Skyesports Championship 2024 Plagued by Technical Issues, Players React

0

Update: There’s been a delay to day one of the Skyesports Championship 2024. Organizers have rescheduled all matches for tomorrow, July 24th, due to technical difficulties explained below.

Skyesports Championship 2024, a highly anticipated 12-team event with a prize pool of $300,000, kicked off today in Mumbai, India, and will end on 28rd July. Featuring top-tier teams like The MongolZ, ENCE, BLEED, and Eternal Fire, the event was all set to be one of the biggest Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) event to be ever held in India. However, the tournament has been marred by significant technical difficulties from the outset.

Skyesports Championship 2024 Faces Backlash Over Technical Problems

The opening matches, with The MongolZ facing True Rippers and Revenant facing Eternal Fire, were plagued by frequent disruptions. The matches were initially scheduled to start at 12:00 pm IST, but the games were delayed and subsequently interrupted by technical issues and power outages, causing frustration among players, as well as the viewers.

A major incident occurred when an indefinite tech pause was announced due to a suspected power cut. Although the games resumed after a lengthy delay, they were halted again within minutes. BLEED’s coach kassad confirmed the power outage on X, stating: “Update from India: PC situation is somewhat sorted out. However, the electricity is out for the last hour and everything is on hold.”

Eternal Fire’s star player XANTARES also expressed his dissatisfaction with the tournament’s conditions on X. His post on X translated to: “I have never seen such a bad tournament in my life, the PCs are extremely bad, there were nails on the tables, now the electricity goes out first, then the internet goes out, it’s a disgrace.”

His teammate Maj3r echoed these sentiments, posting: “Status: We are the first team to play official here. After 3 rounds, we had an electric issue for some minutes, then we started again playing 2 rounds then an internet issue right now. There is no internet in the hotel for only 4 rooms from what I understand, (official room) and we don’t have news yet when it will be fixed. It’s going to be a long day for everyone. Keep your mental up.”

Acknowledging the shortcomings in equipment and the experience of the staff, Maj3r showed understanding of the challenges faced by the organizers, recognizing that this is India’s first attempt at hosting such a significant esports event. Despite the numerous issues, he expressed optimism that this experience would be beneficial for future events in the region.

Prior to the current technical issues, players had already voiced concerns about the poor condition of the desks provided for gameplay. Additionally, as the electricity and Internet was getting cut, the teams had to communicate picks and bans via phone calls.

However, Shiva Nandy, the CEO of Skyepsorts, confirmed that the issues with the desk were solved within 45 minutes of receiving the complaints.

In response to the ongoing disruptions, Skyesports has issued a statement addressing the electricity fluctuations at the venue. . They assured fans and participants that their team, in collaboration with technicians, is working tirelessly to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible.

How to Show FPS in Dota 2

FPS, or Frames per Second, measures how many frames your device can render per second. A higher FPS results in smoother gameplay, which is essential for competitive games like Dota 2. While Dota 2 is not particularly demanding in terms of hardware, maintaining a minimum of 60 FPS is recommended for a decent experience, with 90 FPS being optimal for most players.

In this article, we will explain how to show FPS in Dota 2 and how to increase FPS in the game.

How to Show FPS in Dota 2?

  1. Open the Settings Menu: Start by pressing the machine cog icon located at the top-left corner of the screen.
  2. Enable Display Network Information: Navigate to the Options tab and select Advanced Options. Then, enable the ‘Display Network Information’ option. This will display your FPS, ping, and packet loss stats at the top right of your screen during gameplay.

Using the Console

For those who prefer using the console, you can enable the FPS display by following these steps:

  1. Open the Console: Press the console key (usually ~ or \).
  2. Enter the Command: Type cl_showfps 1 and press Enter.

Using Third-Party Programs

If you want more detailed monitoring, you can use third-party programs such as Fraps, FPS Monitor, CAM, MSI Afterburner, or GeForce Experience. Ensure you download these programs from their official websites to avoid malware.

If your FPS is below the recommended 60 FPS, there are several methods to improve it:

  • Visit the Video Tab: Go to the Video tab in the settings menu.
  • Set Graphics Quality to Basic: Lower the overall graphics quality to the Basic level.
  • Adjust Specific Settings: Set Texture Quality to High while reducing Effects Quality and Shadow Quality to Low. Additionally, disable all extra effects and set the game to the ‘Fastest’ option.
  • Close Background Applications: Ensure no unnecessary applications are running in the background, as they can consume valuable system resources.
  • Update Drivers: Keep your graphics drivers up to date to ensure optimal performance.
  • Check for Overheating: Ensure your device is not overheating, as thermal throttling can significantly reduce FPS.

BGMS Season 3 Survival Week Day 1 Recap

Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) Season 3 League Stage has started with its first phase, BGMS Season 3 Survival Week, which will take place from 22nd to 28th July. On the first day, fans were treated to intense action, with Vasista Esports and Entity securing the Winner Winner Chicken Dinners in two matches. Let’s dive deeper and see how each match unfolded.

Recap of BGMS Season 3 Survival Week Day 1 Match 1 and 2

Here is the recap of both matches from Day 1 of BGMS Season 3 Survival Week.

Match 1 – Erangel: Groups A, B, C, D

In the intense first match, five teams clawed their way to the very end of the game – Team Forever, Carnival Gaming, Vasista Esports, Reckoning Esports, and OneBlade

Vasista Esports’ ShadowOG pulled off a spectacular play against the final two players of OneBlade. With a perfectly timed grenade, he took down Sarkar. As AnonYmous, OneBlade’s last player, desperately tried to rush to revive Sarkar, ShadowOG finished him, thus eliminating the team.

While making his way to the playzone, the last surviving player of Team Forever, Mafia, got finished by the zone.

With Team Forever gone, the tension soared as the match came down to a three-way fight between Reckoning Esports, Vasista Esports, and Carnival Gaming.

Vasista Esports’ Wixxky and ShadowOG finished Carnival Gaming’s Spower and GoBLiN, respectively with a grenade and finished. This left Neyo, the sole survivor of Carnival Gaming, in a precarious situation. He opted to perform a heal battle through the final zones, but it wasn’t enough. The zone eventually took him out.

The match was not left between Reckoning Esports and Vasista Esports to battle it out in a 4v3 fight. Despite being outnumbered, Vasista Esports showcased an impressive performance and finished off Reckoning Esports to win the match.

Match 2 – Miramar: Groups A, B, C, E

The last five teams in the BGMS Season 3 Survival Week—Entity, Team Forever, GodLike Esports, Reckoning Esports, and Vasista Esports—showcased remarkable resilience and strategy. Entity took on Reckoning Esports in a 4v3 fight, eliminating two of their players while losing one of their own.

The Playzone claimed the last surviving player of Team Forever, narrowing the competition. In the final moments, Entity stood strong with three players, while Reckoning Esports, GodLike Esports, and Vasista Esports each had one player remaining.

Reckoning Esports’ AquaNox took down Vasista Esports’ Apollo with a precise grenade. GodLike Esports’ ZGod and Reckoning Esports’ GravityJoD opted for a heal battle. GravityJoD succumbed to the zone first, followed by ZGod, securing Entity the victory.
