FACEIT offers several metrics to judge your performance, and Round Swing is one of them. While a random percentage figure might be confusing to look at, it captures a wide range of statistics. It summarises them into something a player can use to judge their performance on a surface level without digging deep.
What is Round Swing?
Round Swing, as the name suggests, is the difference between a player’s actions and the expected outcome. Every action, including but not limited to opening kills, clutches, or damage that leads to a round conversion, helps boost your Round Swing percentage. While the exact counting formula is not revealed by FACEIT, a realistic estimate would suggest that Round Swing = the change in round-win probability caused by a player’s action.
Assume your team has a 50% chance of winning a round, but your impactful kill turns the tide of the game. FACEIT’s Round Swing formula would see that as a high-impact move and count it as a positive action, increasing your swing percentage.
Why does this matter?
As every single kill reflects on the scoreboard, their impact can be vastly different. While one may rack up an ace in an eco-round, another might clutch a 1v5 to win an unwinnable round. In either case, the scoreboard shows 5 kills for both players and an MVP, but the difference in impact is readily apparent.
How to get a higher Round Swing?
As mentioned earlier in this article, FACEIT has no defined formula for how this value is calculated, so here is a list of possible actions that might see you earn a higher rating:
- Opening Kills
- Clutch
- Assists
- Kills that regain man-advantage
K/D has always been a popular metric among FPS players, but it fails to justify its impact in the game. Round Swing, by contrast, offers an interesting way to translate a player’s performance into statistics that capture invisible impact beyond kills.
