Dota 2 Pro SumaiL Loses Lawsuit Against Evil Geniuses on All Counts

Dota 2 pro and legendary midlaner Syed “SumaiL” Hassan has lost a lawsuit against his former team Evil Geniuses on all counts after a two-year-long legal battle.

The 25-year-old had filed a lawsuit against the North American organization in December 2021 regarding a contract he had signed with them back in 2016 after he had won TI5.

The news was initially brought to light by Richard Lewis, who reported that Sumail claimed EG had “taken advantage of a young, naive, and vulnerable” player through several poorly explained agreements, which unfairly pressured him to relinquish benefits he had rightfully earned during his time with the organization.

According to a recent trial report by Lewis, the jury delivered the verdict siding with Evil Geniuses on March 1st following a two-year legal battle between the two parties.

EG had refuted all the allegations made against it by SumaiL while arguing during the lawsuit that their former mid-player had been advised to seek legal counsel before signing the contract. They further claimed that EG did not impose any unfair terms on the player when he expressed his intention to leave the Dota 2 team and that they offered him reasonable financial compensation.

SumaiL has continued to be a part of the professional Dota 2 scene during the trial and is currently a part of the active roster of Nigma Galaxy.

Valve Introduces Dota Labs: A New Experimental Feature for Dota 2

The March 6 Dota 2 update has introduced a bunch of new content to the game, including a major Dota Plus update, new cosmetics, quest rewards, and much more. However, what has excited the hardcore players of the MOBA even more is the newly introduced ‘Dota Labs’ feature added in the update.

The Dota Labs is essentially a set of experimental features available to all Dota players, and a new way for the developers to ship new experiments to the game. 

“These are features where our playtesting has produced mixed or ambiguous data,” Valve said in a blog post. “We can’t really know if they’re good or how to make them better without seeing real Dota players using them, so we’re shipping them in an earlier form on purpose so you can tell us whether they’re worth continuing to invest in.”

How To Use Dota Labs in Dota 2

To use the features included in Dota Labs, players can simply head over to the options menu, where they’ll be able to find a new tab named ‘Dota Labs’. Features included as part of Dota Labs are experimental and are likely less polished than features that have already been added to the game. For the same reason, they’re included in a separate menu and are disabled by default.

All Dota Labs Features & Experimental Settings

Here’s a list of all the features and experimental settings included as part of Dota Labs at the time of writing:

  • Overlay Map: This feature enables users to bind a key to make the minimap much bigger, transparent, and fixed at the center of the screen.
  • Modifier Key Filter Bindings: This is an extremely useful feature that can potentially be used to force your target selection to enemies, allies, creeps or heroes. This can prevent you from accidentally using your big teamfight ultimates (like Doom or Laguna Blade) on creeps.
  • High-Visibility Local Hero Healthbar: This setting significantly alters the visibility of your hero’s nameplate, making it more prominent and helping you distinguish it during chaotic teamfights.

These were all the features included as part of Dota Labs at the time of its launch. Valve is likely to ship out more experimental features to the game in future, but they’ve mentioned that they’re currently looking for player feedback on settings that have been shipped to Dota with the Dota Labs update.

TeamXSpark’s highly anticipated addition, Shubham “NinjaJOD” Sahoo, to its Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) roster has parted ways with the team just two months after joining in January 2024. The departure was confirmed by the team’s owner, Tanmay “Scout” Singh, during a recent livestream. Scout also clarified that it was a mutual decision by the team and NinjaJOD. 

NinjaJOD Left TeamXSpark, Joins Team Zero

NinjaJOD was not seen playing with TeamXSpark in a recent BGMI tournament, which made fans curious about his absence. In a recent livestream, Scout’s viewers asked him about it. Responding to it, Scout confirmed that NinjaJOD and TeamXSpark had mutually parted ways. “Ninja is not playing in TeamXSpark because it was the team’s and Ninja’s decision. Ninja didn’t want to continue in TeamXSpark due to some internal issues, which we can reveal openly. It’s very simple, but I cannot tell you about internal issues,” he said. 

Scout further revealed that after leaving TeamXSpark, NinjaJOD was playing in Team Zero, alongside Scout. “Currently, Ninja is playing in Team Zero because he wanted to play with me,” Scout said. “He told me that he wanted to play a tournament with me and wanted to know how it works. That’s why Ninja is playing with us. If it works out for him, then he’ll continue with Team Zero,” he adeed.

Lastly, Scout clarified that Ninja’s departure was amicable, with no will involved. He emphasized that the decision was entirely mutual, with both parties agreeing to part ways for the betterment of their respective journeys. He further clarified that the decision did not involve the team’s coach Osmium. 

As NinjaJOD and TeamXSpark have parted ways, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them. It will be interesting to see the outcome of NinjaJOD joining TeamZero.
