Blizzard Cancels PvE Hero Mode for Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment has recently confirmed that they will not be continuing to work on the PvE hero mode for their FPS title Overwatch 2, contrary to what the developers had promised earlier. The PvE hero mode was supposed to be the prime attraction of Overwatch 2, and it would pit the Overwatch heroes in a co-op mode where players had to work their way through various maps.

However, from Blizzard’s latest interview with Gamespot, it doesn’t seem that we’d be getting the highly anticipated PvE mode for Overwatch 2 at all in the future as the devs have decided to abandon it to focus on their live game instead.

Originally announced back in 2019 by former game director Jeff Kaplan, the PvE hero mode was a significant driving force behind the development of Overwatch, which is why fans aren’t very happy now that the game mode has been officially discontinued by Blizzard.

“In reality, what we were looking at was running two separate games at the same time with a set of Heroes as the piece that is shared between two of them, Blizzard Entertainment said in the interview. “And as we started to get further and further into it–obviously our players could realize that we were pulling focus away from the live game–but it just didn’t look like there was a definitive end date in sight where we would finally be able to put that stamp on [it], or that end date was years away and it no longer felt like we could be doing that to our players, or we could be doing that to the live game that we were running. And that’s when we took the moment to shift strategy and put everything into the live game.”

Previously, we’ve seen Overwatch 2 introduce PvE missions to the game in the form of events like Retribution, Storm Rising, Junkenstein’s Revenge and Uprising. However, these events suffered from extremely limited replayability, which is why fans were looking forward to the PvE hero mode that the devs had promised earlier. This PvE hero mode would introduce replayability to PvE missions in Overwatch 2. It’s disappointing to learn that there’ll be no plans to include this mode in the game moving forward.

VCT Ascension Pacific 2023 to Take Place in Thailand

Riot Games revealed on the official VALORANT Esports Indonesia YouTube channel that Bangkok, Thailand would host VCT Ascension Pacific 2023. 

The tournament is set to take place between June 28 and July 9, and it will include ten teams, each of which represents a VCT sub-region in the Asia Pacific. The Ascension champion will be promoted to the VCT Pacific League for the next two seasons. 

With the release of the VCT structure and the Ascension League, Riot Games radically altered the Valorant competitive scene.

However, the company’s new franchise system has altered which clubs are eligible to compete in the tournament beginning in 2023, despite the event’s otherwise familiar format.

With regard to the VCT, the championship will feature 30 teams representing three different zones. Others from these areas will participate in regional tournaments to earn a berth in the Valorant Ascension League.

The inaugural league for these teams will be the Challengers league, which will be divided in half. Each of the 21 Challengers leagues will have two splits consisting of multiple weeks of regular season play. Only the best Challengers teams will advance to the next round, Ascension.

“This year more than twenty Challenger Leagues provided organized competitions that helped develop the next generation of VALORANT talent. A robust Challenger ecosystem is imperative to ensuring the most talented teams and pros in esports select VALORANT as the game where they dedicate their time and effort. Ascension represents the culmination of our first ever Challengers Season and we think this tournament series has the potential to become one of the most exciting events on our calendar. We’re excited to share these details with all of you and we’ll be listening closely to hear your thoughts on the tournament,” stated Anton Ferraro, global communications lead for VALORANT Esports. 

There will be three different regions in Challengers Ascension: the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific. One team from each of those areas will advance to play in the international league for their country when the Challengers Ascension competition concludes.

The worldwide league is expected to gradually add teams beginning in 2024. There will be a total of 42 teams in the international league by the year 2027. As of the year 2026, we’ll be promoting two clubs annually instead of one to the top international leagues.

That means that until the year 2026, one domestic team will be promoted to the top level of competition abroad every year. Starting in 2027, the league will add two teams every year until it reaches its maximum of 14 teams.

TR won the pistol round again, and D1srupt got an Ace in the anti-eco round. TR only dropped one round in their defending half to close the map at 13-5.

TR won another pistol at the start of Haven and went on to win 4 rounds in a row. Round 5 was a thrifty win for AA. They managed to equalize the score at 4-4. Even the half was closed at a balanced score of 6-6.

AA won their first pistol round and anti-eco round, to bring the score to 8-6. TR won their full buy round but again lost two rounds in a row to bring the score to 7-10. From there, TR managed to pull the game to Overtime, only to lose 16-14.

The third map was Ascent, which started with AA winning the pistol round and anti-eco round. TR won their full buy round but proceeded to lose 6 rounds in a row, to eventually lose the half at 9-3. D1srupt almost got a 1v4 clutch in round 6 but failed. Round 10 was won by TR as Kaizen got a triple kill and Techno got a triple kill in round 11 to close the round.

AA did not drop a single round in the second half as they closed out the map at 13-3 to win the series 2-1.

Kishi was the MVP as he had a KDA of 61/44 /27 on three different agents in three maps.
