To kick off the series, Global Esports selected Bind, but the map failed to go in the favor of the Bhavin “HellRangeR” Kotwani and his men. An early lead of 5-0 indeed set up the rhythm for Enigma Gaming which gave the latter a solid start on their defense as Global Esports were left getting pricked by the wrath of duo, Sabyasachi “Antidote” Bose and Karan “Excali” Mhaswadkar. It was the sixth round where Global Esports were finally able to bag themselves a round following a B-site hit although the mindful Chamber pick of Akram “Rawfiul” Virani saw his team rack up a healthy 9-3 lead over their opponents.

A pistol victory after the side swap put Enigma in the driver’s seat, but a swift 3K reply from Abhirup “LightningFast” Choudhary did bolster Global Esports’s chances to square off the deficit. With no fuel left in the tank, it was Enigma Gaming who clinched Bind 13-4 thanks to Rawfiul’s 3K post-plant defense, going 4-0 up in their legacy record over Global Esports.

The second map between Global Esports and Enigma gaming was nearly a carbon copy of the first as the proceedings on Split saw HellRangeR’s side pick up a 5-0 lead only to concede the sixth round in the favor of their opponents who charted a comeback, thanks to Tejas “Rexy” Kotian’s heroics which nearly squared off the deficit 5-4. Neither team could really dig into the lead as Global Esports ended the half 7-5.

Despite losing the pistol round on their offense, a force buy from Global Esports thwarted Enigma’s game plan who were en route to recover and get past the former with Rishi “RvK” Vijayakumar winning the 16th round for his side. Jayanth “skillZ” Ramesh, Global Esports’ Controller/Sentinel player finally exhibited his presence with a spectacular 3-kill round which did add up to the woes of Enigma Gaming on the back foot. It was Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar who sent Sabyasachi “Antidote” Bose’s side packing to force Map 3.

It was yet another frustrating match for Global Esports who showed plenty of fighting spirit as they went on to drip from an 11-4 lead to 11-12 at the hands of Enigma Gaming. It was Akshay “KappA” Sinkar who led Global Esports to secure 9 rounds to their name in the first half with his battle sage questioning Enigma Gaming’s offensive strategies.

Enigma Gaming indeed came out swinging in the second half with Karan “Excali” Mhaswadkar stringing in rounds thanks to this 9-kill streak across just three rounds between the 19th and 22nd when his team had the guns in their hands. Global Esports did force overtime over Enigma Gaming with a sudden A hit to force overtime over Enigma but only to trade rounds back and forth as no team really took off but it was Antidote who dismantled Global Esports on a backstab to take his team home with a 2-1 over Global Esports, their consecutive series win after their previous triumph over the same opponent in the finals of the WD Black: Season 3.

India’s first Valorant LAN event AMD Skyesports Souvenir – Mumbai 2022 unveiled

Skyesports has reached yet another landmark by hosting the India’s and presumably South Asia’s first LAN Valorant event with four invited teams flying down to Mumbai to compete for $10,000 and bragging rights.

Valorant has climbed in popularity in India to become its first ever sustainable PC esports title. The fanbase around this game is increasing and Skyesports is one of the promoters that is building the competitive ecosystem in India.

Skyesports is known to host big events for BGMI and other titles, including Valorant and this time the organizers have set up a Valorant LAN event. Four teams namely Team Velocity, Global Esports, Enigma Gaming and Team Snakes from Pakistan are attending this event. The invites are distributed on the basis of their past performance in Skyesports’ tournaments.

The Skyesports Souvenir – Mumbai 2022 is presented by AMD. Logitech G is the gaming partner for the event while Croma is the gaming rig partner. Rooter is the broadcasting partner.

The most exciting part of this tournament is that it will have a limited live audience and the invited teams will give away super fan tickets via their social media handles.

The invited teams will compete in a single round-robin format to play a BO3 match and top two teams will face off in grand finals in a grand best-of-five match. A streamer showdown match is also arranged at this event.

Gamers without Borders announced BGMI Tournament with 11 Lakh INR in Prize Pool

Gamers Without Borders is hosting one of the largest open for all BGMI tournaments, with a total prize pool of 11,00,000 INR, in collaboration with esports boutique firm Gamers Hub.

The event, dubbed Gamers Without Borders, is free and open for all. It will provide an excellent opportunity for aspiring players to win a large sum of money over the course of six weeks.

The event is the largest Solo open to all BGMI tournament. Registration will be open every Friday and will be completely free of charge.

Tournament Information

Format and Schedule:

The event will kick off on 2nd May and continue till June 8, which features two Solo- TPP mode tournaments daily. Each tournament will have two rounds:

Round 1:

A total of 750 registered players will be split into 10 lobbies to compete in an Erangel TPP classic match. The top 10 players from each lobby will qualify for the second round.

Round 2:

The top 100 players from Round 1 will compete for a prize pool of 10,000 INR.

Prize Pool Distribution

The daily tournaments will also have a prize pool of 20,000 INR, 10,000 INR for each event. The prizes will be given in the form of gift vouchers.

Activision Blizzard today announced that its shareholders have given approval to the proposed $68.7 billion acquisition deal by Microsoft. Earlier today, Activision Blizzard held a special meeting with its shareholders where more than 98% of shareholders voted in favor of the proposed transaction with Microsoft.

At the beginning of 2022, Microsoft announced its plans to acquire the gaming giant Activision Blizzard for a staggering $68.7 billion via an all-cash deal. Microsoft proposed to purchase shares at a premium and offered $95 per share. While the deal was announced early in the year, Microsoft doesn’t expect the deal to go through before the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.

Today’s announcement by Activision Blizzard brings the deal a step closer to closing. Now the biggest hurdle of getting approval from the Federal Trade Commission remains. Currently, the FTC is chaired by Biden appointee Lina M. Khan, a public advocate known for cracking down on anti-competitive consolidation in the marketplace. Since the Microsoft X Activision Blizzard will supposedly consolidate the market between 3-4 big players only, getting the FTC approval might get tricky for Microsoft. 

If the FTC stocks down the deal or otherwise collapse in some other way, it would leave Activision Blizzard in a tough spot. Earlier this week, the company reported weak sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard, while Blizzard reported that Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 were running behind schedule and no early release date is in-sight. 

But, if the deal goes through then CEO Bobby Kotick will get a golden parachute exit from the company with a payout of more than $15 million in bonus, not including his gains from sales of personally owned stocks to Microsoft.

BMOC 2022 Online Qualifiers Round 1 Results Out: 256 Teams Move Ahead

BGMI Esports has released the results of BMOC 2022 Online Qualifiers Round One where a total of 512 teams were segregated into groups and top eight from each group made it to the next stage.

The second stage of BMOC 2022 has already started and entire result table was updated on the BGMI Esports website very recently. Players and fans can check on their teams by visiting the following website:

BMOC 2022 is the first tournament in BGMI Esports season 2022 and this is an open-for-all event where players across India registered and played in the qualifiers. The top 512 teams participated in the first stage and now, only half of them made it to the next round.

After the conclusion of first round, the second round will run for four days with each team playing a total of five matches. At the end, only top four teams from each group will make it to the third round.

The final stage of BMOC will be an interesting one with 32 invited teams mixing up with the qualified ones and they will battle it out to secure a slot in the next phase of tournament called BMPS 2022.

It is worthy to note that BGMI esports recently disqualified 41 teams for violating multiple rules and hence, the point tables will change and teams ranked close to the top eight spot might make it to the second round.

BGMI Esports disqualifies 41 teams from BMOC after violation of multiple rules

The organizers of first big BGMI esports event called Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge 2022 has released a long list of teams that have violated multiple sections of BMOC rulebook, ultimately leading to a disqualification.

BMOC 2022 is an open-for-all event where teams were meant to register online and the top 512 teams qualified for the four online rounds. After the conclusion of first round, BGMI esports has announced that 41 teams are disqualified from the tournament for violating sections 2.1.5, 3.2 and 6.2.4.

The list of teams that were banned from BMOC 2022 are as follows:

The teams did not adhere to some sections of BMOC 2022 rulebook as well as Code of Conduct. The cited sections are as follows:

  • Section 2.1.5: Single Team Exclusivity. A Team Member or coach is only allowed to compete for the one team that they have an agreement with. A team member or coach will not be allowed to compete for more than one team simultaneously and therefore cannot be listed on the roster of more than one team.
  • Section 3.2: Submission of the Roster and Team Registration. Before the start of any Official Competition, each Team must register its roster using the tools provided by KRAFTON or Tournament Organizer. Once the registration period ends, the roster will be locked. Substitutions or roster changes may be allowed only in exigent circumstances per the sole discretion of KRAFTON and Tournament Organizer. The use of unapproved players or substitutes is strictly prohibited.
  • Section 6.2.4: Ringing. Playing under another player’s account or Gamer Tag, or soliciting or inducing someone else to play a under another player’s account or Gamer Tag, is prohibited.

As it is clearly evident, players have not adhered to the team exclusivity clause which ultimately lead to ringing and other activities. Players that were not registered at first were seen playing in the tournament and hence, the entire team was disqualified from the main event.

Valorant Patch 4.08 Nerfs Jett, Sova, Reduces Competitive Penalty in 5-Stack, and More

The highly anticipated Valorant Episode 4 Act 3 update is here, and it has brought a number of changes to the competitive shooter that can potentially change the current meta in the professional scene.

These changes include not only the introduction of the new Initiator, Fade, but also some significant nerfs to Jett and Sova, alongside a few changes to Neon.

Valorant patch 4.08 will be decreasing Jett’s maneuverability on the battlefield quite a bit, as she’ll only have a 12-second window to use her dash once she decides to activate the ability.

Here are the official Jett changes in the next Valorant update as confirmed by the developers:

Tailwind

  • On pressing the ability key, after a short delay Jett activates a 12 second window where she is empowered to immediately dash on next button press.
  • Her Tailwind charge is lost whether she Dash’s or the window expire, but can still be regained with two kills.

“With this update, we want to bring Jett back into that core loop by asking her to call her shots and then engage with a window of dash power to make those trademark explosive plays,” the devs said in a statement. “This should create clear signals for other players to consider and understand that Jett made a deliberate call. Jett’s new dash will require an adjustment for players but we feel this is the best solution to balance maintaining Jett’s identity while increasing game health.”

Sova is undoubtedly the worst sufferer of patch 4.08 as his overall impact on the battlefield has been significantly reduced through some heavy nerfs to his Shock Bolt and Owl Drone.

Here are all the nerfs to Sova coming with the 4.08 update:

Owl Drone

  • Duration reduced 10s >>> 7s
  • Health reduced 125 >>> 100
  • Number of reveal pings reduced 3 >>> 2
  • Initial delay before first ping reveals increased 1.2s >>> 1.6s (Delay between the first and second ping remains 1.2s)

Shock Dart

  • Max Damage decreased 90 >>> 75
  • Radial damage has been scaled in accordance with new max damage.

Neon, on the other hand, has been buffed and nerfed simultaneously in the Episode 4 Act 3 update. Here are the changes to Neon that patch 4.08 will bring to the shooter:

General

  • Battery energy received upon killing an enemy increased 25%>>>100%

High Gear

  • Slide cannot be cast during equip delay
  • Velocity restriction removed
  • Neon can now slide sideways and forward, and only requires that she is moving

Energy drain increased 6.7/s>>>10/s

Fast Lane

  • Wall damage removed

Valorant 4.08 also reduces the penalties on 5-stacking in competitive games. However, Immortals and Radiants will still receive 25-75% penalties when queuing in a pre-made lobby. Here are the changes to competitive matchmaking in the Valorant 4.08 update:

If EVERYONE in your party is Iron–Diamond 2:

  • No RR penalty if within normal grouping
  • 25% RR penalty for all players if any player falls outside of normal grouping

If ANYONE in your party is Diamond 3–Immortal 3 (but no one in your party is Radiant):

  • 25% RR penalty for all players

If ANYONE in your party is Radiant:

  • 75% RR penalty for all players
  • Tuned matchmaking to reduce wait time for 5-stacks
