Counter-Strike 2 is arguably the most popular FPS in the world. It replaced CS:GO a few years ago without significantly different system requirements, which begs the question of whether we can play CS2 on a Chromebook.
While Chromebooks were never identified as a top-tier gaming device, in case you want to run CS2, there might be a few things you should consider before going ahead. Chromebooks handle day-to-day tasks well, but are not powerful enough for modern games like CS2. Even if you manage to run it, the performance would rather have you stick to the ones available in the Play Store.
However, if you are desperate enough to go through a few more steps to play the game, then cloud gaming services might be something to consider, like GeForce Now:
- Visit the GeForce NOW page on the Play Store if your Chromebook satisfies all the criteria. To download the app, click Install.
- Create a GeForce NOW account here as your next step.
- Launch the GeForce NOW app and log in.
- Go to the library, locate Counter-Strike 2, and log in with your Steam credentials.
GeForce Now should let you play the game at a decent FPS that will not stop you from playing the game at its full potential. Goes without saying that the experience is far from ideal, but it is still better than the bare minimum an underpowered Chromebook can offer.
