Valorant Challengers EMEA: Promotion & Relegation System Explained

Stage One of Valorant Champions Tour 2024 is well underway, and some of the best teams from throughout the region are battling it out for a shot at the upcoming Masters Shanghai. With the current VCT season going on in full swing, Riot Games has revealed the finer details of the promotion and relegation system of Valorant Challengers EMEA.

Valorant Challengers EMEA Promotion & Relegation System: What You Need To Know

In a recent blog post, Riot Games has disclosed how the promotion and relegation system of Valorant Challengers EMEA will work.

The EMEA promotion tournament is scheduled to take place from May 4th to May 7th, and will consist of the following teams:

  • The top four Premier teams for their respective zones (Except the IBIT, which will send the top four teams from Spain, Italy, and Portugal).
  • Two relegated teams from the respective Challengers League.
  • Either the top four teams from the region’s VALORANT Regional Circuit (VRC) or the winning team from the VRC (Regions with no VRC will only include the top four Premier teams alongside the two relegated teams)

Format

The first stage of the promotion and relegation tournament will feature a single-elimination bracket. If there are four VRC teams in the tournament, then the top four Premier teams and the VRC teams will be a part of this bracket. Among them, only one Premier team and one VRC team will make it to the second stage.

The second stage will follow a double-elimination bracket, with the winning Premier team and the winning VRC team taking on the relegated teams in best-of-three games. The top two teams in the second stage will make their way to VALORANT Challengers League Split 2.

In the scenario where five teams are in contention—four from the Premier League and one from the VRC— the Premier-qualified teams will engage in a best-of-three single elimination bracket, while the lone representative from the VRC league earns automatic seeding into the GSL stage.
