Can DRX Defend Their BMIC Title? A Look at Their New Roster and 2026 Performance

South Korean esports organisation DRX will enter the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) 2026 as the defending champions. The team won BMIC 2025 in Delhi with a dominant performance, but a lot has changed since then.

DRX no longer has the same roster that won the championship last year. Three of its four players have left, and the organisation has built a new lineup around its experienced In-Game Leader (IGL), Qx.

The new team has delivered some good results in 2026, but it has also struggled at major international tournaments. Now, DRX will travel to Mumbai to defend its title against some of the best teams from India, South Korea, and Japan.

DRX Dominated BMIC 2025 With Its Previous Roster

DRX won BMIC 2025 in Delhi with a roster featuring Hyunbin, Cyxae, Qx, and Soez.

The team dominated the competition, with Hyunbin delivering one of the best individual performances of the tournament. He secured 44 finishes in 18 matches and won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Qx also played an important role in the championship victory. He secured 29 finishes and received the Best IGL award for his leadership.

Here is how the DRX players performed at BMIC 2025:

All four players contributed to the team’s success, helping DRX lift the championship trophy in Delhi. However, the championship-winning roster did not stay together for long.

DRX Rebuilt Its Roster Around Qx in 2026

Following their BMIC victory, DRX finished sixth at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC).

In January 2026, Hyunbin, Cyxae, and Soez left the organisation, leaving Qx as the only remaining player from the championship-winning lineup.

DRX then signed BINI from NS RedForce, along with Hoxy and TRE from FN Esports. The organisation also retains Bigfafa, one of the well-known coaches in PUBG Mobile esports.

Here is the DRX roster for BMIC 2026:

With three new players, DRX had to rebuild its teamwork and develop a new playing style.

However, keeping Qx was an important decision. His experience and leadership helped the team maintain some stability during the roster changes.

DRX’s Performance in 2026: Strong Results but International Struggles

DRX started its journey with the new roster by winning the Esports Championship Asia 2026, a B-tier tournament. The team then finished fourth at PUBG Mobile Pro Series (PMPS) 2026 Season 1 and fifth at the PUBG Mobile Macao Invitational 2026, an S-tier international tournament. DRX also won the PUBG Mobile Rivals Cup 2026 and secured fourth place in the Korean Esports League 2026.

These results showed that the new roster had the potential to compete against strong opponents. However, the team’s biggest disappointment came at the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026.

DRX finished 25th at PMWC 2026, a disappointing result for a team that had won BMIC just a year earlier.

The team struggled to deliver the same level of performance against international opponents. More recently, DRX showed signs of improvement by finishing second at PMPS 2026 Season 2, where NS RedForce won the championship.

PMPS 2026 Season 22nd

DRX has won two tournaments with its new roster, but its 25th-place finish at the World Cup remains a major concern heading into BMIC 2026.

Can DRX Win BMIC 2026 With Its New Roster?

BMIC 2026 will take place from October 30 to November 1 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai.

DRX will face five Indian teams alongside the other South Korean and Japanese representatives, with six Indian teams competing in total.

Among the biggest opponents will be NS RedForce, Dplus, iQOO Soul, Gladiators Esports, and iQOO 8Bit.

NS RedForce will be a particularly interesting opponent after defeating DRX to win PMPS 2026 Season 2.

However, DRX still has several strengths. Qx has already proved his leadership by winning the Best IGL award at BMIC 2025. BINI, Hoxy, and TRE bring individual firepower, while Bigfafa provides coaching experience.

The team’s recent second-place finish at PMPS also shows that it can compete against strong Korean opponents.

The biggest question is whether DRX can deliver the same performance on the international stage. Winning BMIC 2025 with Hyunbin, Cyxae, and Soez was one achievement. Defending that title with three new players would be an even bigger statement.

DRX may not be the same team that dominated BMIC 2025, but they still have the talent, leadership, and experience to fight for another championship in Mumbai.
