NRG Valorant Coach Chet Considering CS2 Return Following 6-Month Suspension From VCT

0

Chet “Chet” Singh, the head coach behind the NRG Valorant roster, is considering returning to Counter-Strike 2 following his recent suspension from the VCT.

For the uninitiated, the 28-year-old was banned from participating in the VCT for six months, as confirmed by Riot Games in a ruling earlier today. As per the official ruling, Chet “violated Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct for broadcasting VoDs whose access was contingent on current status as head coach of a VCT team,” which has resulted in his temporary suspension.

Initially, Chet expressed his disagreement with Riot Games via an X post and said that he will continue streaming until the ban expires in March 2025.

A few hours later, Chet confirmed in a follow-up post that he will be exploring his options in CS2.

“With recent news I’m going to be exploring my options in CS2, if any teams are interested next year after the major DMs are open,” his statement reads.

He further confirmed that he isn’t bidding farewell to Valorant just yet, and is still open to opportunities once his suspension ends.

In the past, we saw Chet coaching several prominent North American CS teams between 2016 and 2020, finding remarkable success during his stints with Evil Geniuses and NRG.

CS2 fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to seeing Chet’s return to the Valve shooter in the future.

CS2 Map Designer Starts Working on Cobblestone

Popular Counter-Strike 2 map designer Joshua Roberts aka JFX Design to revamp the fan favorite Cobblestone that was removed during the early days of CSGO. Fans of the map are eager to dive in, even if they haven’t yet delved into all the finer elements of the revamp. It already looks fantastic.

On October 12, JFX Designs shared a post on the Counter-Strike subreddit showcasing his ongoing project. Fans were taken aback by the impressive changes made to the map which brought back the urge to play on the map once again.

To rain on the parade, the map is a work in progress and is far from actually getting implemented in the game unless Valve steps in accelerate the process. The map looks incredible on the new engine and will likely attract a lot of players if released in the game.

Players have been calling for a shake up of the maps in the Active Duty map pool but nothing has been addressed. As the major approaches, it is unlikely that major changes would be made before the end of the year but 2025 will likely introduce new maps in the pool.

Popular streamer Asmongold apologized on social media for remarks he made about the people of Palestine during a show, calling them “stupid.” that sparked controversy among viewers who deemed it extremely insensitive.

During one of his recent streams, Asmon stated that he would not “cry a river” for the people killed in the region, because “they come from an inferior culture” which is “directly antithetical to everything Western values stand for,” he added.

Upon receiving the backlash, he went on to X to apologize for his actions. “Looking back on it, I was way too much of an asshole about the Palestine thing,” he said. “Of course, no one deserves to have their life destroyed even if they do things or have views I find regressive” Asmon added.

Deadlock Ranked Mode Explained: Restrictions, Queue Times & Ranking System

0

After nearly two months since the initial announcement of Deadlock in August 2024, Valve has finally introduced a ranked mode to the hero shooter. The newly added ranked mode will help players better identify their skill level in competitive play, something that was impossible for players to do up until now without the help of third-party trackers.

The highly anticipated ranked mode in Deadlock is set to go live today, but it has a number of features that set it apart from the competitive mode in your regular shooters. Deadlock is still in its early development phase, which is why the devs have stated that they are “experimenting with a different approach to Ranked.” Players can expect the current ranked system to be tweaked in the near future.

At the time of writing, there are certain restrictions to playing the ranked mode of Deadlock. These restrictions include specific ranked queue times for all regions, behavior-related restrictions, and more.

Deadlock Ranked Mode Requirements

Not everyone can participate in the ranked mode of Valve’s Deadlock right away. In fact, you need to meet certain eligibility criteria to be able to participate in ranked.

Players meeting the following requirements can participate in Deadlock ranked when it kicks off on October 15th:

  • At least 50 games played in the unranked mode.
  • No behavior-related restrictions (voice/text bans, report misuse, etc).

Additionally, the Deadlock ranked queue will be solo only, which means that players won’t be able to participate in ranked if they are in a party.

Deadlock Ranked Mode Queue Times

The Deadlock ranked mode will feature designated queue times during which players can participate in ranked matches. We saw something similar during the game’s initial testing phase, where players were only allowed to queue during specific time windows each day.

The ranked queue for Deadlock will be open from 1pm-4pm and 7pm-10pm in the respective time zones every day. On top of that, each region will have multiple time zones that players can select from. Once players lock their time slot, it can’t be changed for the remainder of the week.

The first ranked games in Deadlock begin October 15th, 8pm GMT.

Deadlock Ranking System Explained

Deadlock Ranked Mode

Valve has confirmed that Deadlock will feature 11 medals in total with 6 levels in each. Players’ medals and levels will be displayed during ranked games. Medal placements are updated weekly on Tuesdays at 8 pm GMT.

Players must have played at least 7 ranked games in a week in order to be eligible to receive a rank for that week. If a player is unable to meet the 7-game requirement, their medal will be marked as ‘undefined’ until they play enough and earn a new medal the following Tuesday.

The first medals for Deadlock ranked will be granted globally on October 22nd, 8 pm GMT.

Dota 2 February 2025 Player Count

Dota 2 is one of the biggest MOBAs on the internet, with millions of players tuning in every day—whether they’re competing for their dream rank or just having fun with friends.

Despite being over a decade old, Dota 2 continues to hold its own against other popular multiplayer titles in the genre. If you find yourself wondering about the Dota 2 player count in 2025, we have you covered.

In this article, we’ll take a look at how many people play Dota 2 in 2025, and how the player count of the Valve title has evolved over the years.

Dota 2 Player Count: How Many People Play Dota 2 in 2025?

A quick glance at SteamDB shows that Dota 2 remains among the top titles on Steam, boasting an active concurrent player count of nearly 700,000.

Since its initial release in 2013, Dota 2 has remained one of the most complex esports titles available—if not the most complex. While this intricacy and steep learning curve may deter some players, the game continues to outshine prominent esports titles like Apex Legends and Marvel Rivals to this day.

With Valve constantly introducing new updates with innovative gameplay elements, Dota 2 is in a perpetual state of evolution. As a result, the game’s player count and competitive scene aren’t expected to take a dive anytime soon.

Is Rocket Racing Dead? New Content Coming July

0

Lately, the Fortnite community is never slow with updates and changes to the game that players are constantly waiting for the next big patch or mode to try. Among such modes, Rocket Racing, has stirred quite a lot of controversy lately. Rocket Racing was an interesting concept at first; combining high-speed racing with a touch of Fortnite’s flare. However, the emergence of new updates and changes has made the players to ponder on the future of this game.

Othe large game modes that came with Rocket Racing include Fortnite Festival and Lego Fortnite and Rocket Racing added a new flavour to the game. Inspired by Rocket League, it introduced racing with features of Fortnite vehicles. This has been the case with Rocket Racing which, although offers something new compared to other racing games, isn’t as popular. This has given rise to questions in whether it is transient and may be replaced by another model in the future.

The speculation came to a head when a recent change to Fortnite’s API pointed to the fact that the next major content update for Rocket Racing had been pushed back. First of all, the update, that was promised to be released this season, looks like has been postponed to October. This raised lots of concern among the game’s community fearing that Rocket Racing was on its death beds.

However, it took not long for Epic Games to come back with explanations that the delay was caused by a bug and that the next content drop is planned for July. It is hoped this update will allow for the addition of new tracks, cars and hopefully further additions which will keep this mode interesting for its players.

In fact, Rocket Racing which has comparatively fewer players than the other modes of the game is not defunct. Many people still use it and the times for a match can still be relatively short. The mode’s niche appeal means it doesn’t attract the same mass audience as something like Lego Fortnite, but it still holds its own within its genre. The way Epic Games constantly updates Rocket Racing and fixes problems with the game means that the game stays relevant and fun.

To sum up, one can state that Rocket Racing might not be occupying the biggest number of fans in Fortnite yet it cannot be considered dead. As it gears up for a new set of content and has an audience that likes its flavour of racing merged into Fortnite-style play, it appears poised to deliver high-speed thrills for an audience that enjoys such games. Well, for now Rocket Racing is very much around and active waiting to rev its way to the next level.

Bleed Esports CEO Mervyn Goh’s Legal Troubles: Unpaid Salaries and Allegations of Misconduct

Bleed Esports, once a popular up-and-coming esports organisation, is currently in a troubling state after its CEO Goh En Wei Mervyn is now in a criminal trial in Singapore. Organisation that currently has teams in Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, DOTA 2, Rainbow Six Siege is coming undone due to claims of unpaid wages and prize money.

The trial, set for October 21, 2024, under Singapore’s Penal Code 1871, casts a shadow over Mervyn’s leadership. The charges are still not defined but as mentioned above the Penal Code is rather general and thus they could be anything from embezzlement to murder. This legal case is not a first that Mervyn and his companions are connected with some suspicious events.

Accused of an assault in 2022, Mervyn was charged with attacking Lincoln Lim Jun Hong, a former Bleed Esports investor. In physical assault of a woman case against Lim, he made Mervyn to be present during the alleged act. Such connexion has prompted some concern over the issue of ethical practise within the organisation.

Allegations of Financial Mismanagement

The Bleed Esports continue to face financial problems. Aleksandar “Kassad” Trifunovic, the former coach of Bleed’s Counter-Strike 2 team, has publicly accused the organization of owing players tens of thousands of dollars. It includes unpaid prize money and salaries including but not limited to $130,000 for Apeks and $42,000 for G2 Esports. These allegations portray a very wrong situation concerning the financial situation of the organisation.

Riot Games Expulsion from Valorant Champions Tour

It got worse when Riot Games decided to dismiss Bleed Esports from the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) for their inability to meet some vital reporting standards¹. This expulsion not only stained the image of the organisation but also evicted those players and they are struggling to look for a team.

Not even Rainbow Six Siege team, which used to be one of the Bleed Esports successes is safe from this. Terdsta, one of the players, disclosed that he was earning less than $700 per month and has not been paid $35,000 by the organisation. His account shows the key problem that Bleed Esports has faced since its establishment: lack of a stable revenue stream that would allow players to live off their gaming earnings.

The fate of Bleed Esports remains uncertain as important trial comes closer. The organisation’s teams are in a process of dispersion, and Mervyn remains silent about the accusations. Esports fans are closely following the case because the decision made in this trial could become a benchmark for the rest of the industry.

The players and staff of Bleed Esports are still fighting for justice and their money in the middle of all this. These accounts explain why esports needs better governance and ethical standards in organisations. While the trial continues, it still is uncertain whether Bleed Esports will be able to get back on its feet and whether it will become an example for others to avoid.
