The Mongolz Stuns Mousesports in Shanghai Major Elimination Stage

Mongolz has pulled off their second upset of the day beating heavy-hitters Mousesports in the 1-0 match ups and now they find themselves a win away from making it to the next stage of the tournament.

MOUZ got off to a 4-0 start as Mongolz T side couldn’t find a solution early on in the game. A pace change from the Asian side in the 5th round saw them post the first round on the board which eventually led them to a string of a few rounds as the half concluded 5-7 favoring Mongolz.

While MongolZ managed to win the pistol round and go 10-5 up off the back of it, Mouz responded with a string of rounds of their own to reach the map point before them. With backs against the wall, Mongolz won the remaining two rounds and pushed the game to overtime.

MongolZ carried their hot hands into overtime as MOUZ couldn’t find its footing. Having managed only a single round, MOUZ got dominated as they had no answer to whatever the Asian side threw at them. With a 16-13 scoreline, MongolZ is just a win away from qualifying for the next stage.

Vitality has secured their second win of the elimination stage after taking down a tricky and challenging Furia who threatened to win it all but fell to the brilliance of ZyWoo and co. in overtime.

A strong start for Vitality collapsed on the first gun round with a fast-paced Furia offense running all over them. Despite going 3-0 up, Vitality let a few rounds slip as Furia built a solid lead which eventually shaped into an 8-4 half.

A second pistol conversion from Vitality enabled them to cut the lead short but Furia still stood their ground to reach map point before Vitality left them in need of a comeback. Vitality was able to stop Furia right on the track to force the game to overtime by the end.

Furia’s supreme form came crashing down in overtime as Vitality moved into a higher gear. Having managed a single round, Furia looks like a respectable defeat against a potential Major champion.

Furia’s win against Spirit gave them some room for error which just went up in smoke but a performance like this against Vitality would definitely infuse confidence in themselves as it can’t be any harder than this moving forward in the Major.

Vitality on the other hand has secured their second win of the day which puts them another win away from making it into the next stage.

FaZe Clan Outlasts Wildcards

FaZe Clan opened their Perfect World Shanghai Major campaign with an uncomfortably close win against underdogs Wildcards. Despite getting some head-turning results on their road to the elimination stage, FaZe Clan became too much for Wildcards to handle as they lost with a respectable scoreline.

Wildcard got off to a strong start as FaZe failed to find any footing in the game early on but as we progressed, they managed to rope in a few. Wildcard’s offense was very good in catching FaZe off-guard on more than one occasion and combined with stanislaw’s calling, it looked like they were running away with the game.

The second round opened up with FaZe winning the pistol and thereby shifting the momentum which was primarily going the way of WildCards. The early rounds saw FaZe build a lead putting the North Americans on the backfoot which they never recovered from. FaZe’s exceptional talent combined with experience helped them recover a game that easily could have gone the other way.

FaZe eventually won the map 13:10 which was too close given the Wildcards core has little to no experience in tournaments of this stature, while FaZe are titans who always bring their A game on LAN.

This win would lessen the burn of qualification while Wildcard will now compete with a 0-1 scoreline and something tells us, they enjoy the pressure.

Furia having managed to qualify for the elimination stage by the skin of their teeth had taken down Team Spirit in a shocking upset on the first day of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Not only did they beat one of the best teams in the world, they did it most dominantly.

An unexpected start for Team Spirit in the first half of the map saw Furia go 8-4 up. chelo and KSCERATO picked Spirit apart piece by piece and the defense led by donk found no solution to the fast-paced offense brought to the game by the Brazilians.

While Spirit’s past performances would make it difficult for anyone to write them off at this stage, their performance today did not reflect their Valve ranking. An equally dominant defense put the lights out for Team Spirit in the opening match as they lost to Furia with an embarrassing 13:6 scoreline.

Spirit has enough time and space to recover from this loss but this will infuse Furia with a lot of confidence moving forward in the Major. Despite being out of shape, Furia is one of the more experienced rosters and crowded LANs can bring the best out of them.

The Mongolz has taken down the number one team in the world in G2 to open up their Perfect World Shanghai major elimination stage campaign beating expectations.

G2 opened up the match with a pistol round win and imminently lost the following round to a force buy. The MongolZ used this opportunity to build a lead as G2 found themselves in a deficit which they never recovered from. The MongolZ T-side remained methodical and stuck to the book which was enough to close the first half with a 4-8 scoreline.

Disaster followed as The MongolZ shut out G2 in the second pistol round. This caused a massive blow to their comeback expectations as they continued with the map from a significant deficit. G2 managed to win a few rounds, one where Snax clutched a 1v3 but all this went in vain as The MongolZ shut them in the 23 round, winning the game with a 13:10 scoreline.

This result ensures neither qualification nor elimination, G2 will now start their campaign which reduces their room for error while MongolZ has a cushion moving forward.
