The Axe is a melee weapon in Silent Hill Townfall that kills standard enemies in one hit and never breaks. You cannot find it on a first playthrough. It unlocks after you finish the game once, and it only appears once you start New Game Plus.
There are two places to pick it up. This guide covers the unlock requirement, both Axe locations, how it compares to the other weapons in St. Amelia, and what to keep in mind if you are using it during an endings run.

How to unlock the Axe in Silent Hill Townfall
The only requirement is a completed save. Your ending does not matter. Justice, Forever and Abandoned all unlock the Axe.
Most players see the Abandoned ending first. The game gives it when your kill count is higher than your Discoveries, and that is what usually happens on a blind run.
After the credits, a screen tells you the Axe is unlocked. It does not go straight into your inventory, though. You have to go and collect it in the world.
- Finish Silent Hill Townfall once.
- Go back to the main menu and select New Game +.
- Start the new run. The first Axe is available within minutes, during Part 1: Arrival.
If you are new to the idea of carrying progress into a second run, the New Game Plus mode works here much like it does in other survival horror games: you replay the story with extra unlocks available.
Axe location 1: Shore Wynd garage (Part 1: Arrival)
This is the fastest way to get the Axe.
- From the starting area, head to St. Amelia’s Shorefront District (South).
- Open your map and go to Shore Wynd.
- Go through the white gate.
- Look for the garage door on your right, on the east side of Shore Wynd.
- The door is usually open. If it is closed, walk up to it and use the prompt to open it.
- Inside, the room is lit red. The Axe sits on a small table under the light, with a garden gnome next to it.
Picking it up unlocks the Here’s Simon trophy.
This garage has a second use. Once you complete the Sci-Fi ending, a green-lit room opens up in the same spot with a futuristic sidearm inside. Axe location 2: next to Mister Stewart’s house (Part 2: Zoe)
If you skipped the garage, a second Axe appears later in the same New Game Plus run.
- Continue the story until you take control of Zoe.
- Make your way to Mister Stewart’s house.
- Go to the house directly to its right.
- Enter the back garden. The Axe is leaning against a wooden shed near the fence.
This one is worth grabbing even if you already have the first. Zoe does not get access to a gun, so the Axe is her strongest option in combat. Both Axes work the same way.
Axe vs other melee weapons
Most melee weapons in St. Amelia are temporary. You pick them up from the environment, and they break after a few swings or blocks.

Blocking wears down a plank or pipe. With the Axe, blocking costs you nothing, since the weapon has no durability to lose.
The one hit kill does not apply to every enemy. Larger enemies take more than one hit.

The Axe is one of five main weapons. Three are available on a first playthrough and two are New Game Plus unlocks.

The Pistol takes two shots to kill a standard enemy. The Shotgun can do it in one, which makes it the strongest option on a first run.
Using the Axe during an endings run
Silent Hill Townfall has five endings. Justice, Forever and Abandoned are the main three. Dog and Sci-Fi are joke endings, and you can only reach them in New Game Plus.
The main three depend on two numbers: how many enemies you kill and how many Discoveries you collect. Only Clues and Documents count as Discoveries. To get Justice, your Discoveries need to stay ahead of your kills.
This matters because the Axe makes killing easy. If you are going for Justice, you can still carry it for blocking and just avoid finishing off enemies where you can. Run, hide or distract instead. Your current totals are shown in the Statistics tab on the main menu.
