BOOT Dominate Global Esports in a BO1 on Dust 2

The match between Global Esports and BOOT -d[S] took place on Dust2 after the vetos took place. The vetos were

  • Global removed Mirage
  • BOOT-d[S] removed Overpass
  • Global removed Train
  • BOOT-d[S] removed Cache
  • Global removed Nuke
  • BOOT-d[S] removed Inferno
  • Dust2 was left over

Global Esports began on the T-side. The Indian Squad was getting dominated in the first half and were only able to pull back 3 rounds in total on the attacking side due to complete domination by the Singaporean side due to their unbreakable defense.

However, the Indian team raised the hopes of a comeback by showing some promise on the CT-side where they showed some strength on the Dust 2. However, their success was short-lived as the Singaporeans were here to end the game quickly and finished the game with a scoreline of 16-9.

MVP PK has won the 2nd match of group B in the COBX Masters 2019 by beating Signify 16-11

The pistol round was won by MVP after a close affair, and after winning the anti eco, Signify won the first gun round and raced on to a 3-2 lead on their CT side.

However, the home side did not have anything to show in the preferred side as they lost all 10 of the remaining CT rounds.

At 12-3, it was all but over as MVP got on to the preferred side, but after winning the pistol and anti eco, there was some hope at 12-5 and after winning the gun round, the crowd rallied behind the troops as Signify won the first 6 rounds to get to 12-9. Rising star Deathmaker was particularly really good in the game, getting 24 frags to his name.

However, when a comeback was looking set at 12-9, Signify lost an unlikely eco round to MVP who had just 2 guns coming into it. While HSK was poor in the 2nd half, losing AWP duels consistently, as Signify won the next 2 rounds to make the game competitive.

Ultimately though, their lack of money in the closing stages proved to be deciding, as the Korean team closed out the match by winning a string of rounds and breaking their money, winning 16-11 in the process.

It was a good showing from the Indian side as they showed some fight and potential to compete with some of the best in Asia. Their next match will be played against Thai Team Alpha Red in a straight shootout for the playoffs.

Respawn accidentally enables early leaving penalty in Apex Legends

Respawn already had many problems with the update 1.1 and after a day another problem came to light when some players reported that were receiving leaving penalty.

As the name suggests leaving penalty is given when a player leaves the game early before the conclusion of the match. In case of battle royale games like Apex Legends, it would mean when either all your teammates die or you are completely dead.

But in case of Apex Legends things are a bit different as the game have a revive system in place where if a teammate is unable to pick a player up in time, they go into revive state where a flag comes up with a timer. Some players tend to leave the game as soon as they get downed and die, not waiting for this revive state to finish. This triggered the leave penalty script and handed soft ban to such player after 3 matches. Although the time was short, players were frustrated with this change as nothing was mentioned in Patch notes about the early leaving penalty being enabled.

Respawn were quick to respond and said that the change was unintentional and wasnโ€™t meant to ship with update 1.1. They said this change was too early to be implemented and was only meant for internal testing. Due to some error with the script the penalty was enabled accidentally. They shipped a hotfix across all platforms and disabled the early leaving penalty.

Although they didnโ€™t say if the penalty will be released in future update or not. Many games have a feature like an early penalty system to stop griefing and tackle the problem of players having to queue longer for games and then being unable to find a match successfully. With respawn testing this feature, itโ€™s only a matter of time before it is enabled across all platform.

Epic bans use of stretched resolution in Fortnite Tournaments and Arena

0

Epic the creator of Fortnite just announced that they wonโ€™t allow players to use stretched resolutions in competitions or arena and the game will be locked at 16:9 resolutions. This update comes just days before the Fortnite World Cup event.

Previously players were able to switch 16:9 aspect ratio to 4:3 making the resolution stretched which helped in increasing fps as well as made spotting enemies easier in many cases. Playing with stretched resolution in competitive tournaments gave an advantage to these players making it unfair for those who preferred to play in 16:9 aspect ratio. Although this change is debatable and many donโ€™t favour it but some pros like Ninja think that it is for better, as the players with stretched resolution had an unfair advantage and now with this change, the playing field will be levelled amongst pros.

But some pros came out opposed this change and took twitter to talk about it. Players like team Liquidโ€™s Jake โ€œPOACHโ€ Brumleve said:

Another player from Team liquid, Chap said :

Although some had a neutral stance on this and questioned why change something so significant when a tournament is nearby. Luminosity gamingโ€™s SypherPk said :

Epic is yet to comment anything on this and rather took the silent approach, than trying to do damage control. Community is in uproar with this change since time to qualify for world cup event is closing in. For players to get used to new settings it will take time and some argue that it is unfair for them and they wonโ€™t be able to qualify now with such a significant change coming on short notice.

Prince Harry suggests banning Fortnite as he talks about the addictive nature of social media

0

Prince Harry visited the YMCA in South Ealing, west London, on Wednesday, where he attended an event on mental health initiative talking about the dangers of social media, declaring it โ€˜more addictive than drugs and alcoholโ€™ during the session.

The focus of the event was too aware parents about the issue of mental health of their kids and how easy it is for kids to absorb negative influence easily and hard for parents to get rid of it. Many believe that the issue arises with the rise of ease of access to social media and how it remains non regulated against these negative influences.

Prince Harry said: โ€œThereโ€™s too much negativity surrounding mental health and it must be so hard for young people to talk about it. โ€˜Social media is more addictive than drugs and alcohol, and itโ€™s more dangerous because itโ€™s normalised and there are no restrictions to it. โ€˜We are in quite a mind-altering time, but quite an exciting time, because everyone in this room has the opportunity to make a real difference.โ€™ Later on, he suggests that games are bad for kids and have a bad influence. He said: โ€˜A game like Fortnite, for instance, may not be so good for children. Parents have got their hands up; they donโ€™t know what to do about itโ€.

Later on, he said: โ€œItโ€™s like waiting for the damage to be done and kids turning up on your doorsteps and families being broken down. Fortnite shouldnโ€™t be allowed. Where is the benefit in having that game in your household? โ€˜Itโ€™s created to addict โ€“ an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. Itโ€™s so irresponsible.โ€™

What Prince Harry was suggesting is that games like Fortnite are to addictive for kids and make them irresponsible and hampers growth of their minds. The addictive nature of these games makes it hard for parents to control kids and at times kids will stay put on their gaming device for long hours to only play Fortnite.

Although this news wasnโ€™t taken lightly by fans on twitter and many started calling Prince Harry a hypocrite and being patronizing. Some of the highlights are as follows :

https://twitter.com/Elliemcdonald29/status/1113694959708909569
https://twitter.com/TL_Mason/status/1113701268445376512

There were many responses to this news but those were too brutal ( too much gore ) to share on this article with people actually going out of their way and asking Prince to mind his own business and leave the game alone. Whatโ€™s your take on this, will banning a game actually solve any of these issues with access to other similar games with same theme?
