Here Is Why Asmongold Rejected Esports World Cup Sponsorship

0

Popular streamer Asmongold refused an offer on a sponsored stream from the organizers of the Esports World Cup. Talking in a video on his YouTube, he explained that the decision was purely made on personal grounds without having morals in it.

In reality, the first-ever Esports World Cup was won by Team Falcons in Saudi Arabia earlier in the year. However, the event also faced a tremendous volume of criticism based on the human rights record of Saudi Arabia and its stance regarding LGBT rights. Many prominent figures in the esports industry refused to be part of the event.

When Asmongold was pressed about the sponsorship offer from the EWC organizers, he avoided the question. He focused on making the point that the decision made is only one of personal preference, not because of any problems with ethics.

The Esports World Cup goes back to Saudi Arabia next year. For an event that is growing in stature year after year, it will be interesting to note how future participants react to the controversy surrounding its host nation.

Let’s explore the Fortnite OG Return schedule without wasting further time.

Fortnite OG Return Schedule Revealed

As this is a limited-time experience, the return follows the same routine as the previous OG event. Players will play back from the first three seasons of Chapter 2 in expedited form. Here is the schedule according to reliable leaker ShiinaBR:

  • Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1: November 2
  • Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: November 9

A grand finale is also scheduled for the 30th of November, which will most likely be a live event similar to the Big Bang that kick-started Chapter 5. Details are not yet set in concrete, but it’s safe to assume this event will be a big transition point and may signal a fresh start.

The second OG return will start once the current season, Chapter 5 Season 4, ends. So, mark your calendars for November 2nd as that is when the familiar landscapes of Chapter 2 will again hit our screens. While the exact storyline is still anybody’s guess, this blast from the past promises to be an exciting one for both returning and new fans alike.

Valve Reveals Early Development Footage of Deadlock: Here’s What It Looked Like

0

Valve developer ‘Yoshi’ has recently revealed the earliest development footage of their upcoming hero shooter, Deadlock, and you’ll be amazed to see just how much the game has progressed since its pre-Citadel days.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, chances are you’ve come across Deadlock—Valve’s next big title that’s currently in its closed alpha phase. Since its recent announcement on August 23rd, the game has managed to win the hearts of gamers from throughout the globe, thanks to its unique gameplay that blends the complexity of a MOBA with the movement and gunplay of a shooter.

If you’re lucky enough to have received a playtest invite to Deadlock, you’ve probably already tried and tested the game for yourself. However, are you curious about what it looked like in its initial testing days?

Earliest Development Footage of Deadlock Revealed

Formerly known as ‘Neon Prime’ and ‘Citadel’, Deadlock has been in development for a while now, with the community receiving occasional leaks from prominent leakers like Gabe Follower and Tyler McVicker on the subject. The recently revealed early development footage of Deadlock from its pre-Citadel days sheds light on what the developers had in mind while creating this title.

The short clip shared on the Deadlock Discord shows the player playing as Nick and using the same AK-47 model from Left 4 Dead 2, another popular Valve title. The creeps in the lanes appeared to be the same as Antlions from the Half-Life series, from which the assets were taken.

The clip further showcases that players were able to dismember the Antlions by shooting at their various parts, slowing them down. Upon killing them, players were greeted with the same sound that you can hear upon killing a creep in Dota 2.

Fans can check out the entire footage below:

Taking a look at the clip, it’s evident that Deadlock has come a long way since then. Needless to say, fans of the title are keeping their eyes peeled to see how the development of the title progresses from here.

How to Cure Frost in Black Myth Wukong?

0

The Banes that debuff you in battle are one of the obstacles you’ll have to get past in Black Myth: Wukong. With its freezing status effect, the Chill Bane, also known as Frost, is one of the more difficult Banes to defeat. The Black Myth: Wukong‘s cure for the chill state is as follows.

Chill State can be negated by the bodywarming powder and in this article, we will discuss how you can craft one for which you will find yourself looking for Jade Lotus and one Fire Bellflower. After completing the Xu Dog quest and taking down the frog boss in Sandgate Village, you can obtain the item’s recipe.

How to Cure Frost in Black Myth Wukong?

Once you have the necessary supplies, make your way to a nearby shrine and select the ‘Make Medicines’ tab. Using the Body-Warming Powder removes the Chilled State instantly and gives you temporary resistance to cold.

Now that you have the recipe and know how to craft it, dealing with Frost will get much easier. This was one of those annoying effects but having the bodywarming powder is a one-stop solution to get through this.

NiKo Set to Join Falcons After Major

According to a report, G2’s superstar NiKo is on his way out of the team and is set to join another superteam in the making as the Falcons are ready to punch in his release clause.

Falcons are reportedly willing to activate NiKo’s $1.2 Million release clause after the Shanghai Major. G2 has already heavily invested in a team around NiKo, m0nesy, and huNter which has been working hard towards the Major. While the new roster has failed to bag anything significant, it is clear from their recent results that they are onto something.

NiKo was able to end G2’s long trophy drought by winning the Blast World Finals and followed it by adding prestigious honors like IEM Katowice, IEM Cologne, and IEM Dallas to their cabinets. Despite all his glory, a Major trophy has always eluded NiKo in the most dramatic of ways which may have been his motivation towards joining Falcons.

Falcons previously tried acquiring NiKo and m0nesy but the star duo were persuaded by G2’s plans. NiKo’s motivation for joining G2 was his brother huNter but as things stand, his inconsistencies have cost them several tournaments. Throughout the inconsistencies for the roster, NiKo remained a solid performer who has always been a player to turn a game on its head.

Joining a start-studded Falcons roster is being teased at this point for NiKo, but they are no better than G2 regarding results. Falcon’s superteam has struggled to make a convincing run in any tournament they have participated in and whether getting NiKo is a solution to that problem, only time can tell.

NiKo would add firepower to the Falcons, something they are not particularly lacking but whether this might bring a stylistic change that could see the team become a tournament-winning side, is another story.

EDward Gaming star Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang, better known as Kangkang, has broken the all-time kill record for a single player in a best-of-five Valorant series at the Grand Final of Champions 2024.

At the end of the series, Kangkang managed to reign supreme at the top of the combined leaderboard with a whopping 111 kills over three games, breaking the former record which was set at 105 kills by Kim “t3xture” Na-ra at the VCT Pacific Stage 1 Grand Final against Paper Rex.

Kangkang kicked off the Champions 2024 Grand Final with a solid 22 kills with Neon on Haven, but Team Heretics managed to secure the map pretty convincingly. EDG bounced back on the next two maps, where Kangkang had an impressive 22 kills and 24 kills on Sunset and Lotus respectively.

The fourth map, Bind, saw the closest competition between the two teams. However, Team Heretics managed to come out on top with a 13-11 victory. Kangkang ended the map with 24 kills on his Raze.

Abyss was the decider map for the Champions 2024 Grand Final, in which Kangkang ended with 19 kills, helping EDG secure the series win for themselves.

How To Improve Performance in Deadlock: Best Settings for Increasing FPS

0

Due to Deadlock still being in its extremely early stages of alpha testing, there are prominent issues with the game’s performance, especially if you’re on a lower-end system. Performance-related problems like low FPS, stutters, and lag have been pretty common among testers who have managed to get their hands on the game. Luckily, there are a number of steps that you can take to try and solve these problems.

With the official announcement of Deadlock on August 23, 2024, Valve managed to garner the attention of gamers from throughout the globe. While being a Valve title is enough to give Deadlock an edge over its competition, the game actually looks pretty solid from the initial looks at it. Combining the depth and complexity of Dota 2 with the gunplay and movement of prominent shooters, Deadlock successfully creates a unique and fun gameplay experience for its players.

How To Improve Performance in Deadlock, Valve’s Upcoming Hero Shooter

If you’ve been lucky enough to secure a playtest invite for Deadlock, then you may have noticed issues with the game’s performance optimization. While performance issues are expected from any title in its closed alpha phase, if you’re finding the game unplayable due to low FPS, you can play with the in-game Deadlock settings to maximize its performance.

Best Deadlock Settings To Increase FPS

We’ve dug into Reddit and other social media forums to find the best Deadlock settings to maximize FPS. After trying it out in-game for ourselves, we’ve included the best in-game settings below:

  • Window Mode: Full Screen
  • Aspect Ratio: 16×9
  • Resolution: Personal Preference (Lower Resolution = More FPS)
  • Enable Full Screen Focus Behavior
  • Upscaling: Stretch
  • Render Quality: 60-70%
  • Anti-Aliasing: None
  • Screen Space AO: Off
  • Distance Field AO: Off
  • Texture Quality: Low
  • VSync: Off
  • Distance Field Shadows: Off
  • Displacement Mapping: Off
  • Post Process Bloom: Off
  • Effects Bloom: Off
  • Area Lights: Off
  • Depth of Field: Off
  • Distance Field Reflections: Off
  • MBOIT: On

Following the aforementioned settings, your game will not look the prettiest but you’ll be able to increase your FPS and prevent stutters and lag.

Do note that performance optimization is pretty low on the list of developers’ priorities for a game’s alpha testing. Fans can expect Deadlock’s performance to improve once the game nears its official launch, the date of which still remains uncertain.

New LoL Honor System Explained

Riot Games has recently shared updates on bringing a new and updated honor system to League of Legends, and it aims to fix the existing problems with the current system while also encouraging players to commend others for good behavior.

The developers acknowledged that the current system in League of Legends limits players to honoring just one teammate per game, which has led to commendations being based more on skill than on sportsmanship.

“We want the honor system to reflect good behavior, not just how many games you’ve played and how well you’ve played in them,” Riot Games stated in a recent announcement.

The New Honor System in LoL

League of Legends honor system

The first step that Riot Games is taking to address issues with the honor system is providing players with the ability to commend more than one player.

On top of that, players will also be able to honor their enemies starting September 2024, a returning feature that had been removed back in 2017 and has since been heavily requested by LoL players.

The devs also mentioned that they had more “long-term plans” for the LoL honor system, but no further details have been revealed in the announcement.

“We’re making changes to the system that let players identify and reward others who are truly honorable, not just cracked at the game,” the statement reads. “We have long-term plans for the system overall, but the first part you’ll see this September is the ability to honor more than one player per game as well as the ability to honor enemies.”
