Northeption Upset ZETA Division to Qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen

Valorant Champions Tour Japan Challengers concluded today with Northeption as the new champions of Japan. Northeption defeated the defending champions Zeta Division to claim the VCT Master Copenhagen slot.

Northeption started their VCT Japan Challengers journey by playing the Week 1 open qualifier, where they managed to dominate their group to qualify for the main event.

In the VCT Japan Challengers Week 1 Main Event, Northeption took on Crazy Racoons and FAV gaming, beating both the teams with relative ease to qualify for the VCT Japan Challengers Playoffs.

As the top eight teams in the region, Northeption started their playoff journey by taking on Jadeite. On the first map of their playoff journey, Northeption lost to Jadeite 6-13 on their map pick. But they maintained their calm to reverse sweep Jadeite and continue their playoff journey.

Facing Crazy Racoons again in the upper semifinals, Northeption repeated their feat to win the game 2-1 again after the week one main stage.

Facing the defending champions Zeta division, Northeption faltered and lost to Zeta division 0-2, falling into the lower brackets.

In the lower brackets, they faced Crazy Racoons again, and this time around easily beat Crazy Racoons 2-0, with scores 13-6 and 13-9, to reach the Grand finals against Zeta Division with a chance of revenge.

The VCT Japan Challengers Grand Finals started with Northeption attacking Zeta’s map pick of Icebox. They started strong but only managed to get five rounds in the first half.

In the second half, Zeta seemed to have gained momentum reaching eleven rounds whilst Northeption was still on ten. But Northeption maintained composure and closed out the map 13-11.

On Northeption’s Haven, Zeta managed to decimate Norteption’s defence to win the half 8-4 to win the game 13-4 later. This set Northeption back mentally, but they came back stronger on Zeta’s map pick of fracture defeating Zeta 13-4 after winning ten attack rounds in the first half.

With a 2-1 lead in the match, Northeption started the fourth map Ascent wanting to close the game before Zeta could recover. Starting on Attack, Northeption managed to slip through Zeta Division’s defence, often winning the half 7-5.

Now on defence, Northeption put forward an impenetrable fortress, and Zeta failed to find an answer to the question Northeption asked and lost the map 7-13.

Winning the third map, Northeption closed the series 3-1 and defeated the defending champions to qualify for the VCT Masters Copenhagen. This would be their first International appearance, and they would try to impress the world similar to what Zeta did in Reykjavik.

Phoenix to be Buffed in the Upcoming Valorant Patch 5.01

0

With Valorant Patch 5.0 giving us the new map, the PBE was released for Patch 5.1. The upcoming patch is expected to release in two weeks. Amongst other changes, Major buffs are coming to Phoenix, Kay/O and Yoru due to their dropping win rates in Valorant Competitive.

Phoenix was out of the first five agents introduced in the game with the beta release. The agent had great pick rates until other agents were introduced, but as the game progressed, the pick rate of Phoenix dropped considerably.

The agent is obsolete in the professional scene, with the agent only picked a handful of times in the casual play.

Phoenix as an agent isn’t bad. His kit with Blaze, Curveball, Hot Hands, and Run it Back is a well-rounded kit but seems lacklustre.

The flash Curveball is easy to dodge and has to be used carefully. Blaze and Hot hands don’t impact enough, while The Ultimate, Run It Back seems terrific with a team but usually does not gather much value.

Phoenix Valorant Buff

In the upcoming patches, Phoenix’s abilities will be buffed.

With a faster flash and less equip time on Blaze, Phoenix would now be better at entering the site solo. With Run it back buffed, Phoenix ultimate now reduces the risks of using it.

Now even if a phoenix is caught off-guard, he can still fight back after respawning. Especially on Pearl, the latest map, with the number of corners, Phoenix’s curveball and blaze might work great.

Along with Phoenix, buffs for Yoru and Kay/O are being tested. Kay/O is a permanent pick in professional Valorant, but he doesn’t see much action in Casual play. The buffs are to promote the use of Kay/O and Yoru in casual play.

For Kay/O,

The buffs would increase the use of his Kay/O, as the fragment would now deal damage through the wall.

While for Yoru,

The buff to the Dimensional Drift would encourage more ridiculous plays with less equip time. The ability to flash inside the Dimensional Drift makes Yoru’s ULT much more viable than earlier.

Along with the buffs, there have been voice line addition to Phoenix and Killjoy

The added voice lines might be related to the Omega Earth and would add more to the Valorant lore. Hints for the next agent, which most likely would be a controller, can also be expected in upcoming patches. Codenamed Mage, the next agent, is likely from Omega Earth, and it would be interesting to see how it plays out.

New Valorant Agent: Agent 21 Codename Leaked by Dataminers

0

It has only been a few days since Valorant received its newest update. The Episode 5 Act 1 update, which was introduced to the live servers on June 22nd brought with it the new map Pearl alongside a bunch of other additions to the competitive shooter.

While Valorant players are still busy exploring the new map, it seems like dataminers have already managed to dig up contents of an upcoming Valorant update.

Popular Valorant dataminer and Twitter user ‘ValorLeaks’ has recently shared some details about the next Valorant Agent through a Tweet on June 24th, and fans of the title are trying to come up with all sorts of speculations involving the 21st Valorant agent.

Valorant Agent 21 Codename Leaked by Dataminers

ValorLeaks has shared the codename of the upcoming Valorant Agent through his recent Tweet.

As leaked by the dataminer, Valorant Agent 21 has been codenamed ‘Mage’.

While not much else is currently known about the new Valorant update, it’s fairly certain that Agent 21 will be a Controller. This is due to the fact that Astra was the last Controller who was added to the game and that was way back in March 2, 2021.

Since then, the game has received Agents for all roles but for Controllers. The current roster of Controllers in Valorant consist of Brimstone, Omen, Viper, and Astra.

Valorant Agent 21 Release Date

The exact release date of Valorant Agent 21 hasn’t been revealed by the developers as of yet. However, fans of the title can expect the new Valorant Agent to arrive alongside the upcoming Episode 5 Act 2 update.

Valorant Episode 5 Act 2 update is scheduled to arrive around August 24th, 2022.

XSET Qualifies for Their First International Valorant Event

In the Lower Bracket Finals for Valorant Champions Tour NA Challengers, XSET beat Faze Clan in a Best-of-five match to qualify for their first international event. XSET, with this victory, are now in the grand finals of VCT NA Challengers and would be the second NA representative at VCT Masters Copenhagen.

XSET, led by their IGL Dephh, has been a constant force in the NA Valorant Scene and has been a solid top-five NA team. With Cloud9 failing to make it to the group stage, XSET managed to maintain their performance to improve and gradually make their mark.

XSET finished their group as the first seed with a 4-1 record coming into the playoffs. They started strong in the playoffs when they defeated 100 Thieves 2-0 with scores 13-10 and 13-4. In the upper finals, they faced the no. 1 team in the world, Optic Gaming, and despite taking Optic’s map pick, they couldn’t close out the game and lost 1-3 to Optic.

After the loss, They faced Faze in the Lower bracket finals, who themselves have had a terrific tournament run where despite the loss in the opening match, they beat Luminosity, 100 Thieves and NRG to make it to the Lower Bracket Finals.

The BO5 started with XSET’s split. XSET started strong, winning the first half of the map 7-5. Faze’s defence stayed unshaken, and they managed to run away with XSET’s pick 13-11.

Faze’s Breeze seemed very balanced, where both teams won six rounds apiece in the first half. But XSET completely dominated Faze’s defence in the second half to win the map 13-10.

With the score tied at 1-1, On Icebox, XSET started pretty strong, where they won the first half with ease with a scoreline of 9-3 but Faze Clan managed to return the favour winning the second half 9-3, thus tying the map in regulation. In Overtime, both teams exchanged two rounds, but eventually, XSET edged out Faze clan to win the map 16-14.

The fourth map started with an XSET map-up and crushed Faze’s attack in the first half, winning the half 9-3. Faze could not repeat the feat on their defence and fell to XSET 4-13 losing the game 1-3.

XSET, with this victory, will finally make their international debut at VCT Masters Copenhagen. Along with Optic Gaming, the chances of NA at VCT Masters seem high.

Today, XSET would face Optic Gaming in the grand finals of VCT NA Challengers. The winner of the match would receive $50K and an advantage at Masters Copenhagen.

Xerxia, the runner-up of the last VCT APAC Challengers, managed to repeat their feat and qualify for the VCT Masters second time in a row by defeating Team Secret at Valorant Champions Tour APAC Challengers.

The Thai Xerxia has been a constant name on the International scene for the longest time. In the current APAC stage, Xerxia soared through their group stage, winning both the games 2-0.

But the playoff run started slowly, where they lost to the Filipino Team Secret in the opening match.

In the lower bracket, they showed resilience and beat BOOM and BLEED in hard-fought games. While facing ONIC G to qualify for the lower final, Xerxia managed to do quick work of ONIC G, beating them 2-0.

In the lower finals, they faced Team Secret with a chance to take revenge for the opening match. The match started on Xerxia’s Haven. With Team Secret on the attack, Xerxia could not contain Team Secret, and they lost the half 3-9. Team Secret continued their domination and won the game 13-3.

Now on the back foot, Xerxia played Team Secret’s map pick Ascent and, despite a strong start, only managed to get one more round over Team Secret, closing the half 7-5.

The Second half started Xerxia’s way, and they quickly managed to find the match point. Team Secret displayed resistance, but Xerxia managed to win the map 13-10 forcing the decider.

On Icebox, Xerxia’s attack completely broke Team Secret’s defense, winning the first half 8-4. They managed to minimize Team Secret’s damage in the second half, winning the map 13-8 to win the game 2-1, completing their revenge.

Paper Rex Valorant Qualifies for VCT Masters Copenhagen

Earlier today, at the Valorant Champions Tour APAC Challengers, the MY/SG #1 Paper Rex overhauled Team Secret to qualify for the VCT Masters Copenhagen. While in the Lower Round 3 saw Xerxia Esports made to Lower Final, defeating ONIC G and Bleed.

The third day of VCT APAC Challengers started with the Indonesian top seed taking on the second seed Alter Ego.

The match started on ONIC G’s Haven, where ONIC G had a rough start on offense but managed to completely shut down Alter Ego’s attack to win their map pick 13-8. Alter  Ego, with a vengeance, completely dominated their map pick of Fracture, winning the map 13-4, forcing a decider map.

The Decider Ascent started well for ONIC G, where they put on a strong fortress on Ascent, winning the first half 8-4. Alter Ego on defense could not do the same, losing the game 6-13. With this, ONIC G eliminated Alter Ego and stayed in the tournament.

Thai #1 Xerxia took on MY/SG #2 Bleed in the day’s second game. Bleed started the first half on Haven with a disadvantage after losing the half 4-8, But the Bleed managed to overwhelm Xerxia’s defense to comeback from 4-8 to win the game 13-11.

On the second map of Fracture, Xerxia’s pick. Xerxia dominated Bleed by letting them only win five rounds to win the map 13-5, forcing the third map.

On Icebox, The first half was a battle of tooth and nail, with both teams winning six rounds each. In the second half, with Xerxia on attack seemed to falter, letting Bleed reach to map and match point in the 21st round.

But Xerxia displayed absolute resilience, winning five rounds in a row to win the map 14-12 and the game 2-1, eliminating Bleed.

The third and the match for the slot in VCT Masters Copenhagen, the undefeated MY/SG #1 Paper Rex, took on Filipino#1 Team Secret. The game started on Team Secret’s map pick of Ascent, where despite the constant tussle, Paper Rex came on top with a slight edge, winning the first half 7-5.

On defense, Paper Rex completely shut down all the attempts by Team Secret to attack, eventually winning the first map 13-7.

In the second map, Bind, Spearheaded by the attacking duo of f0rsakeN and Jinggg, the APAC super team completely decimated the Team Secret defense to win the first half 10-2.

On defense, Paper Rex attacked and overwhelmed Team Secret to close out the second map 13-2, winning the match 2-0 to become the first APAC representative at VCT Masters Copenhagen.

This would be Paper Rex’s second international appearance, and they would surely make another impressive run in the tournament.

The finals game of the day saw Xerxia taking on ONIC G for the spot in the Lower bracket finals. On ONIC G’s map pick of breeze, Xerxia found success attacking and won the first half 8-4.

Despite a shaky start to the second start, Xerxia managed to reset themselves to win four rounds in a row to win the map 13-8.

On Icebox, Xerxia’s attack penetrated ONIC G’s defense constantly. ONIC G failed to find any answer to them losing the first half of the map 1-11. The second half started well for ONIC G, but the round deficit bit them when they lost to Xerxia 5-13.

With this, Xerxia won the game 2-0 and would now face Team Secret tomorrow in the Lower Bracket Finals for the second APAC slot in VCT Masters Berlin.
