The Chinese gaming giant is again focusing on acquiring western game studios wholely after a slowdown at home

As per a new report by Reuters, the Chinese Gaming Giant — Tencent is refocusing to acquire International gaming companies outright after the business of the gaming conglomerate slowed down significantly at home.

Tencent is bar far the largest video gaming company by revenue and has invested in over 800 companies worldwide which includes Riot (100%), Epic Games (40%), Ubisoft (5%), Activision-Blizzard (5%), Grinding Gear Games (80%), Supercell (84%), and many more.

As per sources of Reuters, the company is again “aggressively seeking” to own controlling or majority stakes in gaming companies, “notably in Europe”. The sudden shift in its strategy comes after the company came under China’s regulatory lens for its business practices and monopoly at home. During its August earnings call, Tencent confirmed its plans to remain active in acquiring game studios overseas.

“In terms of the game business, our strategy is … to focus on developing our capabilities, especially in the international market. We will continue to be very active in terms of acquiring new game studios outside China,” said Tencent during its earnings call in August.

Report: PlayStation & Google in Talks With EU Regulators Over Microsoft’s Activision-Blizzard Acquisition Plans

PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan has publicly shown his concerns over the future of the Call Of Duty series after the Activision-Blizzard and Microsoft deal was announced

Jim Ryan, PlayStation Boss and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment has reportedly flown to Brussels last month on September 8th to voice his concerns to the European Union headquarters over Microsoft’s $68.7 Billion Activision Blizzard acquisition deal

“By giving Microsoft control of Activision games like Call of Duty, this deal would have major negative implications for gamers and the future of the gaming industry,” Ryan claimed.

“We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality gaming experience, and we appreciate the CMA’s focus on protecting gamers.”

Since the announcement of the deal, Sony has been quite vocal about its displeasure with the deal which will effectively bind Sony to Microsoft’s mercy over future Call Of Duty game releases on PlayStation.

Sony alleges that Microsoft will always have an upper hand in future deals relating to the Call Of Duty Series – which is regularly PlayStation’s annual best-seller – after the current deal ends.

The current Call of Duty deal between Sony and Activision covers the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, and an unannounced Black Ops game by developer Treyarch, which may not arrive until 2024.

While Phil Spencer, Xbox Boss and CEO of Microsoft Gaming has repeatedly committed to making Call of Duty available on PlayStation for “several more years” after Sony’s current marketing deal with Activision expires. Jim Ryan has reportedly said that commitment is inadequate and have major negative implications on cross-platform series.

In a filing on Friday 30th September, the European competition watchdog confirmed a provisional deadline of November 8 for the “phase 1” review to clear the $68.7 billion deal or demand for a more detailed investigation in “phase 2” review.

5 Best Free Agents to Sign In FIFA 23’s Career Mode

0

Career Mode is FIFA’s most popular offline mode, and with FIFA 23 now available, gamers will rush to it to begin their management journey.

Both the Player and Manager career paths in Career Mode have received a plethora of new features and enhancements thanks to EA Sports’ recent updates. Player Career mode has dynamic personality types and off-field activities, but most fans prefer Manager.

EA Sports’ changes to FIFA 23’s Career Mode will draw new players, therefore it’s crucial for players to know the best purchases and acquisitions to make. In FIFA 23’s Career Mode, any team that signs one of these free agents will immediately benefit from their presence.

  • Juan Mata

Juan Mata provides just what each team in world football needs: a seasoned veteran who can contribute significantly to the team’s success. The Spanish maestro has played with Didier Drogba, Xavi, Iniesta, and Wayne Rooney.

Juan Mata’s age may be slowing him down, but he can still control the midfield, orchestrate attacks, and burst through any defense with his passes. Even if he is just on the team for a single season, his extensive list of accolades and awards guarantees that he will bring a high level of expertise and experience to the position.

  • Jason Denayer

Despite the fact that Jason Denayer is not particularly well known among the general public, he has been one of the most consistent performances in Ligue 1. The 27-year-old Belgian defender is a key member of Lyon’s defense and can help your FIFA 23 Career Mode save.

  • Santiago Arias

Santiago Arias is an excellent choice for managers in FIFA 23 who are interested in adding a full-back to their squad in order to strengthen their team. The right defender who formerly played for Atletico Madrid possesses all of the necessary qualities to be successful in the world of football. Due to injury, he missed much of the previous season and his contract was not renewed. But the 30-year-old has many more years remaining.

  • Fabian Delph

When we talk about versatility, we should mention that Fabian Delph is a free agent in the FIFA 23 Career mode. The English veteran has played numerous roles for several Premier League teams. His ratings have dropped in recent games, but he’s still a valuable player.

Managers can use Delph in numerous defensive positions and expect consistent play. He’ll add depth to the club’s roster and be a rotational player for FIFA 23.

  • Adel Taraabt

Adel Taraabt’s tenure with QPR will be remembered fondly by football enthusiasts. The nimble midfielder dribbled past opponents and set up goals for himself and his teammates. As of right now, his contract with Benfica has officially run out, which means that the 33-year-old maestro will be a free agent in the Career mode of FIFA 23.

The Moroccan may not have many years left, but he could be a good buy for managers seeking a creative midfielder.

MrBeast Says India Is His Second Biggest Fanbase

0

Popular Youtuber Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast has claimed that India is the second largest country among its viewers falling only behind the USA.

This conclusion of his is largely derived from his YouTube audience. Having crossed the 100 Million subscribers mark just a few months ago. He is clearly one of the most followed social media giants.

MrBeasts content can be easily consumed by large demography as well as geography, thus racking up a large number of potential viewers for every video of his. It is safe to say that only a handful of people on YouTube are more influential than him. For someone like him to acknowledge the potential of the Indian audience speaks for itself.

“India, definitely. Our Indian audience is just absurd. So, it’s like, our audience is America, then India, and then, I think UK, Canada, then, like, what is it? Philippines, right?” he said when asked about fans from outside his vicinity.

“YouTube gets more views per month from India than they do in America. Like, India is YouTube’s largest audience.”

“But it’s like there’s 1.3 billion people in India, there’s only 300 million in America, so, like, even if everyone in America watched 10 videos a day, if only half the people in India watched like seven videos, they’d still get more views”

MrBeast has labeled India to be a “juggernaut” and did emphasize that their large population is a big part of why they are able to dominate as an audience in large. For his Indian audience, MrBeast has filed a video in India which is supposed to go up soon!

Google to shut down Stadia in 2023

0

Google has made public its intention to terminate the Stadia cloud gaming service and provide refunds to customers.

When it first launched in November 2019, Stadia was marketed as a “Netflix for games,” enabling users to stream video games over the internet without buying a gaming device.

However, the service will be discontinued on January 18th, 2023 because it has failed to gain “traction” among gamers.

Players who have already purchased Google’s Stadia controller, in addition to any games or add-on content, are eligible to receive a refund from the company. It stated that it anticipates all of those refunds would be processed by the middle of January.

In a post on the Stadia blog, Vice President and General Manager Phil Harrison stated, “A few years ago, we also launched a consumer gaming service, Stadia.

“And while Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected so we’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service.”

Vice President and General Manager Phil Harrison

Google is brutal at killing off failing products; the website Killed by Google has a huge list of them.  2019 saw the launch of Stadia, which was clearly Google’s attempt to get into the lucrative gaming industry and was met with a great deal of unrest.

Stadia was more than just a service for streaming video games; it also came with its own specialized hardware.

The announcement, which was undoubtedly the beginning of the end for the corporation, was made in February of 2021. It closed its in-house studios and announced it would provide Stadia as a platform for others to expand on. Now, almost exactly two years to the date that that announcement was made, Stadia will be turned off permanently.

But competing with the industry titans is difficult, especially when you consider yourself to be a giant in your own way. Microsoft and Sony have lucrative arrangements with the world’s major game publishers, making it impossible to repeat Xbox and PlayStation’s success.

Phil Harrison’s statement that Stadia has not “gained the traction” that Google anticipated probably does not come as a major surprise to most people.
