NetEase Delays Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal China launch

0

Just 3 days before its official release in China, the infamous Diablo Immortal has been delayed indefinitely by NetEase.

The Internet and gaming giant NetEase was responsible for the release of the Chinese version of Diablo Immortal but the company has now come out and announced that the game will be delayed for an indefinite time until they work on improving the game-play experience and conduct “multiple optimization adjustments”.

The move to announce the delay comes right after Diablo Immortal’s official Weibo account was banned on Sunday from making new posts. While announcing the delay, NetEase didn’t address the recent social media ban and it still remains a mystery what triggered the instant response from the developer.

Diablo Immortal was recently released worldwide on multiple platforms. Since its release, the game has gathered very negative press and reviews for its predatory microtransactions. The game is now the worst-rated Blizzard title ever and its user rating at Metacritic sits at just 0.3.

While the game had a good critic rating for its gameplay and combat, almost every critic ripped Blizzard apart for the inclusion of predatory microtransactions which puts many mobile games to shame.

For its China release, Activision Blizzard had signed a deal with NetEase. The game’s launch was closely watched by many in China as the Diablo franchise focuses on slaying demons and witches — themes that are seen to contradict Chinese regulators’ dislike of games’ gore and violence. The game already had record pre-registration with more than 15 million users signing up to play the game until last week.

After the announcement of the delay, NetEase stock opened with negative sentiment and by the end of the day, the stock had slid more than 9% to record lows.

Destiny 2 Cheat Maker To Pay $13.5 Million To Bungie For Copyright Infringement

0

The famous Bungie vs Cheat Maker lawsuit which was filed in August last year has finally come to a conclusion. After going to court almost a year ago, the lawsuit against the cheat provider Elite Boss Tech has concluded in favor of the Destiny 2 developer.

First reported by TorrentFreak, both Bungie and Elite Boss Tech have come to an agreement where the cheat provider will pay Bungie $13.5 million in fines. As reported before, the cheat software was downloaded 6,765 times over its short lifetime before Bungie filed for a DMCA takedown, so in theory, Elite Boss Tech is going to pay $2000 per download of the cheat software.

“Game developer Bungie and Elite Boss Tech, a creator of cheating software for the popular Destiny 2 game, have reached an agreement to end a copyright infringement lawsuit. The stipulated consent judgment, in which Elite Boss Tech admits thousands of violations of the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provisions, includes a permanent injunction and statutory damages of $13.5 million.” – TorrentFreak

It is believed that an agreement was reached only because the costly lawsuit has dragged on for far too long for the cash-strapped defendant — Elite Boss Tech.

Along with the $13.5 million the court also permanently banned the cheat provider, including named defendants and several anonymous creators and providers of cheats from further creation or distribution of any software that infringes on intellectual property belonging to Bungie.

In its February status report, Bungie had stressed that the company is very serious about its IPs and said that Destiny 2’s commercial viability depends on the integrity of its gameplay and the positive experiences of its players. Bungie concluded the report by saying that they are confident in winning the lawsuit which will set an example for any future IP infringements.

GodLike Esports responds to poaching allegations made by TSM

GodLike Esports was recently facing slander from a large part of BGMI fan base as TSM alleged them of player poaching and recruiting TSM’s ex-IGL, Shadow, to their own roster without approaching TSM in a standard manner.

GodLike has now responded to these allegations and mentioned that Shadow was acquired after his contract was terminated. The organisation is also set to file multiple lawsuits against the people that are releasing private chats and making defamatory statements against GodLike.

TSM and GodLike were caught in a controversy a few days ago when the latter announced that BGMI pro, Shadow, has joined them. TSM had mentioned that Shadow did not leave the organization on legal grounds and that he was still “contracted to TSM.”

Shadow made a revelation of his own in a social media post where he stated that TSM was “harassing, exploiting and threatening” him in some ways. He had asked for the support of his fans and soon afterwards, he joined GodLike Esports.

GodLike did not immediately respond to these allegations and now, they have released a comprehensive statement explaining the matter of Shadow’s acquirement in the organization as well as their stance on facing constant defamation on the social media. The issued statement is as follows:

There is constant slandering against GodLike in the media by an organisation with whom Shadow was associated with. The controversy is being created despite there being none. Shadow legally terminated his contract by sending a termination letter, post which he approached GodLike. We, at GodLike, followed all the legal and ethical procedures while engaging with Shadow, as he was not bound by any agreement in existence. However, Shadow’s erstwhile organisation started defaming Shadow as well as GodLike by releasing his personal chats on social media platforms, which is a violation of privacy and punishable under Indian law. If his erstwhile organisation had any legal ground then we fail to understand why they are defaming and slandering Shadow and GodLike on social media platforms rather than exercising their legal rights. They know they are wrong but are harassing us by creating a hype on social media platforms. Due to constant slandering on media portals and news channels, we are constrained to make this statement that we are in the process of filing a criminal as well as civil case against the people who are releasing private chats and making defamatory statements against GodLike and also against one of the players who is openly abusing Shadow and GodLike on social media platforms. We have never acted below our dignity and never released any personal chats and have never cried foul on social media platforms or harassed anyone we believe in certain ethics. However, there are certain vested elements who trying to pollute the Indian gaming scenario by targeting the players, Indian organisations and the brands endorsed by them. As Indians, we would now definitely like to teach such elements some Indian ethics and law.

– Kronten Gaming, Owner, GodLike Esports

According to this statement, Shadow had legally terminated his contract by sending a termination letter to TSM after which he approached GodLike Esports. Shadow was acquired by GodLike by following all the legal and ethical procedures but TSM then started defaming Shadow and GodLike by releasing his personal chats on social media platforms, which is a violation of privacy and punishable under Indian law.

GodLike has also questioned TSM’s stance of slandering them on social media rather than taking a legal recourse to address this contractual issue. GodLike has also said that TSM is wrong and they “harassing us by creating a hype on social media.”

A criminal as well as civil case will be filed by GodLike against the people who are releasing private chats and making defamatory statements against GodLike and also against one of the players who is openly abusing Shadow and GodLike on social media platforms.

GodLike finished the statement by mentioning that the organisation does not take any threats lightly and they will be teaching Indian laws and ethics to certain “elements”, referring to TSM.

BGMI Lite to be released soon for the players? Know the expected date

Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly known as BGMI was launched in July 2021 by Krafton. BGMI is the Indian version of the famous battle royale game named “PUBG Mobile” which was banned by the Indian Government last year. All versions of “PUBG Mobile” which had a connection with Tencent Games were removed from Google Play Store and App Store.

As a result, PUBG Mobile Lite also got banned along with the main version of the game. PUBG Mobile Lite was created for lower-middle range Android devices. It practically offered the same gaming experience but takes much less space in the device. Thus making it the most loved game for gamers having low-end devices.

Soon, Krafton was back with the Indian version of PUBG Mobile but the lite of the game is still in the findings for the majority of the players. Gamers are asking for the BGMI Lite version on various platforms. But no major information has been provided by the developers of the game.

Kraton has not acknowledged any update about the development of the BGMI Lite. As they are completely focused on improving the main version of the game for a better gaming experience. Besides, the increasing craze of the BGMI Esports has kept their hand full to rather focus on the development of BGMI Lite.

As of June 2022, there is no update on the release date of BGMI Lite. While BGMI requires high-end devices to enjoy a seamless gaming experience which the majority of gaming enthusiasts cannot afford. The launch of BGMI Lite is the hour of the need for players with low-end devices.

When can we expect the release of BGMI Lite?

With the Indian esports reaching its peak with each day. Krafton’s major focus is on the development of the Indian esports ecosystem and gaming experience. Major esports leagues such as BGIS and BMPS are been held for semi and pro players. Hence, we could not expect the release of BGMI Lite in 2022.

Valorant to add Dust 2?

Dust 2 is one of the oldest and most legendary maps in tactical FPS,  the Morroco-based successor to Dust. Dust 2 was launched in March 2001 for Counter-Strike and has since been an integral part of the Counter-Strike franchise, with every CS edition introducing its take on Dust 2.

Dust 2 is the go-to map for every filthy casual, so much so that it has a separate queue in CS: GO Deathmatch.

Valorant, the new kid in town, would want to create a map as iconic as Dust 2. A map etched in the hearts and minds of people, and Riot would like something similar for the maps they create for Valorant.

One such map is Pearl, the latest edition to the Valorant map pool. Many people feel the new map is CSGO-esque, which feels very similar to many CSGO maps.

And just to add fuel to the fire, our in-house “go-to source for trustworthy and accurate VALORANT news.” The Valorant Times yesterday tweeted the following:

The Valorant times is a fun satirical Twitter handle to poke fun at the community or Riot’s Game. The latest tweet was something similar, intended to comment on how the latest Valorant map “Pearl” is CSGO-esque and reminds people of various other CS: GO maps.

The screenshots posted by the Valorant times seem like a legit map, and it almost baited a lot of Valorant Community to find out if Riot is adding Dust 2 as the new map. And why not, The map is legendary, and if Riot decides to work something out with Valve, they can add Dust 2 to Valorant.

The tweet is just a clickbait, though, with the Screenshots from a video posted by DMITRY Senichkin of how Dust 2 would look like in Valorant. The video is six minutes long and shows the whole Dust 2 as a Valorant Map with doors, windows, spawns, and bomb sites redesigned for Valorant. You can check the entire video here.

The idea of Dust 2 in valorant is entertaining, though, But with Riot’s Tact FPS still young, I am sure there’d be maps that’d reach the status CSGO’s D2 did and would be as legendary as Dust 2 is.

With the latest map Pearl following the traditional design, it might even be Riot’s answer to the legend of Dust 2. For now, we have to enjoy Dust 2 in CSGO and Valorant separately.
