LoL pro Dyrus claims TSM did not pay his salary

One of the best top laners of his time, Dyrus has claimed that TSM did not give him a paycheck instead all his earnings came from streaming and streaming alone.

During an AMA session on X, Dyrus was answering questions when he came across someone asking what his peak salary was during his time in TSM, to which he claimed “I didn’t take a paycheck, all of it was from streaming.”.

Leaving fans stunned at such a bizarre response as considering his stature as a player during his time with TSM, Dyrus should have been one of the highly paid LoL players. He added that despite Riot being less generous during his time as a player, besides streaming, tournament winnings also account for a part of his income.

“forgot to add from tournament winnings but that’s beside the point. a lot of you guys who aren’t aware Riot didn’t give us jack shit back then and I retired before they started handing out big paychecks (franchising) since I burnt out on the game. (thanks 2v1 meta)” he added.

League of Legends has been one of the games where money has been no object at the upper echelons and LoL players boast some of the highest net-worths. Dyrus being a legend, fans would expect him to get enormous financial benefits from TSM.

He joined TSM in 2012 and stayed with the organization till 2017. In the five years he spent with them, he played as a pro till 2015 and spent the final two years as a content creator.

It has not been mentioned whether Dyrus was paid during his time as a professional player by TSM. It is entirely possible that he earned a salary in the first 3 years as a pro but the paystub stopped when he became a content creator for the team. However, on the off-chance that Dyrus did not get a paycheck during his 5-year stint as a player and content creator for TSM, it has to be morally questionable.

nitr0 returns to Valorant with M80

0

According to reports, Captain America, aka nitr0 is set to return to Valorant after a brief period of mixed results as the skipper for Team Liquid’s CS team. He will take on the IGL duties for M80 as the 2024 Valorant season approaches.

Unlike his second stint with CS, Canella enjoyed a successful Valorant career during his time in 100 Thieves. He put together a very competitive team that produced impressive results and was always a favourite to win championships. nitr0’s strength is his playstyle to fit in with star players and an in-depth knowledge of the North American scene that can help take M80 to the top.

M80 enjoyed a fair 2023 winning both the Mid-Season Invitational as well as playoffs, but failed to push it over the line on several occasions. nitr0 comes into the team, hoping to shape them as a side that walks into tournaments as favourites after the departure of some of their players who formed the foundation of the team, namely  Mohamed “johnqt” Amine Ouarid and Daniel “eeiu” Vucenovic.

Fans have raised concern over the loss of firepower with nitr0’s addition but individual performance can be overlooked when choosing an IGL. M80 miseries lie with inconsistency and nitr0 is an experienced veteran who is capable of bringing structure to a team with solid fundamentals that will establish their playstyle to take on the big dogs of the scene.

M80 will line up as:

  •  Alexander “zander” Dituri
  •  Marc-Andre “NiSMO” Tayar
  •  Gianfranco “koalanoob” Potestio
  •  Nick “nitr0” Cannella
  •  Brendan “BcJ” Jensen
  •  Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer (Head coach)
  •  “GUNTER” (Coach)

OR Esports Bids Farewell to Its BGMI Player Mac

0

Following a trend set by other prominent teams, OR Esports has entered the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) rostermania by bidding farewell to Mac, ending his tenure with the organization. Joining the organization in August 2023, MJ played an integral role within the team until his departure on 5th January 2024.

Mac’s Journey With OR Esports’ BGMI Roster

During Mac’s tenure, OR Esports consistently demonstrated commendable performances, but failed to achieve success in official tournaments. The team started off with a promising journey after the game’s return, winning the BGMI Pro Scrims with a dominant gameplay.

Further solidifying their presence, OR Esports showcased commendable performance in third-party tournaments such as the Novum Overpower Series Season 1 and Skyesports Champions Series, where it secured 3rd and 4th positions, respectively. The team’s outstanding performance continued in the IQOO Pro Series, where they emerged as runners-up. Amid high anticipation in the Skyesports Championship 5.0, OR Esports once again impressed, securing the 4th position. In the BGMI Masters Series Season 2, OR Esports started strong but concluded the grand finals at 13th position.

Despite these noteworthy accomplishments in third-party tournaments, the team faced challenges in official competitions. The team showcased an impressive start in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023, but ultimately settled for 9th place in the Grand Finals. A similar narrative unfolded in BGMI Pro Series 2023, where the team failed to secure a spot in the Grand Finals.

OR Esports’ in-game leader Gunjan “Jelly” Thakur left OR Esports to join GodLike Esports. Now, as the organization bid farewell to Mac, the team is now left with only two players – Tanishk “ADMINO” Singh and Robin “Robin” Singh Shekhawat. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both OR Esports and Mac.

BLAST to host the Fortnite Championship Series and the Rocket League Championship Series

0

Popular esports tournament organizer BLAST has announced their partnership with Epic Games to operate the premier event of their two flagship esports titles Fortnite and Rocket League on X.

BLAST has been one of the best esports event organizers in the world if not the best, known for their standout production quality that makes the esports event more engaging and enjoyable. With the latest agreement between BLAST and Epic Games, the former will take over the operations of competitions, event production, and marketing of the RLCS and FNCS.

Fans have a fond memory of BLAST hosting FNCS events in the past and most recently the FNCS Global Championship in the Royal Arena of Copenhagen. EPIC has now extended its relationship with this multi-year deal that will see BLAST not only host Fortnite events but Rocket League events right alongside it.

“Pioneering positive change in esports has always been part of the BLAST DNA and this announcement is an amazing continuation of that journey. Working together with the world’s biggest game publishers to elevate and grow their competitive properties has been a huge area of focus for BLAST in recent years. This collaboration is testament to that hard work and we are delighted to expand our relationship with Epic Games by operating the Rocket League Championship Series in addition to the Fortnite Championship Series.”

BLAST has always stood out with its top-of-the-line production quality and a very aesthetically pleasing theme for its events as a result none of its events go by without staggering viewership. It can be debated that the previous FNCS events hosted by BLAST were better than the ones that came before and as a result, EPIC handing them the rights for their future events will only benefit the esport scene for both games.

Revenant Esports Bids Farewell to Its BGMI Player MJ

0

Following the footsteps of few other Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) teams, Revenant Esports has also entered the rostermania by announcing the departure of their BGMI player, Harshit “MJ” Mahajan, ending his tenure with the organization. Joining them in April 2023, MJ played an integral role within the team until his departure was officially announced today, on 4th January 2024.

MJ’s Journey with Revenant Esports

During his time with Revenant Esports, MJ played a crucial role in the team, contributing to their journey through various official tournaments since the relaunch of BGMI in May. Despite not achieving exceptional results, the team remained consistent and managed to secure a spot in the Grand Finals of every official tournament taken place since the game’s relaunch.

In the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023, the team finished in the 7th position, followed by a 5th-place finish in the India – Korea Invitational. The most recent Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2023 saw the team closing at the 8th position. While these results were not quite the best, the team stood strong and showcased consistency.

However, it wasn’t a complete gloom for Revenant Esports. The team displayed notable performances in several third-party tournaments, earning the runner-up position in both Skyesports Championship 5.0 and Nodwin BGMI Champions Cup. The Villager Esports Pro Invitational 2023 witnessed the team securing an impressive 3rd position.

With MJ and Revenant Esports parting ways, the organization is not left empty-handed. The team still has a complete roster of four players, having signed Kaushal “SIMP” Jaiswal in November of the previous year.  Revenant Esports’ current roster includes the following players:

  • Deepak “SENSEI” Negi
  • Nishant “APOLLO”
  • Ritesh “Fierce” Nawandar
  • SIMP

On MJ’s front, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. Having been a significant player for Revenant Esports, MJ’s might soon join a reputed team soon. However, only time will tell.
