain Aleksi ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen was the star of the series, boasting a positive kill/death difference of 33 over two maps and a rating of 1.63 for the series.
However, the defeat means Flashpoint is over for the Colossus and that the North American organization has bowed out of their debut event without winning a single map.
Fans of the Colossus will take heart from some individual performances, with Ozgur ‘woxic’ Eker posting positive numbers against OG and Virtus Pro. William ‘mezii’ Merriman‘s performances meant the UK star left a good first impression of just what he can do on the server.
This will be a learning experience for Cloud9’s nascent roster and the Colossus will now look to get some more practice under their belt before Blast Premier Fall Showdown.
