India gets playoff Spot for ESL Pro League Asia Finals

In a move that is said to boost the country’s hopes of a more international presence, ESL in its press release has announced that India would be getting a playoff spot, where it would be competing against 3 more teams for a spot at the ESL Pro League Finals at Odense, Denmark.

The winner of the ESL India Premiership Finals, to be held in Hyderabad on the 13th and 14th of October, will move on to the Asia Playoffs, where they will face the winners of the China and SEA region for a chance to be Asia’s sole entrant for the finals.

China will get 2 slots for the Asia Playoffs, whereas the ANZ winner will get a direct entry to the global finals. This announcement is one of the first steps to recognize India as a growing scene within the Asian community, including the formation of OpTic India, who are undoubtedly the favourites for this spot.

Other changes in the APAC region include 2 spots for the playoffs in China. The playoffs will be played on October 23, with a single elimination best of 3 format, and the csgo community will have its eyes over it as it will be very interesting to see who gets the sole Asian entry.
