Battlegrounds Mobile is the new PUBG Mobile for India

A new report suggests that PUBG Mobile India could be potentially renamed to Battlegrounds Mobile India.

The Indian version of PUBG Mobile was commonly termed as “PUBG Mobile India” for the last few months but new information suggests that the name of this game will be changed to “Battlegrounds Mobile India” in the future. Gemwire discovered this new information while looking into the source code of the official website of PUBG Mobile India.

PUBG Mobile was banned in India in September and soon afterwards, PUBG Mobile India was announced as a replacement to the global version. This new title was developed specifically for the Indian fanbase, similar to pre-existing games like PUBG Mobile KR and Game for Peace, the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile.

After the announcement of PUBG Mobile, a new website and social media handle for this game surfaced on the internet. The background image on this website shows the message “PUBG Mobile India, Coming Soon” and has flickering diyas to symbolize the Indian variant.

Gemwire did new research on this website and found out some important changes made to the background image. Their team analyzed the source code and found links to a new creative-asset added to the website.

A new poster creative was found on the website which previously hosted the lantern-flickering creative of the initial announcement of PUBG Mobile India. According to it, the name of this localized version has been changed to ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India’ in that image. A “Coming Soon” message was also included alongside the name. This could be another video made private in their asset collection on Vimeo with a new thumbnail.

This change could potentially mean that PUBG Mobile India is being renamed to Battlegrounds Mobile India. The significance of this potential change could not be speculated for now but after the recent trailer leak from the social media handles of PUBG Mobile India, it could be assumed that PUBG Mobile India is undergoing some new changes.
