Emberville, an upcoming pixel-art action RPG from Irish indie studio Cygnus Cross, has surpassed 600,000 wishlists ahead of its Early Access debut, according to the developer.
Players will not have to wait until launch to find out what the attention is about. Emberville will participate in Steam Next Fest from October 19 to October 26, 2026, with a public demo available throughout the event. The game will then enter Steam Early Access on October 27, just one day after Next Fest ends.
The unusually tight schedule effectively gives PC players a week to try Emberville before deciding whether to jump into its Early Access release. The demo will offer a first hands-on look at the game’s mix of action RPG combat, character builds, exploration, loot and town building.
Emberville demo arrives during Steam Next Fest
Cygnus Cross confirmed to TalkEsport that Emberville’s public demo will be available during Steam Next Fest from October 19–26.

The studio has not yet detailed exactly how much content the demo will contain. That means players should not assume that specific classes, areas or progression will be available until Cygnus Cross provides further details or the demo goes live.
What has been confirmed is the broader gameplay structure. Emberville combines fast-paced combat with flexible character progression, crafting, gathering and the reconstruction of a ruined settlement. Players can wishlist Emberville on Steam ahead of the demo and Early Access release.
What is Emberville?
Emberville begins with the player waking without their memories inside the Vitromotus, a vast and dangerous environment that forms a central part of the game’s exploration loop. Players venture through its procedurally generated areas, fight creatures, gather resources and rescue survivors before returning to rebuild the ruined town of Emberville.
Rebuilding is more than a visual side activity. Rescuing townspeople and restoring the settlement unlocks additional systems and contributes to progression, creating a loop between exploring the Vitromotus and developing the town.

Cygnus Cross is also avoiding a rigid class choice at the beginning of the game. Classes can instead be unlocked by reaching milestones while using different weapons and armour types. Once unlocked, players can switch between them, with each class carrying its own skill tree.
Weapons have their own progression as well. Continued use can unlock weapon-specific skills and bonuses, encouraging players to build familiarity with particular equipment rather than treating every new weapon purely as a statistical upgrade.
Combat is only part of Emberville’s progression
Cygnus Cross is building Emberville around several progression paths beyond combat. Players can mine, fish, cut wood and gather herbs, while crafting disciplines include weaponsmithing, armorsmithing, alchemy, cooking, carpentry, jewelcrafting and tailoring.
The developer currently plans 16 weapon categories and 13 classes, although Emberville remains a game in active development and those plans could evolve during Early Access.
Players will also have access to a personal creative area where they can build a home, grow crops, decorate and use their life-skill tools. Combined with rebuilding Emberville itself, the system gives the game a quieter progression loop alongside dungeon exploration and combat.
Emberville enters Early Access on October 27
Emberville will enter Early Access on October 27, 2026. Cygnus Cross has already confirmed the date through the game’s official Steam channels, giving players almost no downtime between the end of the Next Fest demo and the start of Early Access.
The Early Access build will support English at launch, with Cygnus Cross planning to introduce additional languages through future updates.
The studio says Emberville has now crossed 600,000 wishlists globally ahead of the October release. Wishlist totals are not publicly exposed by Steam in absolute numbers, so the milestone should be understood as a figure supplied by Cygnus Cross rather than an independently verifiable Steam statistic.
That still gives Emberville considerable momentum for an independent release. More importantly, anyone curious about the game will have an opportunity to judge it directly: the public demo arrives on October 19, remains available through October 26, and Early Access begins the following day.
