Nova Esports becomes the winner of PEL 2021 Season 3

The 6-week long and intense matches of Peacekeeper Elite League 2021 Season 3 ended with Nova Esports winning the championship. A total of the best 20 Chinese teams started their journey in the PEL 2021 Season 3 out of which 15 teams made it to the finals. Nova Esports scored a total of 210 points followed by The Chosen which placed at the second spot in the finals with 205 points.

Peacekeeper Elite League 2021 Season 3 featured a massive prize pool of ¥15,000,000 CNY which got distributed among all the teams. Nova Esports took home ¥4,140,000 CNY as part of the prize pool while Team Game was the second team to win the highest portion of the rewards. Paraboy from Nova Esports won the Regular Season’s MVP award and ¥200,000 CNY. 诚c from LGD Gaming was the final MVP and 野猫 from Team Weibo won the best rookie award.

South Asia’s leading Esports organizer NODWIN Gaming has joined forces with India’s largest cinema exhibition company PVR Cinemas to launch the region’s first “In-Cinema Esports” live tournaments.

The partnership will bring an innovative experience for gamers across the country that will be aimed towards fast-tracking the growth of esports as they believe that bigger screens will be extremely appealing for gamers. The tournaments will include Online Esports Cups and In-Cinema tournaments with separate prize pools for each city.

SBTC Esports win Wild Rift SEA Championship

SBTC Esports from Vietnam were crowned as champions at the grand finals of Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021. In a long battle of best-of-seven series, SBTC Esports overpowered Filipino powerhouse Team Secret and won the tournament in a dominant manner.

Wild Rift SEA Championship was the pinnacle of competitive Wild Rift in the Southeast Asian region. Teams from multiple countries fought in Icon Series and subsequently qualified for Wild Rift SEA Championship. This tournament boasted a massive prize pool of $200,000 and SBTC Esports won a lion’s share of $30,000 along with the title of Wild Rift SEA Champions.

Riot Games is forming a sustainable esports ecosystem for their new mobile title LOL: Wild Rift and their focus has been on some major regions to promote their game and one of them was Southeast Asia. The game was first launched in this region in a closed beta phase and quickly moved towards an almost global release within a few months.

Southeast Asian region has enjoyed a good support from Riot Games in terms of boosting the competitive ecosystem. They organized multiple events in this region and SEA Championship was biggest of them all. Best teams representing their home countries gathered in this tournament and Team Secret was one of the fan favourites to stand as a contender for the throne.

Teams from other regions gave a tough competition but SBTC Esports from Vietnam challenged them the most. SBTC defeated Team Secret in the upper bracket semifinals to send them into the lower bracket.

SBTC Esports kept a steady streak to win till the grand finals and Team Secret found their way to the finals to challenge SBTC once again. This rematch started with a good battle between the both in first match. SBTC had a upper hand in the early game but Team Secret found perfect engages to win the first map.

SBTC made a massive comeback from the second game onwards and won four games in the row to conclude this tournament as champions. They won a prize of $30,000 along with a seed in Wild Rift Horizon Cup.

Team Secret will be tagging along with SBTC to attend the Horizon Cup in Singapore and while the rest of the world concludes their own regional tournaments, SBTC stands as SEA champions for a while.

Valve refunds TI10 tickets as COVID-19 cases spike in Romania

The International 10 returns to Bucharest, România this fall to be played at the Arena Națională football stadium. Today the decision to accommodate a live audience into the event was reversed amid the continued rise in the COVID-19 cases in Romania which forced Valve to refund the tickets back to the public and broadcast the event online. Earlier in September, Valve through a blog update had announced ticket sales towards the International 10.

The forthcoming annual The International event will entertain only players, talent, staff along with other necessary event managers, to be present at the venue. Further members from Team Aster and Invictus Gaming too tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently quarantined in their hotel rooms, which was noted by Valve with due diligence. 

The 10th iteration of the International will be held in the European zone after a span of 11 years with Germany being the last venue to ever have hosted an International in 2011. Known as the “TI”, the latter had been an annual event until it was called off in 2020 amid the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic which forced every Esports initiative to transition to an online format. Eighteen teams across the Dota Pro Circuit [DPC] and regional qualifiers made it through to the main event and would now play in an empty arena with the Coronavirus sabotaging yet another marquee tournament, the likes which we saw during the IEM Katowice in 2020 where Natus Vincere and G2 Esports played the grand finals in a crowd-less Spodek Arena.

Natus Vincere kicked off the Legends Stage in style with a 16-11 win over Heroic. Expectations were high from NaVi and they delivered on every front. Heroic had been looking shaky throughout the Challengers Stage, losing to Copenhagen Flames and Entropiq before finally qualifying as legends. NaVi go 1-0 up alongside FaZe Clan, Gambit, Entropiq and G2.

Ancient was picked again, and neither team was an expert on it as they both have quite a small sample size on it. NaVi had the preferred CT started and got off on the right foot, with the pistol and conversion as they went 4-1 up courtest of ‘s1mple’ and ‘electronic’.

But things went south as Heroic found their form and whittled down NaVi’s economy. It wasnt until the final 3 rounds that NaVi could string together 3 rounds to end the half 8-7.

After losing the pistol, it was NaVi’s turn to turn the gears and they did just that. The scoreline didnt do justice to the game as it was back to back clutches from ‘B1T’, ‘Perfecto’ and a 1v3 from IGL ‘Boombl4’ that turned the tide for the CIS side.

Heroic were always on the cusp of winning rounds and kept it close until the end, but it was the clutches that made the difference.

NaVi go 1-0 up in the winners bracket while Heroic drop down to 1-0 alongside CPF, EG, ENCE and Team Liquid in the Legends Stage.

Fnatic Out of Contention for PGL Major After Third Straight Loss at IEM Fall

Legendary Swedish organization fnatic will miss out on a spot at the Major in Stockholm, after they lost all 3 of their games at the final RMR event, IEM Fall. They were already in dire straits, coming into the tournament with just 294 RMR points and needed to at least make the playoffs to have any chances of playing in front of their home crowd.

Having made multiple roster changes over the course of the last year and different RMR tournaments, with the removal of flusha, JW and Golden and adding Jackinho, mezii and ALEX to ramp up their firepower they had to face deduction in points as per Valve’s policy and could only amass 294 points.

Fnatic began their IEM Fall campaign with a loss to FaZe and then followed up with close losses to DBL Poney and Fiend. This leaves them as the only team in Group D without a win, and they sit dead last. With FaZe’s win over DBL Poney, Fnatic will be unable to make it to the playoffs, and even a 3rd place in the Group wouldn’t help them get enough points to overtake other teams.

This is the second consecutive Major that fnatic won’t be present at, after they missed out on a spot at the StarLadder Berlin Major.

Fnatic will now play SKADE and then NiP in hopes of a consolation win.
