Epic Games has officially confirmed that the beloved Simpsons map is coming back to Fortnite later this summer, and fans are already losing their minds. This marks the comeback of one of Fortnite’s most popular crossover locations, which many players have been hoping to revisit since it first disappeared from the game.
However, there’s also a catch that you should know about. The Fortnite Simpsons map, Springfield, which is set to arrive sometime in Summer 2026, is only expected to be introduced to Fortnite Reload this time around. It won’t be available to play in the core game modes of the title.
For the unaware, Fortnite Reload is the faster, smaller-scale battle royale mode that pits 40 players against each other rather than the usual crowd.
Moving the map to Reload actually makes a lot of sense given its smaller size. During the original mini-season, the Springfield map ran with the full 80 players and felt noticeably cramped. Reload’s 40-player format should give players some breathing room while still providing enough space for action.
For those who missed it the first time around, last year’s original Simpsons collaboration was a massive event that brought with it a dedicated Springfield map, iconic character skins including Homer, Marge, and Flanders among others, and original animated shorts that aired both in-game and on Disney+.
The community reaction regarding this announcement has been overwhelmingly positive. Players have already taken to social media forums to share their excitement, with some expressing their joy at the news while others remain hopeful that a fresh wave of Simpsons cosmetics might be on the way.
Epic Games hasn’t locked in an exact launch date or detailed exactly what the returning crossover will involve, but with summer fast approaching, it won’t be long before players can drop into Springfield once more.
