SK wins their first map against heavyweights G2

It was a treat to watch two of the top teams in the world compete at the majors in the early stages of the game. G2, which is already sailing the ship on the edge of the world, who beat SK Gaming last week got defeated to them in the first match with a tough scoreline of 16-11 after being neck-to-neck for the most of the map.

The match begin with G2 starting off in the terrorist side where ‘fer’ denied the push by taking two headshots in the very first round which led to SK winning the first map followed by the anti-ecos in which ‘fer’ got couple of kills in the second and the third round making it 3-0 in favor of SK. RPK’s two kills helped G2 winning the fourth round as they came back in the rifles making it 3-1 and 303 further after SK were forced to pistols. However, in the seventh round, fnx shattered the dreams of the french when both the sides were rifles with his two kills making the score 4-3 favoring the SK, and the following rounds to make it a 5-3 which forced G2 to tec9-armors. Shox and co. were able to bring it back from the tec9-eco round followed by the next round where Rpk went huge by getting 3 kills and the scores tied yet again to a 5-5.

SK. FalleN

After a couple of easy rounds in the bank of G2, Scream pulled of an amazing 1v2 post-plant clutch at the B bombsite, smartly tricking the SK side by spraying them down from an unexpected angle making the scores 8-5. The Brazilian captain quickly responded back with 2 scout kills, stealing a couple of back and forth rounds, ending the half 8-7 favoring the french side.

Although after a couple of delayed losses favoring the SK side, SmithZ stepped up to get 7 massive kills in 2 consecutive rounds followed by a clutch by Rpk to make it 11-10 favoring them. The couple of following rounds were sort of mishap where Brazilians completely outplayed the Frenchmen taking the scoreline ahead to 14-11 and closing the first match 16-11. The first match of the Group of death surely got us amazing content and experience of the major. Unfortunately, only two of the four from Group D will make their way to the playoffs, and the three of them are the favorites of the majors already!

Team Brutality wins Novaplay’s Supernova

1

Team Brutality wins Novaplay’s Supernova CS:GO championship held in Banglore on 3rd of July, 2016, making it their longest win-streak back-to-back in the majors. They were awarded with ₹2,00,000 in the bank and a respect to carry forward in the next event.

The finals were a bit not like the finals as Team Brutality comfortably were able to clinch the championship title by defeating top Indian CS:GO teams and making themselves once again the Number 1 CS:GO team in India without a doubt. The debatable topic whether they are good only during online events is no longer logical as this is their power-pack victory even though when teams like Overcome and Wolf were fellow participants.

Novaplay

There is nothing much to talk technically about their game as the victory came in with two back to back wins leaving the last map untouched as they won 16-5 on cache, followed by 16-3 on dust2 in the grand finals versus Team Kungfu Pandits.

Team Brutality attend the event with their regular lineup, V3n0m, RiX, Fox, Kundya and astarrrr; whereas, The Kunfu Pandits were, Ribbi, AKS, Petrichor, Marzil and Moon.

The event, however, turned out to be unexpectedly great after the controversial decisions by the organizers led the unwanted vibes of negativity crawling around the fest with lots of different opinions edging their impact on the outcome of the event. We were at the event to witness some amazing Counter Strike as the organizers left no stones unturned in making this one of the biggest and successful LAN event this year.

The production, scheduling, technical and all the other aspects of the event were exceptional. The likes of Bleh and Aequitas at the analysis-cum-casting desk also added cheese to the dish as they were flawless in their non-stop 9 hours run. Novaplay’s Supernova was overall a sweet deal for the Counter Strike community with added perks at the LOFT38 pub which also had Comedy Industry’s veteran Abish Mathew as the stand-up comedian for the night.

Other than Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Novaplay had a Cosplay event as well which turned out to be great with Vijay Sinha assisting the viewers on from the stage and participating turning out to be in huge numbers. Supernova, as the website says, plans to continue their run for 4 different cities other than Bengaluru which is obviously a great news for the community.

Team Overcome beat Wolf-Invisible wings at ESL Starter Cup #2 CS:GO finals

The ESL Starter Cup #2 finals played between Team Overcome and Team Wolf (now Invisible Wings) had an unfortunate turn out of events when Team Wolf’s boot-camp was hit by internet failure which led them to forfeit the second map (11-11 in cobblestone at the time of disconnect) after losing the first one 7-16 on mirage. Team Overcome became the ESL Starter Cup #2 CS:GO champions.

We were expecting a breathtaking battle between two of the India’s top 5 teams with similar skill levels competing against in the ESL India Premiership Starter Cup #2 CS:GO finals, which turned out to be rather one-sided upset in the first map only to finish the best-of-three battle with forfeit in the second map after Team Wolf faced connectivity trouble. As a matter of fact Team Overcome clinched the victory 2-0 in a best of three grand finals affair to be called ESL Starter Cup # CS:GO champions, they will be qualified for the LAN finals alongside Team Wolf which will be held in Hyderabad very soon.

Team Overcome

Putting some light on Team Overcome, who are not yet well renowned in the industry. The team was formed a couple of months ago and have had a good run all throughout their journey. Not winning any major events but were definitely in the top four in almost all the national tournaments held.

Their major wins were marked in Mangima 2016 Pune which held earlier this year, Team Overcome stood 3rd at Mangima, 4th at Lenovo India Gaming Week and Videogame Fest, Bangalore, they were also the runners-up at TPLinks ClanWars Season 4. Their latest two achievements were recorded today when they stood 4th at Novaplay’s Supernova being eliminated by Team Brutality (16-13) who later on went ahead winning the event.

EnVyUs at long last turned around the tide in the eighth round as Dan “Zenith” Madesclaire grabbed two AK passages to put a round on the board for nV, making the score 7-1 with VP driving. The following round saw French AWPer Kenny “kennyS” Schrub secure three slaughters with his mark weapon and the principal half abruptly contracted in the score as nV tested all the more effectively; the half eventually finished 9-6 for the Poles.

Vincent “HappY” Schopenhauer and his group against started a Virtus.pro early B-site hit and the similar player gathered three USP kills to secure the second pistol round for the French group. EnVyUs pushed forward to a 14-4 score before a quad execute fromJarząbkowski put some wind in the Poles’ sails. The accompanying round saw a five-on-five group battle from the two groups at Mid and EnVyUs apparently looked weaker with Schrub left in a one-versus-two and with very little data, yet the AWPer still in some way or another won the round and took match point.

Virtus.pro figured out how to win a couple of more adjusts in a last stand situation, yet an EnVyUs pistol buy on the 24th round saw Démolonsecure two Five-Seven kills in A fundamental and help his group close out the second map 16-8. Drama continues as Invisible Wings disbands current roster to sign Wolf

2

Invisible Wings, one of the top most eSports organization in India is set to leap a major step in uniting their players as they sign Team Wolf and bid adieu to their current roster. The organization will now have the fresh line of players as they move ahead from ex-JMD Gaming roster.

Our sources suggest us that there is another big shuffle incoming in the Indian CS:GO scene as Invisible Wings releases their current CS:GO squad which was based in Calcutta. They will now be hiring the top line of players including:

  • Tejas ‘Ace’ Sawant,
  • Mithil ‘MithilF’ Sawant
  • Simar ‘Psy’ Sethi
  • Ritesh ‘Ritz’ Shah
  • Manan ‘Manan’ Bhat

The switch comes in after the previous roster was unable to show their maximum performance as told to us by our sources close to the organization. Interestingly, the ex-Invisible Wings did perform well during their run in the organization, they came 2nd in ESL India Premiership Starter Cup #2 beaten by Brutality. They were even the runners-up at IGL Season 1. We will wait and watch to confirm the authenticity of this deal very soon.

Dream of fans shattered as India knockedout to HongKong 0-2 at TWC 2016

It was an opportunity for Indians to get four-squared into the eSports map of Asia, but once again the result of the match wasn’t unconventional as we lost to HongKong 0-2 (8-16 on mirage and cache) in a best of three and are done for this year’s The World Championship 2016.

Principally not shocking, yet it hurts to see the poor performance of the roster which is representing the nation in a global affair. The strength whatever may be, weaken may be the criticism, all we always get is an unrecoverable loss followed by disappointments from the players and comes retirement.

The mockery isn’t when we discuss the issue, it is when the issue isn’t looked out of the intentions of solving it. The Indian lineup at The World Championship 2016 surely had the potential of winning at least a map. From the leaders which hold international experience and their colleagues along with whom they represented India on multiple occasions, it didn’t seem like this roster was the only best option we had. With great power comes great responsibility, and sometimes pomposity.

If teams like Invisible Wings, don’t gain experience now, then when?

Even though with the likes of V3n0m, Excalibur, astarrrr, psy, antidote, Ad1, fox,  and other top players in the country, the lineup was finalized rather just for the sake of participating and proving the regular opponents wrong. But the question is, is politics necessary even when the purpose is to represent once’s nation? Or there are no exceptions to foul play?

When there are teams like D5, Invisible Wings, SimpleX Gaming and similars who don’t hold the experience but have the potential, was it necessary to bring in a player from the abroad? I don’t mean here talking about his individuality or performance, because even if he tried his best in the first map, it didn’t bring any difference to the outcome. And I somewhere had this hope that Havoc can help Ace carry the team after he was added to the roster the previous day. If the teams like IW, D5 and SXG don’t get an opportunity to gain experience now, when will be able to participate in international events to level up with the legends?

The recipe for preparing an Indian continental dish is definitely not Pasta.

It is rightly said that we should never just complain, but produce a solution before asking for judgement. The roster could have been better with the addition of new talents combined with the experienced athletes. And No, the answer to difficulties is not solved by playing the victim card, but by being decisive rationally. When I wrote a piece showing my disagreement to the roster shuffle and my graciousness and respect towards Team Brutality for being what they are today, intact and professional, I was being threatened and abused brutally by the so-called professionals of the industry for being too loud and factual.

Only if we could focus on the game instead of mocking our fellow country competitors.

They were destroyed not because of lack of talent, utilities, resources or whatever groundless reason. We lost to sheer dominance.

After watching RiX perform today, now we know why it is important to play with a team consistently rather switching doors every weekend. I personally urge everyone that this is not about you or me or a point of ego-clash, but an organic affection coming from an Indian who wants to see India participating overseas and getting us a recognition!

Bonus advice: Do not focus only on the major events, participate in events regularly, stick to your regular five for a better understanding of team-game. Look out for players beyond your radar, there are CS:GO professionals in every part of the country.
